Dems Want to Win in 2018. They Shouldn´t.

Although talk of a “blue wave” has been tempered recently by a tightening of the generic congressional ballot, Democrats remain giddy at their prospects of taking back control of one or both chambers of Congress in this fall’s midterm elections. They should be careful what they wish for. To capture the House of Representatives, Democrats need to pick up 24 districts now held by Republicans. Strong recruitment and campaign fundraising have put enough seats across the country in play for Democrats to bring winning the lower chamber within reach. In the Senate, they only need a net gain of two seats,

The democrats have their radical left base solidly contained. Everyone else, not so much! Hatred, lies and anti-American planks in their platform are not winners.

Earlier this week, Candace Owens, a young black conservative, was shouted out of a restaurant by a white crowd screaming obscenities and racial epithets at her and her dining companion, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk (who is white). The police had to be called, and the mob shouted obnoxious slurs at the officers as well. Owens tweeted: "To be clear: ANTIFA, an all-white fascist organization, just grew violent and attacked an all-black and Hispanic police force. "Because I, a BLACK woman, was eating breakfast. They may not be as articulate as Bluto from "Animal House," but America´s Republican loyalists—particularly the #MAGA hat crowd—want the rest of the country to know that they don´t accept the predictions of certain electoral doom this November. And it turns out they have some data to keep their hopes alive. You just have to look really hard to find it. At first glance, the topline numbers look terrible for President Trump and his party: The president´s approval is an underwhelming 43

Big tech has made a big mistake. Swept up in a wave of political correctness and the fallout from the Russia investigation, many of the largest online platforms have embarked upon a fruitless adventure in censorship that can only further divide rather than unite the nation. These internet companies have lost sight of the most basic principle underlying the First Amendment, that no matter how uncomfortable it makes us, we must put our trust in the power of a free market of ideas. Special counsel Robert Mueller’s team of prosecutors have spent several days building what many legal experts consider a slam-dunk case against President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort. But it has been surprisingly hard going at times, and as they prepare to rest their case as early as Thursday, they bear battle wounds that Manafort’s lawyers are sure to exploit as they mount their defense.Even as Mueller’s team methodically piled up evidence of Manafort’s alleged tax and bank fraud, jurors have seen the special counsel’s case hit some potholes. Most notably, Manafort’s attorneys have painted the prosecution’s star witness, Rick Gates,

If President Trump´s re-election prospects hinge on the success of his economic policies, his prospects for 2020 look pretty good right now, a new IBD/TIPP Poll suggests. Americans aren´t just more optimistic, but groups not known to be Trump-friendly in their politics are among the most optimistic of all.We noted in an earlier piece that the U.S. seems to have undergone a significant mood shift, with the share of Americans saying they´re optimistic about the direction of the country rising above 50 for the first time since January 2005. Along with that, the Presidential Leadership Index jumped 3.2% to 45.7

You return from a great vacation and POW — reality hits like a punch in the nose. And that’s not counting the hassle of New York airports and traffic. The pain begins when you remember that the hapless Jeff Sessions is still the attorney general of the United States. It sharpens with the realization that Rod Rosenstein, officially Sessions’ deputy but really the boss of the Justice Department and FBI, continues to get away with the biggest partisan heist of modern times. Rosenstein is guilty of three main sins. One, he gives his spawn, special counsel Robert Mueller, virtually unlimited time, scope

President Reagan once said, “The best social program is a job.” Today, thanks in part to the policies of President Trump, essentially every American who wants a job can get one, providing some financial peace of mind for every able individual in our country. The fresh job numbers are the latest in a string of economic victories for President Trump. The unemployment rate fell to 3.9 percent, hovering near a generational low. More than four million new jobs have been created since President Trump was elected, while black and latino unemployment rates are at record lows. In fact, the latino unemployment

The four-day event was a sequence of workshops on campus activism and student leadership punctuated by speeches by prominent conservatives, from House whip Steve Scalise and Education secretary Betsy DeVos to rabble-rousers like Sebastian Gorka and Anthony Scaramucci. Within 24 hours, nearly every major Democratic public official in New Jersey — from the newly elected governor to influential state legislators to powerful county chairs — had pledged their endorsement. Mr. Menendez’s ability to quickly unite fellow Democrats behind him so soon after his trial concluded in a hung jury and even before prosecutors dropped the case seemed to assure a relatively smooth glide to re-election in an increasingly blue state, which had just elected a Democratic

Most strategists and analysts say this November’s midterms will be determined by turnout. According to this view, whichever party more fully energizes its partisans will come out on top. New data, though, shows this common wisdom has it exactly backward. It’s the voters who sit between the two parties, not the party bases, who will choose which party wins. That’s a surprising finding from the most recent Democracy Fund Voter Study Group poll. This biannual poll, which asks thousands of Americans their views on issues, personalities and voting intentions, has been querying the same people their views going back to 2011

Two important events happened last week in the interminable Obamacare saga that explain why the Democrats seek comprehensive control of our medical delivery system and why this project must be thwarted: The Trump administration altered an Obama-era regulation designed to trap individuals in the “marketplaces” created by the “Affordable Care Act.” The amended rule will provide individuals access to low-cost health coverage, greater benefit flexibility, and the opportunity to escape Obamacare. Not coincidentally, on the very day the new rule became effective, the Trump administration was sued by four Democrat-controlled cities for “sabotaging” the health care law.

At the end of her monologue Wednesday night, Fox News host Laura Ingraham issued a dire warning to the country: "This is a national emergency, and we must demand that Congress act now." The national emergency wasn´t weather-related. It wasn´t a shortage of medicine or food. It wasn´t a cyberattack or terrorist threat. It was, instead, "massive demographic changes." What once might have been a dog whistle is officially a scream, voiced over the airwaves of the President´s favorite cable news network. It´s a sad commentary on Trump´s America.

Friedman said in an op-ed published Wednesday afternoon that if the media emphasize Trump´s personality instead of news about the strong economy, it may discourage enough GOP voters from continuing to support the president and benefit Democrats. "Some healthy soul searching is taking place in newsrooms across the country these days over whether the mainstream media should be covering President Trump’s every tweet and rally," Friedman wrote. The Trump administration is preparing to repeal an Obama-era rule effectively outlawing a wide swath of popular lightbulbs, The Washington Post reported Wednesday. The Department of Energy is ready to scrap a rule broadening the number of lightbulbs that must meet strict energy efficiency standards set to take effect in 2020, according to a document the agency published on its website. The document was later removed from the site, WaPo noted. Former President Barack Obama’s DOE expanded the class of bulbs covered by a 2007 lightbulb ban to include bug lights, three-way bulbs, “rough service lamps,” and some decorative bulbs, such as
