(Video) - Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney is running for the Senate in Utah. Three people with direct knowledge of the plan tell the Associated Press Romney will formally launch his campaign in a video on Thursday. His first public appearance as a Senate candidate is scheduled for Friday in Utah. The people who provided the information asked for anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about Romney´s plans in advance. Romney, who is 70, is seeking to replace 83-year-old Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch, who is retiring after more than 40 years in the U.S. Senate. The former Massachusetts governor

Another possible future thorn in Trump´s side. This should make McCain happy, if he lives so long.

I would like to see a young, retired Military person run against Romney. I don´t think it´s a slam dunk that Romney is going to win!

Romney is a shoo-in. Trusted in Utah.

He will not embarrass Utah by undermining the president.

And he sure won´t be buying Russian type dossiers in underground intrigue like McCain.

Like Hatch he i smart enough to see the advantage the Trump wave gave for the implementing of GOP ideals and policies.

But will be interesting to watch (and listen to the anti-Mitt/Mormon resistance?)

He isn´t running as president in 2020 bar national tragedy that would impel him IMO. Mitt is establishment GOP. IMO he knows he cannot win the presidency as he called himself in 2012 or ´16, a "flawed candidate".

That flaw, his religion that carries 150 year old baggage in some GOP demographics, flips in Utah where character counts (sometimes more than it should when political parties collide? ie, render unto Caesar or vote for issues not persona? )

Why have an election?
Honor Romney by giving the seat to him by acculmation
All the democrats will vote for him and 30% of the republicans. He’s bounced all over the country from, Utah, Michigan, Massachusetts and could not even defeat Obama. Next he will be heading to Oregon..

Have you ever seen Utah skies at nightfall? Haunting. Strangely beautiful. The same for Moab, Zion, Monument Valley, the city of wide streets built around Tabernacle. Was Joseph Smith a false prophet, who deceived the world with a false Christianity, using "seer stones" and an "angel" named Moroni? Nobody cares. We are,as Obama told us a Post-Christian country. Everyone loves the great controlled moral character of the Mormon people. In Mormon scripture which, lets face it contradicts and supersedes the Bible for Mormons making all other Christians "idiots", lies a story of a man who comes along in the latter days "when America hangs by a thread" and saves it. Many believe Bishop [sic] Romney is the man. Who else could it be? Harry Reid? Even though he is tied in to the Bush money people and the same New World Order people who are "one resist tactic" away from breaking us and the world economy, what Utah true believer could not vote for Romney? He runs not only for the addiction to power i his DNA, not only what he intends to do to Trump. Its not where the money comes from which is just a means to an end. All his friends take that money, and he knows they are slimier than he is. Its his destiny, and the new Jerusalem in Missouri may depend on him. Of course, you can´t really discuss this. Its absurd. Its out of the canon of approved thinking.

Ugh. If there is anything we have learned from the President is that the American people want someone willing to fight for them; someone who is unafraid to respond to the lying media; and someone who understands the importance of restoring this country to its greatness. This does not describe Mitt Romney. He trashed our candidate viciously and then lobbied him for a job. So which is the genuine Mitt? Here’s a hint: whichever one benefits him more. Yep, I guess that’s the depth of his integrity. Trust him at your peril. He’s in it for Mitt.

Romney likes looking "statesmanlike." Not one Republican voted for Obamacare. If one had, it would have damaged every effort to repeal. A Senator Mitt Romney will give them that one vote when they really need it.

Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Texas, announced that the House Intelligence Committee´s interview phase of its investigation into collusion and Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign has concluded. Conaway told reporters Monday, "We found no evidence that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it colluded with the Russians." With the current in the East River between Manhattan and Queens running south at about three knots and the downed helicopter lashed to a tugboat, rescue divers on Sunday night had only one option. They told the tugboat captain to cut the propellers and resigned themselves to drifting with the current as they tried to cut five passengers out of the helicopter, their bodies underwater and cinched with harnesses heavy enough to let them lean over and snap photographs of the New York City skyline. By the time the divers plucked them out, it was too late. By the time the divers plucked them out, it was too late. The five passengers —

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday told an audience at the University of Miami that he would have "beat the hell out" of President Trump in high school for comments he has made about women. "A guy who ended up becoming our national leader said, ´I can grab a woman anywhere and she likes it,´" Biden said, according to ABC News. "They asked me if I´d like to debate this gentleman, and I said, ´No.´ I said, ´If we were in high school, I´d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.´" The rally in

Actors and athletes increasingly using their forums for political activism are turning off viewers, according to a newly released poll. A McLaughlin & Associates/Media Research Center survey released Wednesday found that 44 percent were less likely to watch sports and entertainment shows “because they have become too political.” In addition, 75 percent said they watch sports and entertainment to escape from politics, and “do not want to be bombarded with partisan political messages.” The poll of 1,000 likely voters comes with television ratings plummeting in the last year for high-profile sports and entertainment

One of my liberal friends admitted to me recently that there is a certain virtue to losing gracefully. She was referencing her disappointment with the mean-spirited salvos Hillary Clinton delivered during her recent visit to India, an outburst closer to being disgraceful than full of grace. I’ve been trying to figure Hillary out for almost a half century, ever since I found myself part of an alumnae audience listening to the Wellesley Class of 1969’s graduation spokesperson -- known then as Hillary Rodham -- erupt in condescending anger at the commencement’s guest speaker. Even all those years ago, it was

Based on the latest U.S. Census Bureau statistics from July 2016 to July 2017, Californians are leaving the state in droves. As Jed Kolko, chief economist with employment website Indeed.com, pointed out regarding the data, "The rate at which California has been losing people to other states has accelerated in the past couple of years, in part because of rising housing costs … more people moved out of California to other states than moved in from other states. In other words, California lost people due to domestic migration."There are apparently three prime destinations for the migrating Californians: Texas, Arizona, and

The problem is not all salmon is created equal. More than 90 percent of the fresh salmon eaten in this country comes from giant fish farms, and those farms have problems. Big ones. Here are the facts about America’s favorite fish that you should know but perhaps wish you didn’t. • Large-scale salmon farms in the United States, Canada, Scotland, Norway and Chile have

Chief of Staff John Kelly is reportedly furious after someone in President Trump´s national security inner circle leaked sensitive information to the press yesterday. The leak, which came Tuesday afternoon, revealed that President Trump was advised not to congratulate Russian President Vladimir Putin on his re-election campaign. That information came out in media reports after Trump revealed during a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House that he had congratulated Putin during a phone call. "I had a call with President Putin and congratulated him on the victory -- his electoral victory. The call had to do,

White House officials said Thursday that President Donald Trump will sign a hotly contested budget bill when lawmakers send it to him, despite the fact that it provides for only 33 miles of new barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border. Trump vowed in April 2017 that his long-promised border wall would be finished by the end of his first term in office. ´It´s certainly going to – yeah,´ he told reporters then, answering a specific question about a four-year timeline and adding that ´we have plenty of time.´ But at the rate the White House has agreed to, the project could stretch through more
