Mom Sues Walmart to End Policy of Locking

Los Angeles — A Perris mother is taking legal action over what she claims is discrimination against African-Americans by Walmart over their policy of locking up certain products. Essie Grundy told reporters at a news conference Friday she has filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against the retail giant after asking for assistance to buy a 49-cent comb, which was among several products secured in a glass casing at the Perris store. Comments:
Lying Gloria Alread is in on the action, claiming that Walmart discriminates by not allowing highly shoplifted items to be stolen. And go figure, these things are free anyway thanks to EBT.

It is not necessary to name contributors.

Depends OP. Most EBT cards only allow for food items, not personal care goods. Unless you qualify for the EBT card that allows you to withdraw actual money. Not completely sure how that program works.

I can understand why this woman would be upset. But she needs to get it into her head that stores have a right to protect their merchandise from sticky fingers. If they aren´t allowed to, thanks to you they might stop carrying your specific products altogether. Stores don´t exist to provide outlets for sticky fingers. Can´t afford it? Don´t steal, just walk away.

Wal-Mart runs a pretty tight ship.
They don´t waste money locking up stuff unless there is a high rate of theft.

If there is a high rate of theft on products that are used primarily by the African American community, then that reflect DIRECTLY on their own behavior.

Don´t blame Wal-Mart for spending the extra money to lock the stuff up.
Thank them instead for spending that extra money, rather than deciding to just stop carrying the items.

Culture Counts.

My bet is that this is based on loss rate. Seems that the great majority of shoplifters come from a certain 13% ethnic group.

Walmart should publish the statistics on the theft of all beauty products. I´m sure the numbers would speak for themselves. A friend of mine had a business in a black community and had to move. Shoplifting was eating his profits and his business insurance became unaffordable. Community "leaders" complained of the lack of services but do little to develop an environment which allows businesses to succeed. They reap what they sow.

Walmart was being responsible by ensuring that those specialty products would not continue to be stolen in the future and would be available for legitimate African-American customers to purchase, instead of all being stolen by other African-Americans who are the only population group of people who use such products.

In this hi-tech age Walmart knows exactly what the unit numbers are for each individual product that should be on their store shelves for sale at any given time, and how many of each of their products that have been sold in any given time. Example, when Walmart puts 100 units of a product on the shelf, and knows that 10 units have been actually sold, and discovers the other 90 units are missing from the shelf and were obviously stolen, it is only proper for Walmart to secure that particular product or line of products in the future for legitimate customers to purchase and to stop the thefts. That´s not racial discrimination.

Maybe they ought to just treat them like they do with liquor stores in da hood....you want something? You go to the guy behind the ballistic glass and ask...oh, excuse me...ax for it.

They have the right to secure their products. If you don´t like it, lobby all of the thieves in your neighborhood, or order it online.

Why was the product "missing" from her regular store??

The Trump administration’s decision to house children separated from their parents at the southern border in temporary “tent cities” is not only shameful, it’s expensive. It costs three-times as much per person to keep kids at the temporary facilities than it would to allow them to stay with their parents in detention centers, according to a report Wednesday. Housing a child or teenager in one of the newly-constructed tents costs about $775-a-night, officials with the Department of Health and Human Services told NBC News. It costs only $256 per person per night to hold children in a permanent facility like

When thousands descended upon Seaside Park for a meet-up organizers promised would be "fire," officials were surprised. And then they were overwhelmed. The meet-up, spread as a flier on social media accounts without any notice to officials, left police and first responders scrambling to account for the chaos of an estimated 15,000 additional beach-goers (yes, that´s on top of the usual crowds for a busy summer Saturday). Some stormed past a single officer along the boardwalk, skirting beach fees, and a handful ended up in brawls caught on camera, which eventually elevated the underground meet-up to the national news stage.
