B-CR-TEO
Transgender N.J. pastor to celebrate
with historic renaming ceremony

Jersey Journal [Jersey City, NJ], by Rev. Alexander Santora

Original Article

Posted By:Ribicon, 2/8/2018 11:03:11 AM

When Jesus called Simon to be his first apostle, he changed his name to Peter. On Sunday, Lutheran Bishop Tracie Bartholomew will call Pastor Rose Beeson "Peter" for the first time in what will be a historic "renaming ceremony" at St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoboken. Since last summer, Beeson has been transitioning from woman to man and has shared this process with a supportive parish community. "This a wonderful day in the life of this radically inclusive community," said Mark Singleton, a 21-year member of the church who was on the committee to call Beeson to pastor St. Matthew Trinity

Comments:
Are there enough worshippers of mental illness to keep the pews filled? A "For Sale" sign in the future will tell the tale; maybe a new radically inclusive mosque will take its place.

Apparently, the Lutherans (ELCA we presume) are in a headlong race for worst apostasy and heresy with the United Methodists, Disciples of Christ, and American Baptists. Not a race you should want to win.
Somehow, I doubt that Luther would be pleased.
And pleasing the Lord seems to be the least of their concerns. "Depart from Me, I never knew you" is in their future.

#1,#2,#6,#9- With all due respect, such a blanket statement about the Lutheran Church is most unfortunate and inaccurate. Indeed, the ELCA has gone off the rails as evidenced by the formation of a new synod, the NALC (North American Lutheran Church) constituted on August 27, 2010 due to the ELCA’s “shift in policy toward homosexual members and clergy. The NALC regarded the shift as being unbiblical and symptomatic of growing liberalism of ELCA.”

I wish this woman nothing but the best.\

When a person has inward coherence, her body and mind operate harmoniously. If that harmony is absent and her body is healthy, it´s her mind that´s unhealthy.

Ethically, you assist the mind to match the healthy body, not sabotage the normal, healthy body to match a confused mind.

The doctors who do this are unethical: they are not treating underlying causes, and not aiming for real wellness.

The poor women. I hope she keeps her "girl parts," so that when she realizes that fake maleness isn´t working, she can "transition back" without extra ripping and stitching.

The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) and the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) accept and preach Scripture-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation: “Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone.”
Scripture is very clear about “false teachers” – “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.” (James 3:1)

The national churches of the main Protestant lines have been thoroughly and completely infiltrated by anti-religious zealots and extremist leftists for quite some time.

Not a penny to support these national church groups, they really do NOT represent the religions that they have hijacked.

And look at the Pope, certainly not much of a Catholic.

This is how the left is working to destroy Christianity. Infiltrate the ranks with zealots and try to dismantle it from within.

The Bible still remains.

If I were a Bible-believing Lutheran, I would get out of any of its denominational churches until they changed their name and became distinct. Hard to figure out who´s who when they all call themselves Lutheran. Agreed, this is a perversion and will catch up with this woman/man/whatever. "Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and do not touch what is unclean and I will welcome you" (2 Cor. 6:17)
It always baffles me why people who don´t believe what the Scripture teaches insist on playing church and pretending. It´s a schizo way to live. Then again, there´s a lot of money in those places.

#11/13 – Thank you for the explanation of the various synods under the Lutheran label. I understand your pain with brethren who are unable to accept basic truths and choose instead to break away and reform.

Respectfully, I do have a question about Lutheran doctrine. I’m a bit confused by your quote, “Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone.” You listed three things that are “alone”. How can all three be “alone”?

#23- With all due respect, abandoning Lutheranism is not an option for believers of Scripture-based teaching. Much like President Trump is doing to right the wrongs of left-wing decadent governance, believing Lutherans who are members of Scripture-based teaching synods need to pray for errant Lutherans and challenge false teachings within Lutheranism while providing a safe haven for Lutherans recognizing and rejecting false teachings. Catholics would not abandon their “denomination” to become separate and distinct. Ultimately, true believers constitute the Church on earth. Our Lord assures believers that “…the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Church).”(Matthew16:18)

#24: "alone" has a specific meaning.
Faith alone means faith not dependent on or supplemental to good works. See Romans 3 for a description of what faith means. "Abraham believed G-d, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness."
Scripture alone means not dependent on any writings other than the ones in Scripture. In other words, what the Pope says has no bearing.
Grace alone means we can do nothing to deserve salvation. Salvation is utterly dependent on the work of G-d. It cannot be earned or bought.
"alone" means not mixed with any other operative force.
See the Formula of Concord for details.
These three pillars were insisted on by Luther.
And they were based on years of reverent study of Scripture.

I´m glad to get some clarity on which Synod allowed this to happen. I was raised in the Missouri Synod (Parochial school for 8 grades) and I have always known them to be the strictest of the Synods. I don´t think Lutherans should jump ship just because of this one Rogue church and Minister. Catholics have held firm while their Pastors molested little boys. They also have become more and more lenient on Gay Marriage. I think we all need to just hold firm in our beliefs and let the chips fall where they may. We can choose which Church to attend, so we do not have to support this Pastor who is giving all Lutherans a bad name! God will decide who is right!

