Shaun White Apologizes for
Dragging American Flag

Snowboarder Shaun White apologized Wednesday for dragging a U.S. flag on the snow after his dramatic gold medal victory in the men’s halfpipe, but said he did not know he had let the flag touch the ground. “I remember being handed the flag but I was trying to put my gloves on and hold the flag and get board,” he told reporters afterward. “Honestly, if there was anything, I definitely didn’t mean any disrespect." "The flag that’s flying on my house right now is way up there. So sorry for that," White continued. "But I’m definitely proud — very proud — to be a part of Team USA and being an American and to be representing for

Comments:
Anyone watching the event last night knows just how emotional this win was for him and why. He proudly wrapped himself in the American flag and represented our country beautifully. As a Gold Star Parent, he gets a pass from me. His actions were completely unintentional and I am proud to have him represent this country.

I´ve followed his career. I don´t hold this against him, although the other matter is a problem.

Shaun White is a good guy who was profoundly emotional and weeping uncontrollably at having won gold. He clearly meant no disrespect. The contemptible haters who cheer wildly when the American flag is desecrated and burned are the disgusting creeps who are howling in mock outrage.

White was emotionally drained after winning, that was clear. What´s not clear is if he even knew not to let the flag touch the ground. Someone his age, in this country now may have never heard of flag etiquette. I´m assuming he´s a product of Department of Education/NEA controlled schools.

Yeah, give the guy a break... probably one of the biggest days in his life, lots of emotions, trying to walk around... he´s a good guy who´s represented his nation well.

Cut him some slacks. He wasn´t stomping, burning, spitting, tearing or kneeling against the flag like the LOSERs do. He was, ...in the moment, in the zone, and soaking it in. However, he may have a bigger issue that´s coming to haunt him. Hope he survives.

I, too, saw his win and the emotion he displayed. When I saw the flag being dragged I knew instinctively that someone would criticize him. One could see he was overcome with joy and he happily wrapped himself in the flag. It was as he left the area part of the flag was on the ground. Give him a break.

Having said that I watched the entire thing unfolding. Yes, he was emotional. He was not paying attention when teh flag was handed over to him. He should have instantly wrapped it around him, instead which he was tottering around

Different times, different generation. I was born in ‘43 and back then it was instinctive in all of us that you would throw yourself on a live grenade before the flag was allowed to touch the ground - no matter what the situation.

Watched & shouted at TV - surely someone near him should have prompted him or picked it up for him; glad he apologized as he needed to. I don´t think he did it deliberately, but it´s just as wrong to drag it on the ground & step on it whether deliberate or not. Those around him that saw it are guilty of omission. He should have left it wrapped around his shoulders as first done - ´tho even that isn´t right to do. IIRC you don´t wear the flag as an item of clothing i.e., a shawl or cape. We´re so used to making acceptable that which is unacceptable we end up in situations like this.

I don´t believe Shaun did this on purpose or meant any disrespect. And he apologized without any "buts" thrown on the end.

Sadly, most people under 50 have not been raised to truly respect the flag and handle it properly.

Thank you, #11. The flag is not a piece of clothing and it gripes me every time someone hands one to the winning athlete after every competition because you know they´re going to drape it around themselves like a shawl. It´s worse during the track and field events, worst after a relay. Carl Lewis allegedly had a huge flag planted with a coach in the stands, to whom he immediately ran after winning the 100 meters and then paraded around far too long with it.

The real-life political equivalent of that landmark cinematic moment is playing out before our eyes, with the Republican National Committee and congressional Republicans. On the omnibus, on the Second Amendment, on border safety – almost every issue – the GOP continues to betray the family. Who is the family? The American people.

Anyone looking for proof that the disgraced American media could not care less about dead children need only take a few minutes to survey the various national news platforms. While the jaw-dropping list of local and federal law enforcement failures continues to mount, all of our corrupt media’s energy is focused on blaming the completely innocent NRA for Wednesday’s school-shooting massacre. All the way back in September, the FBI was informed that a YouTube user named Nikolas Cruz was publicly bragging about wanting to become a “professional school shooter.” On Wednesday, a guy named Nikolas Cruz murdered 17 people in a Florida high school.

President Donald Trump has asked the Pentagon to plan a grand parade of the U.S. armed forces in Washington this year to celebrate military strength, officials said Tuesday. The Washington Post, which was first to report the plan, said Trump wants an elaborate parade this year with soldiers marching and tanks rolling, but no date has been selected. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed the request Tuesday evening. She said Trump wants the Pentagon to “explore a celebration” that will allow Americans to show appreciation for the military.

President Donald Trump was greeted with a booming chorus of cheers mixed with some boos as he took the field Monday for the national anthem ahead of the college football title game between Georgia and Alabama. The president, flanked by military members, stood near the 40-yard line with his hand on his heart as the anthem played. Another wave of cheers and jeers followed him as he left the field. Trump arrived in metro Atlanta around 6 p.m. to take in the all-Southeastern Conference matchup between the two powerhouses. His motorcade caused gridlock and long lines outside the sold-out stadium.

Clapper admitted the FBI “may have had someone who was talking to them in the campaign,” referring to President Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. He explained away the possibility of an FBI informant spying on the campaign as the bureau was trying to find out “what the Russians were doing to try to substantiate themselves in the campaign or influence or leverage it.” Obama’s Director of National Intelligence then went on to say, “So,

Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters. Fair wages, the “absolute promise of universal health care,” public school funding, gun safety reform and equal pay were at the top of the former first lady’s agenda items that she thought should stay central to the Democratic Party’s platform.
