Bermuda becomes first territory

Washington Times, by Bradford Richardson

The British territory of Bermuda has become the first jurisdiction to roll back same-sex marriage, less than one year after the unions were legalized by the socially conservative island’s supreme court. Governor John Rankin signed the Domestic Partnership Act into law Wednesday reversing the rights of same-sex partners to wed. The legislation allows any couple to enter into a domestic partnership and gives same-sex couples similar rights to those enjoyed by opposite-sex couples. But such partnerships will not be legally recognized as “marriage.” “The Act is intended to strike a fair balance between two irreconcilable groups in

I guess they believe in the "Bermuda Triangle", but not same sex marriage. So much for "over the rainbow..."

Private contracts and medical proxy/power of attorney agreements have always been available, right? Wouldn´t that be the way to formalize relationship duties and guarantee property ownership issues and so forth?

Why public recognition?

I applaud Bermuda´s move away from fake marriage "equality" and toward marriage reality.

Marriage is a heterosexual event.
That is our event.
If they want to do their own thing, good for them, they can come up with a name for what they do, they don´t have to change the meaning of our arrangement.

Well, we finally know why Omarosa Manigault was fired from the Trump administration. According to a report published Tuesday by Politico, the “Apprentice” alum and current “Celebrity Big Brother” contestant had been using the White House car service as her own personal commuting taxi — and yeah, that’s not allowed. White House Chief of Staff John Kelly dismissed Manigault in December after learning that the former director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison had violated federal rules with her use of the White House car service, three administration officials told Politico.

Welfare for refugees — my,
how the U.S. taxpayer does pay

Taxpayers in the United States are shelling out a reported $867 million each year to support refugees who’ve been resettled in this country and make sure they have adequate food and clothing and the like. In the overall federal budgeting scheme, that’s maybe small potatoes. But at the same time, if we’re talking welfare — and we are — then it would seem the more American thing to pay for those already in-country, already legal citizens, before paying for those who are simply visitors. After all, tax dollars aren’t born from government labors. They come from the taxpayers — they come from the legal citizens. First dibs rightly belong to the

The Israeli military shot down an Iranian drone that infiltrated the country early Saturday before launching "large-scale attack" on at least a dozen Iranian targets in Syria. One pilot was seriously wounded and the other lightly. American aircraft carried out retaliatory strikes in Syria against forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday, U.S. officials said. Syria´s state-run SANA news agency reported that the bombing left dozens of people dead and wounded. NBC News could not immediately confirm that account. No embedded U.S. troops were believed to have been wounded or killed in an earlier attack targeting a headquarters of the American-backed and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, U.S. officials told Reuters on condition of anonymity. Shouldn’t official portraits of America’s presidents and first ladies attempt to resemble them? Monday morning, the Smithsonian´s National Portrait Gallery unveiled their official portraits of former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle. And while both portraits are the work of avant garde contemporary artists, in this case they might be just a touch too avant garde. Barack Obama´s portrait was done by pop artist Kehinde Wiley, who is well known for his hyper-realistic portraits of African American men and women, often done in the style of the Old Masters or with backgrounds familiar to fans of classical, "old world" European art.
