Trey Gowdy says House investigating
Rob Porter clearance issues

CBS News, by Emily Tillett, Andrew Wallender

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 2/14/2018 10:46:06 AM

(Video) - South Carolina Republican Trey Gowdy says that the House Oversight Committee is set to investigate the issues surrounding security clearances in the fallout of former White House staff secretary Rob Porter´s resignation. Gowdy confirmed to CNN on Wednesday that the panel launched its probe Tuesday night. "We are directing inquiries to people that we think have access to information we don´t have. You can call it official. You can call it unofficial. Those words don´t mean anything to me. What means something to me is I´m going to direct questions to the FBI that I expect them to answer," said Gowdy.

Comments:
Move on. Nothing to see here. The "fake news" media continues to pick at the Trump administration while their ratings fall while Trump´s rise. Odd. s/o.

Good because I believe that the FBI in a continuing effort to discredit our President did this on purpose.

It use to be (back in the late 1980s) when I adjudicated background investigationsthat a mere allegation without at least two corroborating accounts was just that - an allegation - not a definitive account and ignored. It stayed in the record but was cited as unsubstantiated allegation.

With the close timing of a new President coming into office and having to fill so many slots I don’t know how Top Secret clearances can be made for so many using only the regular team. In short Interim clearances must be made and we have to take some chances that some will be a miss. The job of the President must go on and POTUS requires help. As this only happens every 4 years that “tiger teams” from all agencies could be created to expedite the process. And as each person is identified a group could jump on it and get the process completed quickly. Just a thought.

I´ll stipulate that striking your spouse is a bad thing. That said, I demand as an American citizen that any federal employee---who ostensibly works for ME---who has ever struck his or her spouse, or for that matter, has ever been even accused of such...be terminated from government employment immediately. Talk about shrinking the size of government....

I think this is more about the Democrats, and and some Republicans, want to get Gen. Kelly OUT of the White House. They are awfully quick to say he should resign. I personally thing Porter was fired when the pictures surfaced, end of story. The BIG DEAL is others see this as another chance to make it look like the White House is always in some kind of turmoil. I say move on! Also, it would be interesting to investigate how many people working in the Obama White House had Security Clearance. I would bet there were a lot of folks who shouldn´t have been looking at Classified information. Anthony Weiner for one!

Second, Huma Abedin had the highest security clearance even though she was an editor of a muslim brotherhood journal, and her family is responsible for the formation of the muslim brotherhood.
Did you worry about her, Trey Gowdy?????
If not, why not? Why didn´t you question her lover, Hillary, as to why Hillary must have waived Huma´s past and current connections to a terrorist group?

President Trump is on a collision course with Congress on ZTE, the Chinese telecommunications giant sanctioned for doing business with Iran and North Korea. Trump has publicly signaled his desire to ease the restrictions on ZTE as he seeks China´s cooperation on North Korea talks and hammering out a trade deal. But Trump’s pivot on ZTE has received terrible reviews from Republicans in Congress, who have joined with Democrats in passing measures to ensure the restrictions are kept in place. In a letter to Kim, Trump wrote that it would be “inappropriate” to hold the planned historic summit. “Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long planned meeting,” he wrote. The summit was to take place June 12th in Singapore. The finding by a Dutch-led team raised the likelihood Kremlin officials would face criminal charges for the downing of the BRUSSELS — A Dutch-led international team of investigators said Thursday that a missile that downed a Malaysian Airlines jetliner over eastern Ukraine in 2014 came from the Russian military, opening the possibility that Dutch prosecutors could sue the Kremlin in connection with the attack that killed all 298 on board. The long-running inquiry already established that a Russian-made Buk antiaircraft missile downed flight MH17, but it had not previously made a direct link to the Russian military.
