Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia, chair of the Legislative Women’s Caucus who has been at the forefront of the movement against sexual harassment in the state Capitol, has herself become the subject of allegations of sexual misconduct. The Bell Gardens Democrat said she would “participate fully” in an investigation. Politico reported Thursday that two men said Garcia made improper advances toward them. One, a former legislative staffer, said Garcia groped his back and buttocks and attempted to grab his crotch during a legislative softball game in 2014. The former staffer, Daniel Fierro, told his former boss,

When a person leads their life in a liberal lifestyle, somewhere along the way it is going to come back and haunt them. It really comes down to whether you are a believer or a non-believer. Non-believers are always going to try and get a person to live in their fashion. It is too bad because most people have fallen for a liberal lifestyle. God warns us to be careful.

The Petard is becoming a very busy weapon of late.

We laugh at some of these accusations but sexual harassment can be serious, embarrassing and disruptive. I once had a female employee who was not very good at her job so her idea to keep it was to make her boss (me) her boyfriend. She would walk into my office and close the door, "run into" me at places I would likely be after work, call me at home and otherwise make a nuisance of herself. I had her fired and she spread her tearful story around to anybody who would listen. It´s a good thing that I had gone to HR early in her game and they were aware of what was going on.

Aboard USS Carl Vinson, Philippines - U.S. forces are undeterred by China´s military buildup on man-made islands in the South China Sea and will continue patrolling the strategic, disputed waters wherever "international law allows us," said a Navy officer aboard a mammoth U.S. aircraft carrier brimming with F-18 fighter jets. Troops from South Korea joined their Thai and U.S counterparts on Saturday in an amphibious vehicle landing drill as part of Southeast Asia´s largest multinational military exercise. The 300 soldiers from South Korea who joined 2,000 U.S. Marines and Thai soldiers in eastern Thailand marked the highest numbers participating from the East Asian country since it joined the Cobra Gold exercise in 2010, and comes at a time when tensions are particularly high on the Korean Peninsula. San Salvador - Last week, President Trump torpedoed an immigration deal put forward by a bipartisan group of senators. The Senate responded by rejecting his own, harsher plan. By the end of the week, the immigration debate seemed deadlocked between the fate of the Dreamers and the fate of the wall. But one thing is clear: Any plan that purports to make America safer by making it harder for immigrants to obtain legal status and increasing deportations will actually do the opposite. These proposals, embraced by Mr. Trump, are the same decades-old policies that helped transform Mr. Trump’s archenemy, Mara Salvatrucha

The FBI — already facing congressional investigations over its handling of the Russia probe and other political matters — was hit this week with a new batch of inquiries from lawmakers about its failure to act on tips that might have prevented the massacre at a high school in Parkland, Fla.
