Senate Stumbles into Shutdown
as Rand Paul Blocks Vote

Associated Press, by Staff

WASHINGTON— The government stumbled into a midnight shutdown Thursday as a rogue Senate Republican blocked a speedy vote on a massive, bipartisan, budget-busting spending deal, protesting the return of trillion-dollar deficits on the watch of Republicans controlling Washington. A shutdown — technically a lapse in agency appropriations — became inevitable as GOP Sen. Rand Paul repeatedly held up votes on the budget plan, which is married to a six-week government-wide spending measure. The Senate recessed around 11 p.m. with plans to reconvene just after midnight.Paul was seeking a vote on reversing

At least someone has a sense of honor. If we ran our personal finances the way they run the national ones, we´d be in prison.

This 700 page document was delivered at midnight Wednesday night and scheduled to go to a vote Thursday night to prevent a shutdown.

Question: How many Senators and Congressmen read this thing. A speed reader at 1200 words a minute would have spent 6 hours plus wading through this document. The average reader at 300 words a minute....! Well, you get the picture.

As interest rates are poised to rise, we are looking at a situation where the INTEREST on the debt we all owe, will be overwhelming and unsustainable.

Hemingway was once asked how he found himself to be bankrupt. He replied,´It happened slowly.....then suddenly!´

I fear for the future of my children and grandchildren when that happens! And it appears it will!

I think we need to rebuild our military or we´re going to see the first Nuke come to us! That takes Billions. We can take the money the Democrats would use to support those MILLIONS of Dreamers and their families and give it to the Military. If Dreamers want to stay here, they should NOT be a burden on our country. If they are on welfare, it should be cut off NOW. Then move to the millions of Americans who are on welfare who are able bodied and cut them off. You see where I´m going with this. We have the money to fund our military IF we quit using it foolishly. Quit sending BILLIONS to foreign countries that hate us. Quit using our military to defend foreign countries who should have formed their own military 50 years ago! Why haven´t any of our members of Congress brought this up? It´s common sense! Not much of that in Washington these days!

CLOVIS, Calif. — Here in the town dubbed the “gateway to the Sierras,” the haze from the Ferguson Fire is fading as Yosemite National Park prepares to reopen, but the debate over how to stop wildfires from razing the state again next year continues to smolder. California’s catastrophic wildfire season has illuminated the yearslong stalemate between those who want to cut back the overgrown, beetle-infested national forests and environmentalists who have axed efforts to fell more trees, blaming the destructive fires on climate change. Now the Trump administration is moving to break the logjam. As he tours one California fire

A Gallup poll released Monday finds that – for the first time in the poll company’s data collection over the past decade – Democrats view socialism more positively than capitalism. The current survey demonstrates only 47 percent of Democrats view capitalism positively, a drop from 56 percent in 2016. Democrats’ view of socialism, however, has remained positive since 2010, with 57 percent having a positive perspective. Meanwhile, Republicans have remained positive about capitalism, with 71 percent taking that perspective and only 16 percent stating they have a positive view of socialism. It was another bloody weekend in the city of Chicago recently with 12 dead and 80 others non-fatally shot. Sixteen of the shooting victims were children. No arrests were made due to a lack of community help. It seemed to be a yawner for most liberal media outlets like run of the mill street violence events have become. Sadly, these killings have become so common that they have become part of the landscape in the American ghetto. The reason is that unless the leftist media can check off something on their gun control agenda they don’t seem to have much

Federal agencies, led by Labor and Health and Human Services, are cutting Obama-era regulations and saving money faster than demanded by President Trump, according to a new report. And as a result, the administration is expected to easily meet the president’s order to cut at least two old regulations for every new one issued and cut the costs of regulations. “With less than two months remaining in FY 2018, the Trump administration is well on its way to surpassing its regulatory budget goals,” said the new report from American Action Forum, which charts federal regulations. “Collectively, executive agencies subject to

Capping a major victory, President Trump signed a $716 billion defense bill Monday that authorizes hundreds of new planes, ships and tanks, increases troop strength and raises military pay, modernizes the U.S. nuclear arsenal and tightens control of government contracts with Chinese technology companies. Ohio Gov. Mr. Balderson appears to have squeaked out a win in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District, where Republicans previously won with “overwhelming numbers,” as the governor put it. That’s raising fears among Republicans about their prospects in swing districts this November. “What you had is a, I think, a message from

Tennessee has carried out its first execution in nearly a decade using a controversial cocktail of drugs including a lethal ingredient described by the Supreme Court as "chemically burning at the stake". Billy Ray Irick, an inmate convicted of the 1985 rape and murder of seven-year-old Paula Dyer, received a three-drug injection on Thursday night after the US Supreme Court denied a final request to stay his execution. The lethal injection consisted of midazolam, used as sedative during an execution, a muscle-relaxer called vecuronium bromide, and compounded potassium chloride, the agent that stops the heart.
