Republicans See Trump as Top

Real Clear Politics, by Caitlin Huey-Burns

While conventional wisdom holds that Donald Trump will be a drag on Republican chances of maintaining control of the House, those vying to expand the party’s majority in the Senate are embracing the president as a unique asset in the upcoming campaigns. Unlike the House map, the Republicans´ path to success in the upper chamber runs through 10 states Trump won in 2016 -- five of them by double-digit margins. But beyond those favorable fundamentals, the GOP is looking to the president to lead something of a mass-marketing campaign against well-known Democratic incumbents. Party operatives see the president´s penchant for coining catchy

Please, Mr. President, help us to flush Little Bobby Casey out of office. He has been a burden top Pennsylvania forever, it seems.

Conventional wisdom? Oh yeah, the “wisdom” that still is under the delusion that Hillliary won. That wisdom.

I have come to understand that ´´conventional wisdom´´ is a product of the liberal media. It has been wrong so much as to be funny!

President Trump is a case in point. How many, many times has conventional wisdom been wrong about him? Wrong about the ´´Memo?´´ Wrong about the ´´shut down?´´ and on, and on....

Mueller indictments still miss the

Lewis Carroll once wrote in praise of adjectives, saying that “adjectives you can do anything with, but not verbs.” That is certainly true with the latest indictments by special counsel Robert Mueller of 13 Russians for interfering with the 2016 presidential election. For the White House, the entire report comes down to a single adjective. Let’s see if you can spot it: The Russian defendants “communicated with unwitting individuals associated with the Trump campaign.”Despite a 37-page indictment with a long narrative on a coordinated Russian campaign of interference, the most newsworthy fact comes from the carefully placed adjective “unwitting.”

What Do We Do about the

It´s bad enough for a law enforcement agency to be biased. It´s even worse for it to be biased and incompetent. But the latter seems to be an apt characterization of our Federal Bureau of Investigation in the wake of the killings in Parkland, Florida, where, by their own admission, the organization overlooked warnings about the killer that could have saved seventeen students and teachers from mass murder. This is no mere bureaucratic slip-up and the demand by Governor Scott for the resignation of FBI Director Wray is understandable considering the number of dead children in his state. The incompetence,

Many women are disgusted with the Republican Party, for not-so-mysterious reasons. That has left many liberals hoping for landslide victories in 2018 and beyond. They should moderate their expectations. As much as Republicans´ behavior offends many women, there will always be some women who find the Democrats more unpalatable still. And abortion is the biggest reason why. Some women simply won´t consider supporting a party that trumpets its commitment to "abortion rights." I should know. I´m one of them. Pro-life women are not especially rare. About 38 percent of American women believe that abortion should be illegal in most or all cases.

What is the correct response to mass shootings? Is it legislation or leadership? At the national level, it should be the kind of consistent, persistent leadership that comes from a clear vision and the right words. President Donald Trump displayed an important flash of leadership on Thursday in his address to the nation after the school massacre in Florida. His words were thoughtful, comforting and even inspiring. But playing comforter in chief for the length of a news cycle won´t be enough. It is the responsibility of Trump, and of other leaders, to try and make a lasting impact on the

While the media is filled with stories and theories about Trump’s interactions — or lack thereof — with Russia, not enough attention is being paid to revelations about pro-Hillary Clinton operatives’ use of opposition research that ostensibly came from Russia. With the Democrats unable to govern and lacking much of an affirmative agenda, they want Russia to be the story. Yet with each passing day, more seems to be revealed that not only undercuts the absolute faith Democrats have in the Trump-Russia collusion narrative but also demonstrates just how much they did and how far they were willing to go

While the nation remains transfixed by the deep state skullduggery employed to install Hillary Clinton in the White House, a quiet revolution has been gathering steam in flyover country. The latest skirmish was fought on February 7, when the Idaho House Health and Welfare Committee voted to send Governor Butch Otter’s less restrictive alteration to Obamacare to the full Idaho House of Representatives. The opening salvo took the form of a January executive order from Otter requiring the state’s Department of Insurance to examine all options for making health coverage affordable for Idahoans, whether or not they complied with Obamacare:

Will the FISA memo turn

Forty-six years ago, a group of hamfisted burglars bungled the task of bugging the Democratic National Committee’s offices in the Watergate building in Washington D.C. Two years later, Richard Nixon resigned as president a result of the failed cover-up that ensued. Although Barack Obama is no longer president, the abuses that occurred within the FBI and Justice Department under his watch already have the potential to eclipse the Watergate scandal in their historic significance and damage done to American government. A Beltway adage has it that “it’s always the cover-up that’ll get you, not the original transgression.”

Despite what we keep reading in the “news” media about the failure of the GOP to repeal Obamacare, congressional Republicans and President Trump are steadily dismembering the justly reviled healthcare law, limb by pernicious limb. The latest appendage to be lopped off was among its most dangerous — the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). IPAB was designed by the law’s authors as a rationing board composed of unelected bureaucrats with the power to “recommend” reductions in Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals. This would have reduced access to care for the elderly. That dangerous Obamacare provision

Stage a grand military parade?

The Pentagon has confirmed that it is in the preliminary stages of planning a military parade down Pennsylvania Avenue — one of President Trump’s fondest desires. Trump was, understandably, impressed in a visit to France last July by the pageantry of the Bastille Day parade. The parade dates back to the 1880s. Nothing the United States comes up with will match its resonance or its beloved, unifying nature. Trump’s motivation for ordering up a parade anyway is pretty obvious. He likes big, brassy displays, and he gets a kick out of being the commander in chief of the most impressive military on

After years of non-stop virtue signaling as the party of "truth, justice and equality," the Democrats are slowly, inexorably being revealed to be the reverse. They are being hoisted on the petard of their own moral narcissism. It has made them blind. So convinced of their own righteousness were they that it allowed them to participate in, even instigate, the subversion of our justice system to the extent of lying to and deceiving a FISA court in the name of what they assumed was "good." They did this in concert with people who claimed to be Republicans or "independents" working for

The spending deal reached today in the Senate, like the budget bill that passed yesterday in the House, includes a two-year delay in payment cuts that were about to hit “disproportionate share” (DSH) hospitals. The cuts would have been imposed by Obamacare pursuant to the Faustian bargain the hospital industry made with the Democrats in 2010. The American Hospital Association (AHA) and various other industry groups were suckered into this agreement after being promised that a stampede of newly insured patients were going to come pouring out of the Obamacare exchanges and uncompensated care would drop dramatically.

By the end of the week, the immigration debate seemed deadlocked between the fate of the Dreamers and the fate of the wall. Now that the gun control advocates have had their fifteen minutes of fame, let’s start focusing on the real issues impacting the rise in school shootings since that infamous day in Columbine in 1999. Issue number one that no one in the mainstream media or government wants to acknowledge: fatherlessness. Specifically, the impact of fatherlessness on the boys who grew up to become school shooters. Dr. Warren Farrell, author of the new book The Boy Crisis, explains: Minimal or no father involvement, whether due to divorce, death, or imprisonment, is common to Adam Lanza, Elliott Rodgers, Dylan Roof and Stephen Paddock.
