Palin Vindicated: GOP Sends
IPAB to the Death Panel

American Spectator, by David Catron

Despite what we keep reading in the “news” media about the failure of the GOP to repeal Obamacare, congressional Republicans and President Trump are steadily dismembering the justly reviled healthcare law, limb by pernicious limb. The latest appendage to be lopped off was among its most dangerous — the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). IPAB was designed by the law’s authors as a rationing board composed of unelected bureaucrats with the power to “recommend” reductions in Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals. This would have reduced access to care for the elderly. That dangerous Obamacare provision

It would appear that the socialist progs signal the issues they are most concerned with by applying their most zealous self righteous indignation.

The many recent allegations of sexual harassment and assault in Hollywood have brought down powerful men—most notably Harvey Weinstein—and prompted industry executives to seek ways to combat the rampant problem. One such effort to was to form the Commission on Sexual Harassment and Advancing Equality in the Workplace, a panel spearheaded by Hollywood executives to devise a strategy to confront “the broad culture of abuse and power disparity” in the industry. This is a laudable move that could very well make Hollywood a safer and more welcoming place for women. But there’s just one problem: the woman tasked

The key to understanding much of the bewildering behavior we see around us is to recognize the power and popularity of “virtue signaling.” Keeping virtue signaling in mind will help you understand a lot of behavior that otherwise makes no sense. What, for example, is the point of removing Confederate statues or attempting to disown the country’s Founding Fathers because some were slave owners? It makes sense if your objective is to be sanctimonious. You make yourself feel better by looking down your nose at Thomas Jefferson. Virtue signaling is the modern version of what St. Augustine in the 5th

If you watched CNN’s emotionally charged town-hall presentation on gun violence Wednesday night — entitled “Stand Up: The Students of Stoneman Douglas Demand Action” — I’m sorry. No, really. I am genuinely sorry. Televised political “town halls” tend to be awkward, terrible, stilted, cringe-inducing, and wildly artificial showboating affairs. We can thank Jimmy Carter for pioneering this nightmarish trend in 1977, and Bill Clinton for cheerfully carrying it forward to torture us through the 1990s. But a televised political town hall dedicated to gun violence, held just days after a horrific high-school mass shooting — and populated by grieving parents and

I was surprised to learn from a recent Washington Examiner article that last week I “ignored” the Senate’s longstanding blue slip courtesy. This article echoes inaccurate Democratic talking points and ignores the history of the blue-slip tradition. I have stated consistently that I am maintaining the blue-slip courtesy as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Since 1917, whenever a president has selected a judicial nominee to fill a court vacancy, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee has issued blue slips of paper to each senator representing the state where the vacancy occurred. The historical purpose of the blue slip

With the Democrats’ Russian obsession having dwindled to absurdity, President Trump can continue to move the country forward. It is both dismal and amusing to see the rationalizations of the diehard Kremlin collusionists after Robert Mueller’s spurious indictment of the 13 Russians who will never encounter the vagaries of U.S. justice. The charge of conspiring against the United States is nonsense, and the whole ambiance of the investigation now is that of a phantom consolation prize for the absence of a crime, a victim, or a culprit, all amplified by the hollow sanctimony of an official America that has meddled countless

Trump Releases Obamacare Hostages

The Trump administration has issued a new regulation that will provide an escape route for health insurance consumers who have, since the imposition of Obamacare, been forced by their bureaucratic captors to choose between plans they can’t afford and going without coverage. Once the proposed rule is implemented, in 60 days, Americans will be able to buy health plans that conform to their own needs rather than the whims of Washington politicians. And, because this coverage won’t be loaded down with useless “benefits” many consumers don’t want, their premiums will be lower than the price of a typical Obamacare plan.

While pundits widely focus on his Democratic rival Conor Lamb (understandably, as Lamb is young and progressive, has a military background and comes from a pedigree political family), Rep. Rick Saccone may just be the one to watch. Why? Because everything that is at stake for both political parties rests on his shoulders. If Lamb wins, then every Democrat running in a swing district across the country will try to adapt the Lamb strategy: Avoid the press; take no strong stands on any issue; and just focus on

The Russians interfering in the American political process and the Americans expressing the most outrage that Russians interfered in the American political process share much in common. Robert Mueller’s indictment released on Friday charges the defendants with attempting to “hide the Russian origin of their activities and to avoid detection.” One could say something very similar about the whole catalyst of Mueller’s investigation. The origins of it prove terribly inconvenient to Mueller. This explains the reticence of so many of the president’s adversaries to talk about how campaign contributions paid for the information that gained the warrant for electronic surveillance on Donald

The law´s standing has increased in the polls as GOP groups pitch the tax cuts to voters as a solid Republican accomplishment."I think the memo is spot on. Absolutely spot on," said Rep. Having anxiously watched Robert Mueller blunder around the Beltway for a year with his metal detector and tinfoil hat, the legacy media were doubtlessly relieved Friday when he seemed to have finally found something they could to sink their teeth into. Sadly, for them, there isn’t much to his indictment. All it confirms is the blindingly obvious reality that Russia interferes in American elections. Because we are the big dog and they are the mangy tail that would wag us, the Kremlin tried to influence us via Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. The indictment doesn’t even claim this hare-brained scheme worked.

Lewis Carroll once wrote in praise of adjectives, saying that “adjectives you can do anything with, but not verbs.” That is certainly true with the latest indictments by special counsel Robert Mueller of 13 Russians for interfering with the 2016 presidential election. For the White House, the entire report comes down to a single adjective. Let’s see if you can spot it: The Russian defendants “communicated with unwitting individuals associated with the Trump campaign.”Despite a 37-page indictment with a long narrative on a coordinated Russian campaign of interference, the most newsworthy fact comes from the carefully placed adjective “unwitting.”

It´s bad enough for a law enforcement agency to be biased. It´s even worse for it to be biased and incompetent. But the latter seems to be an apt characterization of our Federal Bureau of Investigation in the wake of the killings in Parkland, Florida, where, by their own admission, the organization overlooked warnings about the killer that could have saved seventeen students and teachers from mass murder. This is no mere bureaucratic slip-up and the demand by Governor Scott for the resignation of FBI Director Wray is understandable considering the number of dead children in his state. John Kasich’s inner circle is gearing up for a possible presidential run in 2020 — actively weighing the prospect of a Republican primary challenge to President Donald Trump against the feasibility of a long-shot general election campaign as an independent. And there’s one consideration driving their thinking perhaps more than any other: what some of his advisers consider the very real, maybe even likely, possibility that Trump doesn’t run again — by choice or not — or that the president becomes so politically hobbled by late next year that the political landscape fundamentally shifts in Kasich’s favor. That’s one reason

A discussion among students at Oberlin High School in Oberlin, La., about a mathematical symbol led to a police investigation and a search of one of the student’s homes, according to the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office. On the afternoon of Feb. 20, detectives investigated a report of terroristic threats at the school, where they learned that a student had been completing a math problem that required drawing the square-root sign. Students in the group began commenting that the symbol, which represents a number that when multiplied by itself equals another number, looked like a gun.

A report released Friday claims four of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel’s deputies waited outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School while the attack was occurring. On February 22 Breitbart News reported that one deputy resigned after it was learned that he was on scene but failed to control Nikolas Cruz. The sheriff’s office moved to suspend Peterson, who resigned before the suspension could take place. Now CNN reports
