John Mahoney, Beloved Patriarch
of TV´s Frasier, Dies at 77

John Mahoney has died. The actor passed away on Sunday in Chicago, Illinois, his manager confirmed to PEOPLE. He was 77. Born in Blackpool, England, in 1940, Mahoney became best known for his role as Martin Crane in NBC’s Frasier, though he didn’t kick-start his acting career until later on in life. As a child, Mahoney — who was one of eight children from a Irish-Catholic family — witnessed the struggles of war firsthand as it quickly tore apart his parents’ marriage. The British native attended St. Joseph’s College in Blackpool but was determined to immigrate to the United States.

Comments:
Sorry to hear he died. Loved his character on ´Frasier´.

Ah, that´s sad. Sounds like a regular guy. I always enjoyed his "Frasier" character, keeping his two nutty psychiatrist sons grounded. Rest in peace.

Couldn’t agree more with the sentiments in the above posts.
Late night Frazier reruns are one of the happy things in my life.
The series ran so long, two Eddies ended up playing the part. I hope he’s now with them both.

New Jersey voters´ approval of Sen. The poll said 28 percent of registered voters supported two-term Democrat Menendez while 24 percent backed Republican Bob Hugin. An additional 46 percent were undecided. Was it a wolf, some type of hybrid, or a creature that hasn´t been seen in Montana since the Ice Age? On May 16 a lone wolf-like animal was shot and killed on a ranch outside Denton, Mont. With long grayish fur, a large head and an extended snout, the animal shared many of the same characteristics as a wolf; but its ears were too large, it´s legs and body too short, its fur uncharacteristic of that common to a wolf. So what was it? At this point, no one is 100 percent sure. "We have no idea what this

Some NFL players are reportedly considering new ways to protest after NFL owners voted on a new national anthem policy Wednesday, reports Sports Illustrated´s Robert Klemko. According to Klemko, some are discussing ways to skirt new rules "just to spite the NFL." The policy removes a requirement for players to be on the field for the anthem, and gives players the option to stay in the locker room. Teams will be fined for any personnel that "do not show proper respect for the flag and Anthem” on the sidelines. Other journalists were hearing similar things from players they talked to.

Seattle levied an annual tax of about $50 million on big companies last week to help solve the city´s homeless problem. The tax was watered down from the original proposal but it was controversial and pitted the city against its most powerful corporate resident, Amazon.com Inc. Now the action moves to Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. San Francisco, Mountain View, Cupertino and East Palo Alto are all considering similar taxes on large local employers (read: tech companies) to offset growing inequality and overcrowding they blame on the industry that turned them into boomtowns. The optics don´t favor Big Tech.

Georgia Democrats selected the first black woman to be a major party nominee for governor in the United States on Tuesday, choosing Stacey Abrams, a liberal former state house leader, who will test just how much the state’s traditionally conservative politics are shifting. By defeating Stacey Evans, also a former state legislator, Ms. Abrams also became Georgia’s first black nominee for governor, a prize that has eluded earlier generations of African-American candidates in the state. The general election is sure to draw intense national attention as Georgia voters determine whether a black woman can win in the Deep South, a

(Snip) But at a time when Trump is already attempting to re-energize state Republican voters — he met with California conservatives at the White House last week to strategize against the state’s sanctuary policies — the initiative might be risky. For starters, it will be costly: The annual price tag to expand Medicaid benefits to poor adult immigrants without legal status is projected at $3 billion annually.

Starbucks will allow people to sit in its cafes and use its bathrooms - even if they don´t buy anything. The new policy, announced on Saturday, comes five weeks after two black men were arrested at a Philadelphia store after one asked to use the bathroom before he had made a purchase. Donte Robinson and his friend Rashon Nelson, both 23, had been waiting for a potential business partner to discuss real estate development when one of the men asked to use the bathroom and was knocked back. Minutes after the pair had sat down at the coffee shop, the manager called the police and had Robinson and Nelson arrested.
