Taking back the House will be harder
than Democrats think

Washington Post, by Karen Tumulty

Original Article

Posted By:garnet, 2/7/2018 10:03:40 AM

Democrats are feeling cheery at the prospect that this fall will bring an end to the power outage they suffered in 2016 and the near-irrelevance they have endured since. Conditions look particularly good for taking back the House. Off-year elections in a president’s first term nearly always cost his party some seats, and President Trump’s historically low approval ratings are an especially heavy weight for Republicans. The fact that so many GOP incumbents are in a rush to retire is no mere coincidence. Democrats also have enthusiasm on their side, something that hasn’t been the case in a nonpresidential year since 2006.

Republicans better get their act together and make sure they are doing more than simply sending out costly mail surveys, and hoping a booming economy will get people to the voting booth.

The Democrats will be pushing every bus, every Uber, every whatever they can find to get people to vote, and vote Democrat.

They want to return to nearly no growth, they want higher taxes, they want to re-install the thousands of regulations to choke businesses again, they just want to control people´s lives.

Oh, and they want to ensure you never get another bonus check every again.

Ah yes, “historically low approval ratings” brought to you by the same Baghdad Bob polling that predicted Hillary would win in a landslide.

We will keep the House.

The story this morning is about Schiff getting pranked by someone pretending to be Russian, who offered Schiff ´´naked Trump´´ pictures. Schiff bought it lock, stock and barrel, and made arrangements to receive them!

This points out his hypocrisy in blazing lights! His credibility will suffer, even among democrats, for being so stupid!

The dems have nothing to offer other than "We hate Trump and we know you do too". If they didn´t own the national "news" industry that also hates Trump then they would be ignored by most of the public.

But we can´t get careless. We should have large groups of volunteers keeping an eye on cemeteries come this November to make sure the dems aren´t out loading up more "voters" than usual.

Drifting more than a little here, there should be a new adjective -- "tumulty".

In a sentence -

"Did you go home with that chick after last call?"

"I wasn´t that drunk! She was tumulty."

Another failed attempt by the WaPo to spread their anti-GOP propaganda. Trump´s real approval ratings are NOT low. Incumbent GOP RINOs are heading for the hills, not because they are afraid of democrats but because they have angered their conservative supporters and are now unwanted by anybody. New conservatives will be quick to step up.

It is a done deal.
Remember 2016? Clinton was a lock to be elected.
Trump had no chance. All the polls agreed. Clinton did not even need to campaign, her majority was so strong.
It is now 2018. Who´s President, again?
How´s that poll workin´ out for ya, there?
You won the White House in 2016. The polls proved it.
So you will win the House in 2018. The polls can´t be wrong.

Of course not.

They´ve picked up a Senate seat in AL and a House seat in MS so far. While that doesn´t guarantee that they´ll flip the House, it´s still not a great sign...

The Most Important Man in

For the next three weeks, he´s the most important candidate for anything in American politics. While pundits widely focus on his Democratic rival Conor Lamb (understandably, as Lamb is young and progressive, has a military background and comes from a pedigree political family), Rep. Rick Saccone may just be the one to watch. Why? Because everything that is at stake for both political parties rests on his shoulders. If Lamb wins, then every Democrat running in a swing district across the country will try to adapt the Lamb strategy: Avoid the press; take no strong stands on any issue; and just focus on

What Robert Mueller & the Russians

The Russians interfering in the American political process and the Americans expressing the most outrage that Russians interfered in the American political process share much in common. Robert Mueller’s indictment released on Friday charges the defendants with attempting to “hide the Russian origin of their activities and to avoid detection.” One could say something very similar about the whole catalyst of Mueller’s investigation. The origins of it prove terribly inconvenient to Mueller. This explains the reticence of so many of the president’s adversaries to talk about how campaign contributions paid for the information that gained the warrant for electronic surveillance on Donald

Democrats are struggling to cope with the rising popularity of the Republican tax law, less than nine months until the midterm elections. Democrats received a wake-up call of sorts earlier this week when Priorities USA, a top Democratic super PAC, released a memo calling on Democrats to message more consistently against the tax law. The law´s standing has increased in the polls as GOP groups pitch the tax cuts to voters as a solid Republican accomplishment."I think the memo is spot on. Absolutely spot on," said Rep. Cheri Bustos, D-Ill., one of the 12 House Democrats who sit in districts where

Having anxiously watched Robert Mueller blunder around the Beltway for a year with his metal detector and tinfoil hat, the legacy media were doubtlessly relieved Friday when he seemed to have finally found something they could to sink their teeth into. Sadly, for them, there isn’t much to his indictment. All it confirms is the blindingly obvious reality that Russia interferes in American elections. Because we are the big dog and they are the mangy tail that would wag us, the Kremlin tried to influence us via Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. The indictment doesn’t even claim this hare-brained scheme worked.

