After the Gun Ban
Reason, by J.D. Tuccille

Can Americans overcome hurdles to changing this country´s gun culture and the laws regulating firearms? There may be a path to accomplishing just that—but it´s unlikely that anybody would like the results. Let´s look back from a possible future… The strategy that gun controllers finally settled on was to shift the culture to make firearms ownership socially unacceptable. Then, legal changes would be possible. "I think we have to cleanse our culture of this false idea that guns are cool," gun opponents wrote. "Guns are not cool. Cool kids don´t use guns." Note this article is "hypothetical".

Much as Marxists wanted to create a "new man" our so-called liberals are all about changing human nature to fit their own agenda. It´s the same reason they favor unlimited immigration of more malleable, government-dependent people. They don´t like "we the people" as we exist.

Here is another take on the same subject:

A gun ban would work just about as well as the heroin ban. Anybody will to break the law will have a gun. The rest of us.... maybe a phaser.

Remember the electoral map last time? A sea of red with a few blue spots. The blue spots are the only place gun confiscation would ever occur.

There would be massive non-compliance, no question. Ammunition will last, if stored cool and dry, for at least 50 years, I have personally fired a good bit of 70+ year old ammo which worked fine. The guns themselves, if cared for, will last for multiple centuries. Military designs rarely break parts, will run essentially forever.
I own several guns made in the 1860s and 1870s that shoot just as well now as they did 150 years ago, not replicas, originals. I have a number of 1890s-1920s vintage military surplus rifles which are in excellent condition, accurate, powerful and reliable. Modern rifles will be in fine condition until at least 2200, long after all these fools are gone.

The evil left will never make this insanity "work". Never. And the harder they push, the more likely they will be to force a violent response on people who have no desire to be violent, but who will not be disarmed.

You cannot uninvent technology. To enforce the ban would indeed require unannounced house searches with severe consequences for a violation, life in prison (real life), death.

Then evil doers would be deprived of guns and will use alternative means.

The marxist are so dumb.

The people with guns will defend the 2nd Amendment against Washington D.C, NYC, and LA.

Note the operative phrase. "The people with guns". And if anybody thinks our Army sworn to defend the Constitution is going to help the toads in D.C. disarm the American people, they are wrong.

At the end of the process of voting out the 2nd Amend is a bloodbath, and the Libs aren´t going to have any guns. Wonder who will win.

I say this as not owning a gun. Anybody that thinks they can burgle my house with my boxer-cross dog, Gilda, and I, coming at them in the dark is welcome to try.

The Islamic hordes that are just itching to pillage the United States don´t care if guns are "cool" or not but they will use them on every citizen who has not already converted to Islam. I intend to go down with my gun in my hands if I go down at all.

Citing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh´s record on privacy issues, Sen. Rand Paul (R–Ky.) said Sunday that he has yet to decide if he´ll vote to confirm the judge. "I´m concerned about Kavanaugh," Paul said on Fox & Friends, alluding to the judge´s views on the Fourth Amendment, which protects American citizens from "unreasonable searches and seizures." Paul explained that since President Donald Trump "did such a great job" with his first Supreme Court pick, Neil Gorsuch, he is keeping an "open mind" regarding Kavanaugh. But the Kentucky Republican is "worried" and "perhaps disappointed" that Kavanaugh may "cancel out Gorsuch´s

"We have to STOP the next Trump nominee!" says a pop-up solicitation on People for the American Way´s website. Before you rush to "donate now," you might want to consider the organization´s assessment of Trump´s last Supreme Court nominee. "Far from being a fair-minded constitutionalist," PFAW says, Neil Gorsuch "has proven to be a narrow-minded elitist who consistently votes in favor of corporations and the powerful." The gap between that description and Gorsuch´s actual performance on the Court speaks volumes about the blind partisanship of Trump critics who care more about scoring political points than defending civil liberties.

Harley-Davidson, the iconic American motorcycle brand, will shift some manufacturing overseas in response to the raising of trade barriers on both sides of the Atlantic. In a filing made Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Wisconsin-based Harley-Davidson disclosed plans to move some of its manufacturing facilities from the Rust Belt to the Old World in the hopes of avoiding higher costs created by new European Union tariffs that target American-made motorcycles, along with other cultural products like whiskey and blue jeans. Those 25 percent tariffs were imposed last week by E.U. officials in response to the Trump administration´s decision

The Republican Party of Texas has officially endorsed decriminalization of marijuana, offering yet more proof of the dizzying speed at which attitudes are changing toward marijuana and marijuana prohibition. At the state´s GOP biennial party convention in San Antonio last week, assembled delegates lent their overwhelming support to adding four cannabis-related planks to the party platform, including the repeal of criminal penalties for marijuana possession, the expansion of the state´s incredibly limited medical marijuana law, a call for the rescheduling of marijuana at the federal level, and the legalization of industrial

One of the ironies of trade protectionism is that tariffs and import quotas are what we do to ourselves in times of peace and what foreign nations do to us with blockades to keep imports from entering our country in times of war. Or consider that we impose sanctions on U.S. enemies such as North Korea, Russia, and Iran because we want them to feel the economic pain of being deprived of imports. But now we are imposing sanctions on our own country, putting up tariffs supposedly to make Americans more prosperous. If ever there were a crisis of logic

In a recent interview, however, the upstart politico running in a hyper-liberal district in New York did not show command of the issues. Ocasio-Cortez was being interviewed by Margaret Hoover on the PBS show ‘Firing Line.’ Hoover asked very basic, softball questions of the young congressional candidate. In explaining her positions on the economy, Hoover asked Ocasio-Cortez “Do you think that capitalism has failed to deliver for working class Americans?” Hoover cited a currently booming US economy and low unemployment.
