Look, I´m as conservative as they come but at some point we have to face the reality that we don´t have enough conservatives to get our way in Congress. This gamesmanship is harmful to our country. I work in the fiscal world for DOD and the inability to plan or budget is severely weakening our readiness. An NCO I work with just had her promotion put back 2 years because the lastshutdown cancelled a school she needed and now there is no open slots for two more years thanks to limited training funds.

Go in and get the best deal you can and live to fight another day.

That is the result of "All or nothing", "Total resistance", "Our way or the highway" thinking. It´s not politics at all. Dems were terribly embarrassed and damaged over their POTUS State of the Union performance. They are disorganized, rebellious, shamed (some), and Republicans (and Republicant´s) are all behaving like little tyrants. There is no government if there is no politics. This next election cycle is ultra important to get this crap to stop.

#3, I understand that for government employees this is highly inconvenient. However, I applaud Dr. Paul who realizes this runaway spending party in D.C. must stop. The Congress who are well-compensated no matter what have put off fiscal responsibility for decades. Thank God for President Trump and those few profiles in courage like Nunes, Dr. Paul and a few others.

I don´t work for the government but am inclined to agree with #3. There is just no consensus in the country for lower overall spending. In that regard if no other the congress represents us pretty well.

You won´t have any trouble finding people who favor lower spending in principle - as long as their own pet program(s) remain shielded from the axe.

Are we headed for fiscal disaster in the next 5 to 10 years? Probably. But no president or party leader has the clout or the votes/support to save us from ourselves.

California Republicans, who haven´t won a statewide election in 12 years and are fighting a pitched battle for the political ground they now hold in the state´s congressional delegation, found themselves facing a new dilemma Thursday. They are on the edge of losing their decades-old status as the second-largest bloc of the state´s voters, their ranks now only two-tenths of a percentage point greater than those of unaffiliated, "independent" voters. "The registration numbers are a reflection of how far away this state has slipped for Republicans," said Rob Stutzman, a longtime GOP strategist. The latest blow came from the state´s official

The two ran against each other in the 2008 presidential election. “Among the people who called to thank me was President Obama,” McCain writes. “I appreciated the call, but,