Lewis Carroll once wrote in praise of adjectives, saying that “adjectives you can do anything with, but not verbs.” That is certainly true with the latest indictments by special counsel Robert Mueller of 13 Russians for interfering with the 2016 presidential election. For the White House, the entire report comes down to a single adjective. Let’s see if you can spot it: The Russian defendants “communicated with unwitting individuals associated with the Trump campaign.”Despite a 37-page indictment with a long narrative on a coordinated Russian campaign of interference, the most newsworthy fact comes from the carefully placed adjective “unwitting.”

It´s bad enough for a law enforcement agency to be biased. It´s even worse for it to be biased and incompetent. But the latter seems to be an apt characterization of our Federal Bureau of Investigation in the wake of the killings in Parkland, Florida, where, by their own admission, the organization overlooked warnings about the killer that could have saved seventeen students and teachers from mass murder. This is no mere bureaucratic slip-up and the demand by Governor Scott for the resignation of FBI Director Wray is understandable considering the number of dead children in his state. Many women are disgusted with the Republican Party, for not-so-mysterious reasons. That has left many liberals hoping for landslide victories in 2018 and beyond. They should moderate their expectations. As much as Republicans´ behavior offends many women, there will always be some women who find the Democrats more unpalatable still. And abortion is the biggest reason why. Some women simply won´t consider supporting a party that trumpets its commitment to "abortion rights." I should know. I´m one of them. Pro-life women are not especially rare. About 38 percent of American women believe that abortion should be illegal in most or all cases.

What is the correct response to mass shootings? Is it legislation or leadership? At the national level, it should be the kind of consistent, persistent leadership that comes from a clear vision and the right words. President Donald Trump displayed an important flash of leadership on Thursday in his address to the nation after the school massacre in Florida. His words were thoughtful, comforting and even inspiring. But playing comforter in chief for the length of a news cycle won´t be enough. It is the responsibility of Trump, and of other leaders, to try and make a lasting impact on the

While the media is filled with stories and theories about Trump’s interactions — or lack thereof — with Russia, not enough attention is being paid to revelations about pro-Hillary Clinton operatives’ use of opposition research that ostensibly came from Russia. With the Democrats unable to govern and lacking much of an affirmative agenda, they want Russia to be the story. While the nation remains transfixed by the deep state skullduggery employed to install Hillary Clinton in the White House, a quiet revolution has been gathering steam in flyover country. The latest skirmish was fought on February 7, when the Idaho House Health and Welfare Committee voted to send Governor Butch Otter’s less restrictive alteration to Obamacare to the full Idaho House of Representatives. The opening salvo took the form of a January executive order from Otter requiring the state’s Department of Insurance to examine all options for making health coverage affordable for Idahoans, whether or not they complied with Obamacare:

Forty-six years ago, a group of hamfisted burglars bungled the task of bugging the Democratic National Committee’s offices in the Watergate building in Washington D.C. Two years later, Richard Nixon resigned as president a result of the failed cover-up that ensued. Although Barack Obama is no longer president, the abuses that occurred within the FBI and Justice Department under his watch already have the potential to eclipse the Watergate scandal in their historic significance and damage done to American government. A Beltway adage has it that “it’s always the cover-up that’ll get you, not the original transgression.”

Despite what we keep reading in the “news” media about the failure of the GOP to repeal Obamacare, congressional Republicans and President Trump are steadily dismembering the justly reviled healthcare law, limb by pernicious limb. The latest appendage to be lopped off was among its most dangerous — the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). IPAB was designed by the law’s authors as a rationing board composed of unelected bureaucrats with the power to “recommend” reductions in Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals. This would have reduced access to care for the elderly. That dangerous Obamacare provision
