Just Say No To A Gas-Tax Hike

Taxes: A new report says the White House and GOP members of Congress are discussing raising the federal gas tax to help pay for infrastructure rebuilding. It´s a very bad idea, one that will erase much of the goodwill that came from cutting Americans´ taxes. It´s inevitable that whenever you put a group of politicians in a room, they´ll always try to find a way to impose new taxes to "pay for" something they want. President Trump, in his State of the Union Address on Tuesday, put forth a $1.5 trillion infrastructure plan that would be funded in part by the federal

FTA: ´´A Government Accountability Office report discovered that less than half of all Highway Trust Fund spending goes to actual roads and bridges.´´

Then read further down for some common sense. The tax and overspend politicians should be asked about this article.

Too many little people getting crumbs?

The proposed infrastructure deal is bait and switch anyway, just like Obama´s stimulus.

The problem with any tax is that it never goes down.

Sort of like a government program, which President Reagan referred to as the closest thing to eternal life on earth.

Our DC reps are not to be trusted. They raise money for one thing then use the funds for something else.

It´s not a gas tax, it´s a "gas-bag" tax. The only ones who should ante up are the gas-bags in D.C.

The same politicians who have mandated that new cars & trucks have ever higher gas mileage standards (and ever higher sticker prices) now want to increase gasoline taxes because they aren´t collecting enough from more fuel efficient vehicles. Only politicians and governments fail to see the results of their interference in our lives.

As to higher gas taxes to pay for still more federal spending, remember that 18 months ago then candidate Trump promised to reduce the federal deficit. He´s added almost $2 trillion of federal debt since then and will add at least another $2.5 trillion by the end of 2020. Must have had his fingers crossed just like when he promised to "Lock her up".

Gas prices at the pump are up already, and probably going higher. Adding more gas tax will only increase the pain for middle-income people, who depend on their vehicles to work.

The benefits of the tax reform, and any pay raises/bonuses, will be erased...

Since California passed its latest gas tax, the cheapest gas I can get is 3.15 a gallon, I´m not driving anywhere unless absolutely necessary. Therefore less money at the pump. Karma

Repairing and maintaining the infrastructure is the Government´s responsibility, whether it is for State roads or Federal interstate highways which benefit every American. That is one of the main priority uses for the taxes we already pay. Too often sleazy pols have siphoned those taxes designated for the infrastructure away and into their own personal and/or political agendas, so when the roads start crumbling the pattern is for those same pols to ask taxpayers for more. Yet the roads continue to deteriorate. Enough already!

Also, the idea some pols have of toll roads is but a shell-game with the taxpayers intended to continue paying for the pol´s pet projects while ALSO paying for toll roads. Those pols think we won´t notice?! Elect pols who will use taxpayer´s money for their designated purposes instead of their own personal radical failed PC policies!

Big Government: Nothing brings together the two political parties in Washington like a bill that lets them spend more taxpayer money. Just look at the back slapping going on after the Senate agreed to a budget-busting bill. Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell crowed about how the Senate leadership "worked hard to find common ground." Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer added that "I believe we have reached a budget deal that neither side loves but both sides can be proud of. That´s compromise. That´s governing." Russia Scandal: Bit by bit, piece by piece, the growing scandal of the FBI´s spying on the Trump campaign is being revealed for what it is: an effort to weaponize the federal intelligence bureaucracy for use by Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party. Recent revelations point to former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and a secretive group of supporters and hangers-on both inside and outside of the FBI and Justice Department as having a far deeper personal involvement in the investigation than first thought. Fears of a politicized and manipulative "deep state" are looking less paranoid by the day. The involvement

Fiscal Policy: The Congressional Budget Office says that federal revenues in January added up to $362 billion. That´s an increase of $18 billion— or 5.2% — from the year before. As a result, the government ran a surplus of $51 billion that month, which is equal to the previous January. Wait, weren´t the tax cuts supposed to bankrupt the country to benefit the rich? It almost looks like the tax cuts — which took effect in January — are paying for themselves. That wouldn´t be fair, either. The poll found a sharp turnaround in public opinion on the tax cuts, which were universally derided by Democrats, none of whom voted for it. President Trump rarely if ever reads the President’s Daily Brief — a document that summarizes US intelligence on important events from trouble spots around the world, according to a new report. Instead, Trump relies on a staffer to give him an oral summary, The Washington Post reported Friday, citing sources. The commander-in-chief prefers television to reading and has a notoriously short attention span, according to multiple reports, preferring that memos be kept to a single page with bullet points. But skipping the daily briefing breaks precedent with the last seven presidents to hold office. One source said that reading the document doesn’t jibe with

She initially sparked faux-indignation in the past by wearing spiky stilettos, even on official visits, like viewing the Harvey aftermath. So, when the First Lady got off Air Force One this week wearing not only stilettos but a yellow trenchcoat and sweater, along with a sleek brown leather skirt, she was clearly embracing a vision of strong femininity. As she stood in front of Marine One, she showed how to pull off the wind swept look with the off-shoulder trench coat.