I am LC Missouri Synod and joined because this type of hipster nonsense drove me from the Episcopal Church. There is no reason that a person at odds with reality cannot join a church, including a congregation that wishes to be taken seriously. There is, however, an obvious imperative that such a person not act as a leader of that church. Inclusiveness doesn’t mean collective mental illness. This leads to things like the New Hope Methodist Church becoming Marsha Brown’s Creole Restaurant complete with ironic stained glass windows of biblical stories next door to the Wiccan shop and the tattoo parlor.

#32- Excellent post, sincerely appreciated.

#24- #32 is correct. St. Paul makes it easy to understand “Sola gratia,Sola fide,Sola scriptura” in the words of Ephesians2:8-9 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” God’s mercy is generous toward the undeserving.(Romans5:12-21) Grace “is like the benefit of the Lord Jesus Christ upon the cross, which is not a work, but a treasure included in the Word. It is offered to us and received by faith.”

Through faith, God’s gift, is the opposite of works and sight; a trust in God’s gifts, now and to come. (Luke 7:50, Romans 1:17, Galatians 2:16).

Salvation is not the result of works: “Neither Jews who obey the Torah, nor Gentiles who heed their conscience, may claim a reward from God (Romans 3:19-31). Ultimately, “Christ’s merit is obtained not by our works or pennies, but from grace through faith, without money and merit.”

This is disrespectful to the One who created the two sexes.
The hubris of one who would claim that God made a mistake that needs corrected by His creation is blasphemy of the highest order.
She obviously sees herself as superior to God and on a mission to correct his failings.
Any church that embraces this is not a church of God.

#32 – Thank you for answering my question. You clarified the issue for me.

#33 – “They also have become more and more lenient on Gay Marriage.” It was unclear if you were referring the Lutherans or the Catholics. The Catholic Church has not changed its prohibition against gender-neutral “marriages”. Practicing Catholics who are homosexual or lesbian are called to chastity as are single heterosexuals. There are many special ministries available to those who live with such temptations.

#37,38,39 – Thank you, as always, for the Scripture quotes. Catholics also believe that salvation is a Grace Gift from God, totally outside any effort of ours. Although it is a common misconception Catholics do not believe that our works will save us but, just like the fig tree we will be known by our fruits. We are commanded by Christ to be His hands and feet in the world. We do believe that Scripture without Tradition to guide interpretation can lead believers into dangerous waters. Oral Tradition was the basis of Christian belief before The Bible was assembled in the 4th century. The Pope is infallible in only matters of faith and morals. The last papal bull on dogma was in 1854, when the Church formalized the teaching on the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Infallible papal declarations are very rare.

#41- As always, enlightening exchanges sincerely appreciated.

#42- “Judge, cast first stone.” When a believer falls into sin, believers are to try to encourage the sinner to examine the fault.(Matthew 18:15-20) Rather than being judgmental, the attempt is more like compassion that would impel a medical professional to care for an injured person. Jesus gave the keys of the kingdom of heaven to the Apostles (clergy) to forgive or refuse to forgive sins(Matthew 16:19). Believers need to pray for sinners who show no concern for their souls, and work to win them back so they will not be lost forever.

An Iraqi immigrant who allegedly shot a Colorado cop Thursday during a shootout has been involved in a string of crimes for the past five years — yet avoided being deported, a report said. Karrar Al Khammasi, 31, missed his Friday court appearance after he was hospitalized following a shootout with officers in Colorado Springs. Al Khammasi is accused of shooting Colorado Springs Officer Cem Duzel in the head early Thursday morning, leaving the cop in critical but stable condition as of Saturday. Before Thursday’s shooting, Al Khammasi was known to immigration enforcement officials due to his nine prior contacts with police,

A Sudanese asylum seeker who raped a student and then tried to rape a mother in the same cemetery has been jailed for 16 years after admitting the crimes saying: ´Guilty. Yes - why not?´. Sexual predator Ishaq Al-Noor, 21, who came to the UK as a refugee three years ago, carried out ´almost identical´ attacks on the women in June and November last year. Al-Noor lay in wait late at night for both victims to cross his path before dragging them into the same graveyard on Spring Bank in Hull, East Yorkshire. When the rape charge was put to him,

Republican strategist Karl Rove is warning President Donald Trump to ´tone down´ his attacks on the media, saying he sounds like Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin and it could cost the GOP votes in November. ´I think this is over the top,´ Rove said Monday on Fox News Channel. ´Every president has problems with the media. I was in the White House for seven years - I didn´t like the coverage they gave George W. Bush, particularly the liberal New York Times.´ Rove was the mastermind behind George W. Bush´s election as president and served as a White House adviser.

