´He´s the Winner of the Olympics.´
Adam Rippon Stole Everyone´s
Hearts During the Olympics

U.S. figure skater Adam Rippon did not medal in his final event at the 2018 Winter Olympics, but he remains an Olympic star nonetheless. Rippon emerged as a fan favorite during the Olympics, loved especially for the artistic beauty of his routine, his honesty and hilarious tweets. He also made headlines for a feud with Vice President Mike Pence over the politician’s stance on gay rights. The skater took home a bronze medal in the team event for figure skating. Rippon finished in the men’s figure skating long program Friday, and although he didn’t earn a medal in that event, it was

Everyone is a very relative term, their numbers are way down over previous Olympics. Gee, I wonder if politicizing the games, be it Adam or fawning over a dictator´s sister had anything to do with that?

Who cares about the meaningless jibber that Time produces? Only a liberal rag would call this loud mouth "the winner of the Olympics."

I stopped watching the Olympics when the backstory became more important than the athletic competition.

I only saw him at the beginning when he injected his sexual preference into to spotlight. And read about him at the end of his participation. Complaining about his sexual persuasion taking the spotlight from his performance. May his fifteen minutes be over.

Meanwhile, back at the Olympics, NBC has also become immersed in the SJW culture but they have totally failed to put on competent or successful programming. I can´t remember seeing such a disorganized, confusing series of programs. It is often unwatchable. They were so carried away with their anti-Trump PCisms, (they had Ripon on camera for what seemed like hours and Johnny Weir in his "look at me" persona had us switching the channel). The network may be filled with SJW´s but they certainly lack professionals or even adults (who would have the courage to tell the idiots that they are idiots).

The voice of Jim McKay comes to mind..."the thrill of victory....and the agony of defeat"

Talented as Rippon is, rather than make his points on the ice, he has tried to make this about himself and his gayness.

The media is lapping it up, and it comes to mind that the media coverage and interest is more about the gayness than actual ability.

Just to be there should be an amazing feat, but I wonder how many viewers turn it off shenever he is on there... could that be the reason for the low ratings, is the constant effort to make him a hero?

Personally, Nathan Chen´s six quad jumps took my breath away. Even more than the three "champs" that took the podium. His performance was for the record books.

Adam Rippon is a good skater, maybe he´ll be "great" someday. But if you put the partisan political opinions away, he still came in down the list.

Nathan Chen, hang in there. Next WO, you´ll be on that podium where you belonged this time.

Here is one LDotter who will admit to watching the Olympics and for the most part enjoying them.

Especially curling, which brings back memories of sprinting full speed down our hardwood hallway then putting on the brakes and sliding as far as possible in sock feet (gym socks). Olympic curling stones, about 40 pounds apiece, are comprised of a rare blue granite, "Blue Hone," that can be found on Ailsa Craig, an island off the Ayrshire coast of Scotland, although harvests are rare, the last occurring in 2013.

The sport of curling has similarities to shuffleboard, a big sport in many Florida retirement communities. Less than two miles north of downtown Clearwater´s Fort Harrison Hotel (Scientology´s "Flag" Base) on Alternate 19 is a shuffleboard complex, probably fifty courts--I have no idea--maybe the biggest of its kind in the world. It´s been there for over forty years and I never saw anyone there. Not one car in the parking lot, not one live body.

Olympic figure skating is among sporting´s most graceful pursuits. I have great respect for these and all athletes who give their lives for excellence. The lady figure skaters--except Tonya Harding and a few others--are thin and have or have had sensational legs that I can´t get enough of.

The men figure skaters are impressive, but did NBC go way out of their way to choose the most ostentatiously gay color commentator they could find? I mean, this estrogen soaked bloody poof must be the president of the Judy Garland pretend slave club or something. We´re being pelted with perversion right in our faces. Lord have mercy.

For the left, it´s finally springtime. After months in the political wilderness, followed by the crushed hopes for the great blue wave, leftists are finally getting a grip on an issue they can pin on President Trump: family separations among detained illegal border-crossers. They´re going wild with this issue, and the press is running stories about it nonstop, complete with crying children to tug at the heartstrings. But there are signs it´s getting to be too much for them, driving them to overplay their hand. The child migrant crisis they have drummed up, with media cameras shamelessly exploiting the faces of

