Meet the Writer the New York Times
Hired and Fired In Just Six Hours

Slate Magazine, by Osita Nwanevu

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 2/14/2018 10:23:35 AM

On Tuesday afternoon, the New York Times announced that it would be hiring Quinn Norton as an editorial board member. Shortly before 10 p.m., the paper fired her. Norton has been a prolific tech journalist—covering issues ranging from bioethics to the Anonymous movement for publications like Wired and the Atlantic—and seemed initially to be a remarkably good pick to become the Times’ lead opinion writer “on the power, culture, and consequences of technology.” The hours between her hiring and firing were an object lesson in all three. A number of unflattering facts about Norton traveled quickly across social media.

Comments:
More proof that from within the New York Times, even they don´t vet their own "editorial board" members properly before hiring them. Having friendships with known neo-Nazis who spout off racial slurs would raise flags in government hiring. Think the current FBI doesn´t make mistakes when doing security clearances, including within the White House? The New York times should clean out its own glass house of lying propagandist.

WOW!
Someone too far to the left for the NYT?
They went to bat for Hitler and Stalin, but even they have limits?
This has to be satire. Nobody is too far to the left for them.

Gee. I figured they must have found out she voted Republican (for Trump), was a conservative, went to a Christian Church or ate at Chick-Fil-A.

Those are usually grounds for dismissal at the New York Times for any position from paperboy (oops, probably now called "paper delivery associate where gender is not an issue") and above.

Funny how we can elect a POTUS with black supremacist not to mention terrorist pals.

How is it in my entire life I have never encountered a neonazi? I feel cheated. I sure don´t have any difficulty finding socialists aspiring to be full fledged communists!

What is happening is, PC is reaching such a bizarre proportion it is finally into paralyzing limits. It turns out, if everyone is individually aware of things that "make them uncomfortable" then no one can read, do write or say anything to anyone else. the whole world of intellectual discourse just turns into a uniform gray pablum that anyone can write. There is no excellence because excellence itself makes people uncomfortable.

This was bound to happen sooner or later. Who would have thought Polish jokes and Bugs Bunny cartoons were actually saving the world?

President Trump on Thursday dismissed the possibility of an immigration bill being signed into law without containing a provision that funds his signature campaign promise for a border wall along the U.S.´ southern border with Mexico. In an interview with "Fox and Friends," the president touted four immigration bills currently being discussed by lawmakers, before warning that none of them would obtain his signature without proper funding for border security. President Trump said former FBI Director James Comey was one of the "rotten apples" at the FBI, after Comey accused Trump of spreading lies about his former agency. “The FBI is a fantastic institution, but some of the people at the top were rotten apples. James Comey was one of them,” Trump told Fox News in an interview that aired Thursday. “I’ve done a great service to this country by getting rid of him, by firing him.” Comey said on Twitter Wednesday that Trump´s attacks on and lies about the FBI will cause “lasting damage” to the country. “Facts matter. The finding by a Dutch-led team raised the likelihood Kremlin officials would face criminal charges for the downing of the BRUSSELS — A Dutch-led international team of investigators said Thursday that a missile that downed a Malaysian Airlines jetliner over eastern Ukraine in 2014 came from the Russian military, opening the possibility that Dutch prosecutors could sue the Kremlin in connection with the attack that killed all 298 on board. The long-running inquiry already established that a Russian-made Buk antiaircraft missile downed flight MH17, but it had not previously made a direct link to the Russian military.

It may be true that President Trump illegally conspired with Russia and was so good at covering it up he’s managed to outwit our best intel and media minds who´ve searched for irrefutable evidence for two years. (We still await special counsel Robert Mueller’s findings.) But there’s a growing appearance of alleged wrongdoing equally as insidious, if not more so, because it implies widespread misuse of America’s intelligence and law enforcement apparatus. Here are eight signs pointing to a counterintelligence operation deployed against Trump for political reasons. Code name: The operation reportedly had at least one code name

(Video) - Hillary Clinton on Wednesday formally backed New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the gubernatorial race, as she tried to unite scandal-scarred Democrats at their state convention. The endorsement for Cuomo comes as he fights to ward off a challenge from the left in the form of activist and “Sex and the City” actress Cynthia Nixon. The party is also still reeling from the resignation of Democratic Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who stepped down earlier this month amid allegations he assaulted four women he dated. Clinton did not mention Schneiderman during remarks at Hofstra University, but took repeated

It happens every year for just a couple of weeks. Deep in the Congaree National Park, as the sun disappears, the sky will light up as hundreds -- if not thousands -- of male fireflies flash in sync. The phenomenon, which typically occurs for about two weeks in the South Carolina national park in mid-May or early-June, is a mating ritual for male fireflies competing for the attention of females before their short lives come to an end, Jon Manchester, a park ranger at Congaree National Park, told Fox News. As the male fireflies, which remain close to the ground, light up together with their flash patterns, the national park looks like

Wonsan, North Korea - A group of foreign journalists departed by train Wednesday to watch the dismantling of North Korea´s nuclear test site after eight reporters from South Korea received last-minute permission to join them. The remote site deep in the mountains of the North´s sparsely populated northeast interior is expected to have a formal closing ceremony in the next day or two, depending on the weather. The closing was announced by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ahead of his planned summit with U.S. President Donald Trump next month. (Snip) The group includes an Associated Press Television crew.

News that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has sent his gumshoes to Israel certainly does bring this matter full circle. The report is that they are looking into the activities of what the Jewish Telegraphic Agency news wire characterizes as “an Israeli-run social media firm that may have led a social media manipulation effort to help Donald Trump get elected.” Good luck to Mr. Mueller, is our sentiment. Alphabet ‘smart’ diaper notion

Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has filed for a patent via its Verily division that will tell parents, by way of technology, when their diapered babies have gone to the bathroom. This is a solid example of When Technology Goes Overboard. The world of parenting already has a notification procedure to alert when babies have gone poop. It’s called — crying. And on that, babies are generally pretty good at it. They cry when they’re wet; they cry when their diapers are soiled; they cry when they can’t sleep because their little bottoms have turned cold and uncomfortable from dried urine. As for the hard of hearing?

Giant predatory worms from tropical parts of Asia that have stealthily invaded French gardens pose a threat to local wildlife, scientists are warning. The voracious creatures have infiltrated gardens across the country and also French territories. A new study has collected reports of the unusual creatures, which are known to grow up to 40cm in length. Despite their size, these unusual creatures would have gone completely unnoticed were it not for the efforts of amateur naturalist Pierre Gros who took a photograph of an unidentified worm in 2013. “This photograph was sent from email to email to email and finally it came to me,”

After about thirteen years of being a loyal customer of Netflix, the time has come for me to say goodbye. Ideas to handle players kneeling during the anthem included allowing home teams to decide if players should be out of the locker room during the pre-game playing of The Star-Spangled Banner or not.If players are on the sideline, then 15-yard