Washington — Celgene Corp. under Bob Hugin, the Republican running for U.S. Senate in New Jersey, raised U.S. prices by 20 percent for its Revlimid cancer drug while cutting them by 45 percent in Russia last year, documents show. The disparity in drug prices is not unusual, experts said, but the pricing practices could provide another line of attack for U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., who has found fertile ground plowing through Hugin´s tenure at Celgene. (Snip) The price of a 21-tablet supply of Revlimid in 25 mg dose was $14,529 in the United States, according to a report

Ohio Gov. John Kasich on Sunday said the GOP needs to find a unifying message to tamp down the “chaotic environment” that seems to dominate political discourse today, citing a narrow victory for Republican Troy Balderson in a special congressional election that should have been a slam dunk for his party. Mr. Balderson appears to have squeaked out a win in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District, where Republicans previously won with “overwhelming numbers,” as the governor put it. That’s raising fears among Republicans about their prospects in swing districts this November. “What you had is a, I think, a message from

"The dirty war on the free press must end." That´s the idea behind an unusual editorial-writing initiative that has enlisted scores of newspapers across America. The Boston Globe has been contacting newspaper editorial boards and proposing a "coordinated response" to President Trump´s escalating "enemy of the people" rhetoric. "We propose to publish an editorial on August 16 on the dangers of the administration´s assault on the press and ask others to commit to publishing their own editorials on the same date," The Globe said in its pitch to fellow papers. The effort began just a few days ago.

Tennessee has carried out its first execution in nearly a decade using a controversial cocktail of drugs including a lethal ingredient described by the Supreme Court as "chemically burning at the stake". Billy Ray Irick, an inmate convicted of the 1985 rape and murder of seven-year-old Paula Dyer, received a three-drug injection on Thursday night after the US Supreme Court denied a final request to stay his execution. The lethal injection consisted of midazolam, used as sedative during an execution, a muscle-relaxer called vecuronium bromide, and compounded potassium chloride, the agent that stops the heart.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Sunday that it´s in President Trump´s best interest to let special counsel Robert Mueller complete his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Rubio, appearing on "Fox News Sunday," echoed a number of his Republican colleagues in defending the special counsel in the face of Trump´s call last week for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to end the Mueller investigation. Rubio said the "best thing that can happen" for Trump and the country is for the investigation to "run the course and for all the truth to come out."

In an op-ed for the Boston Globe, Dani Rodrik, professor of international political economy at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, calls for what is effectively an academic blacklisting of members of the Trump administration, who, Rodrik contends, should be prohibited from receiving "even a semblance of honor or recognition" from the gatekeepers of higher learning. "Universities should uphold both free inquiry and the values of liberal democracy," writes Rodrik. "The first calls for unhindered exchange and interaction with Trumpist views. The second requires that the engagement be carefully calibrated, with not even a semblance of honor or recognition bestowed

A Gallup poll released Monday finds that – for the first time in the poll company’s data collection over the past decade – Democrats view socialism more positively than capitalism. The current survey demonstrates only 47 percent of Democrats view capitalism positively, a drop from 56 percent in 2016. Democrats’ view of socialism, however, has remained positive since 2010, with 57 percent having a positive perspective. Meanwhile, Republicans have remained positive about capitalism, with 71 percent taking that perspective and only 16 percent stating they have a positive view of socialism. The poll finds younger Americans have shown the greatest

Omarosa Manigault Newman made headlines on Monday morning following her contentious Today show interview, but it was her bright yellow dress that baffled style critics and left them wondering what she was thinking. The 44-year-old former assistant to the president looked ready for a cocktail reception in a $550 one-shoulder lace dress featuring a sweetheart neckline and scalloped hem when she sat down with Savannah Guthrie in Studio 1A. Omarosa was promoting her tell-all White House memoir, ´Unhinged,´ but her Karen Millen outfit choice prompted swift backlash from those who felt it was ´incredibly inappropriate´ for the morning show and

I hate to break it to parents who just sent their college-admission-minded progeny to the Tibetan Plateau to churn yak butter, but the smartest summer I ever spent was in secretarial school. This was back when I was 17, and it wasn’t grist for an essay about a transformative communion with people outside my clique. I wasn’t ripping the blinders from my eyes. I was typing — hour upon hour, day after day, with my shoulders back and my spine straight and my hands just so. My mother had decided that she could no longer bear the tortured stutter of my peck-peck-pecking

Last year, when the kneeling controversy erupted like a California wildfire and the president launched a series of attacks on the NFL and Colin Kaepernick, I argued that cooler heads should prevail and a middle ground could be reached by both sides. Like the recovering alcoholic I am, I must have been in denial, hoping like a chronic gambler that Roger Goodell would do the right thing, or even just do his job. Obviously, I was wrong, because here we are again, my friends: another year, another round of protests. And all because the NFL and Roger Goodell have been

Open borders protesters and members of the left-wing anarchist group Antifa chanted death to America during a counter-protest in Washington, DC, on Sunday. In a video by Breitbart News’ Ian Mason, Antifa members and open borders activists can be heard and seen marching down streets throughout Washington, DC, demanding an end to the United States. “No border, no wall, no USA at all!” Antifa and open borders activists chanted. The mob of left-wing activists carried red flags and wore all black with masks and helmets on their heads as a counter-protest to the “Unite the Right 2” protest that took