President Trump, to his credit, is holding firm on his zero-tolerance policy for illegal migrants at the border. That´s led the press to a considerable feeding frenzy on one of the consequences of it: the separation of migrants traveling with children so that the illegally arrived adults can wait their asylum claims out in detention, and the children can wait it out in non-prison conditions. That´s brought on lots of pictures of crying children and claimed stories of missing-children outrages, as well as a ton of phony news, dutifully reported over and over. The object is to weaken Trump in the

As he prepared to meet with anxious Republicans on Capitol Hill, President Trump on Tuesday defended his administration’s policy of separating migrant children from their parents at the border and demanded that Congress produce comprehensive immigration legislation to address what he called a “massive crisis.” Trump said he plans to make changes to whatever immigration measure emerges from the House, although his aides have said he would sign both bills under consideration or, perhaps, a narrower fix that immediately addresses the family separations. President Donald Trump is celebrating 500 days in office with a smile on his face and a spring in his step. If there was any doubt, watch his recent impromptu drop-in interview on the White House lawn with Steve Doocy from Fox and Friends last week. The Mueller investigation is coming up empty. Stormy Daniels has turned out to be more of a drizzle than a storm. Trump is checking off accomplishments, from the economy to North Korea, both areas where we were told Trump had no expertise or experience, that if the smart set in the Obama administration couldn´t solve

As fabulous as Sarah Sanders is, watching her daily press briefing is beyond frustrating; it is infuriating. The people she faces each day in that room are rude, antagonistic, angry, and generally vile. They are perpetually on the attack. They never listen to what she says. On Monday, Kirstjen Nielsen, also an amazing woman, faced them with similar results. These not-reporters apparently did not hear a word she said. That was evident from the questions they shouted at her the minute she offered to answer a few. These press jackals are ignorant of facts. They fall for the lamest narratives pushed

Sunday´s election of a hardcore conservative in Colombia has left the media elites and their pundits befuddled. Some are calling Ivan Duque, the 41-year-old new conservative president-elect a "populist" as if to suggest that both President Trump and the late unlamented Venezuelan strongman, Hugo Chávez, are all dreadful peas in the same pod. Others are speculating that Colombia elected another Emmanuel Macron, (Snip) The best story I saw comes from a local, on-the-ground source. Michelle Obama joined her fellow former first lady Laura Bush Monday in criticizing the hard-line Trump administration immigration policy that has led to families being separated at the border. Bush, the wife of former President George W. Bush, penned a tweet over the weekend in which she echoed the widespread condemnation of the new directive from Attorney General Jeff Sessions. “I live in a border state,” Bush said. “I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.” Quoting that tweet, Obama wrote that “sometimes truth transcends

CUCUTA, Colombia - E xhausted but relieved, Yariani Flores lay next to her healthy newborn son, along with four other Venezuelan women who just gave birth in a hospital in Colombia’s border city of Cucuta. Thousands of Venezuelan women have done the same over the past few years, as the health system in their home country has crumbled. They crossed the border, driven by fear that they or their babies could die. Early in her pregnancy, Flores sought a pre-natal checkup at a municipal hospital in Venezuela’s frontier state of Tachira only to be told that there was little point. “The doctor said,

The Justice Department on Monday announced charges against a former CIA computer engineer for allegedly leaking top-secret information on U.S. government hacking tools to WikiLeaks. In a 13-count superseding indictment, the agency charged Joshua Adam Schulte with illegally gathering classified national defense information and transmitting it to “an organization.” WikiLeaks published the data in March of last year. “Schulte utterly betrayed this nation and downright violated his victims,” FBI official William Sweeney Jr. said in the release. “As an employee of the CIA, Schulte took an oath to protect this country, but he blatantly endangered it by the transmission of

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) on Monday said President Trump should stop his administration’s “heartless” zero-tolerance immigration policy, which has resulted in children being separated from their parents. Bush, who unsuccessfully ran for president in 2016, also said Congress should pass an immigration law that addresses issues raised by both Democrats and Republicans. “Children shouldn’t be used as a negotiating tool. @realDonaldTrump should end this heartless policy and Congress should get an immigration deal done that provides for asylum reform, border security and a path to citizenship for Dreamers,” Bush tweeted.”

Taxes: Whatever you think about the issue of taxing internet sales, the simple fact is that the Supreme Court has just guaranteed that people across the country will now be paying more in state taxes. It´s hard for us to see how this is good news. In its 5-4 decision on South Dakota v. Wayfair, the court overturned two previous rulings that prevented states from taxing sales of out-of-state companies. That meant a catalog company based in Maine didn´t have to navigate 45 state sales-tax laws to figure out how much each customer owed, and then remit that money to the
