California confronts the complexities of
creating a single-payer healthcare system

Los Angeles Times, by Michael Hiltzik

Original Article

California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon may have expected to torpedo the idea of a statewide single-payer healthcare system for the long term last June, when he blocked a Senate bill on the issue from even receiving a hearing in his house. He was wrong, of course. His shelving of the Senate bill created a political uproar (including the threat of a recall effort), forcing him to create a special committee to examine the possibility of achieving universal health coverage in the state. On Monday and Wednesday, the Select Committee on Health Care Delivery Systems and Universal Coverage held its final

I doubt the public employee unions will be dumped into the single-payer system they end up forcing upon the citizens of CA.

Wonder if they have taken into account people who visit, have a medical issue, but don´t belong to the single-payer plan?

What about people who like what they already have, and don´t want to be pushed into a DMV-style system?

One of the complexities is for U-Haul to figure out how to get their vans back to CA fast enough for the next wave of taxpayers moving out.

It´s simple to implement. Make it just like Obamacare - force people pay to many thousands of dollars to receive care, then add an enormous deductible so that they have to pay for their own healthcare twice. Throw in several thousand nonsense bookkeeping regulations, ways to snoop into everyone´s business and many unrelated regulations to force behaviors you like just because you can. Implement everything poorly so that the cost balloons enormously. Add perks for all your friends. Exempt anyone in that has political power or is your friend, then boast about how you´ve given everyone a free service.

I have lived is Cal since I was born in 1950. I’m just about done with this place. If this goes through I’m getting the he-ll out of here. The state taxes will necessarily go sky high. Sales taxes will go over 10%, they will invent brand new taxes on everything. Whatever taxes they have now will skyrocket and the states annual budget deficits will start to match the federal deficits. It’s a high speed disaster to financial oblivion cloaked in well meaning desires to have a utopian society.

If you think this is something, wait. Moonbeam Brown is leaving. Trying to fill his shoes is Javier Becerra.

He comes highly respected:

“He’s extremely well known in the Latino community,” said Janet Murguia, president of the National Council of La Raza. “He is able to go on English-language media or Spanish-language media and is someone who can have a foot in both worlds. That is an incredible asset and has helped propel him to the forefront of leaders in the Latino community.”

Becerra´s Wife Carolina Reyes Was A Leader Of "The Chicano Activist Organization MEChA."
"MEChA Supports ´Reconquering´ California For Mexico And Urges All Latinos To Resist Assimilation With White Americans."

1. It´s getting late: The recovery from the Great Recession is already one of the longest economic expansions in American history. And recently the economic cycle has gone from humming along to booming. Unemployment is down to a 17-year low, small business sentiment is roaring, and economic growth hit the 3% mark twice last year. But economic expansions don´t last forever. A recession comes along eventually and ruins the party. Wall Street is already pondering the demise of this recovery, which in May would become the second-longest in history. Most economists and investors believe the U.S. economy is either in

WASHINGTON – It turns out Donald Trump wasn’t the only candidate the Russians allegedly tried to help during the 2016 presidential campaign. The Russians “engaged in operations primarily intended to communicate derogatory information about Hillary Clinton, to denigrate other candidates such as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, and to support Bernie Sanders and then-candidate Donald Trump,” according to the

By the end of the week, the immigration debate seemed deadlocked between the fate of the Dreamers and the fate of the wall. Now that the gun control advocates have had their fifteen minutes of fame, let’s start focusing on the real issues impacting the rise in school shootings since that infamous day in Columbine in 1999. Issue number one that no one in the mainstream media or government wants to acknowledge: fatherlessness. Specifically, the impact of fatherlessness on the boys who grew up to become school shooters. Dr. Warren Farrell, author of the new book The Boy Crisis, explains: Minimal or no father involvement, whether due to divorce, death, or imprisonment, is common to Adam Lanza, Elliott Rodgers, Dylan Roof and Stephen Paddock.
