House Speaker Paul Ryan on Saturday removed Republican Rep. Patrick Meehan from the Ethics Committee and ordered an investigation after a report that the Pennsylvania congressman used taxpayer funds to settle a sexual harassment complaint. The New York Times reported Saturday that Meehan, a 63-year-old married father of three, professed his romantic interest in an aide last year, grew hostile when she did not reciprocate, and that his office reached a confidential settlement with the woman with the money to be paid from Meehan’s congressional office fund. The report cited people familiar with the settlement, who were not named. "Though Mr. Meehan

NYPD sex-crime detectives once had to hide a woman accusing Harvey Weinstein of assault — stashing her away from both the movie mogul’s lawyers and his cronies in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, a report said Friday.Investigators told New York magazine that they had Weinstein dead to rights in 2015 after he allegedly groped Italian model Ambra Battilana in his office. That was until Manhattan DA Cy Vance Jr., whose office had close ties to Weinstein’s legal team, chose not to prosecute in a decision that still irks investigators who worked the case, according to the mag.

Illegal immigration, sidelined by the so-called “Trump effect” in the past year, is likely to surge 70 percent this year as undocumented aliens try to get into the United States before the president’s border wall is constructed and to take advantage of the booming economy, according to a leading expert. “We forecast total apprehensions and inadmissables across the southwest U.S. border at 590,000 for calendar year 2018. This would be the second highest year since 2010,” said Steven Kopits, president of Princeton Policy Advisors in New Jersey.

In January, after a long day at his London office, Christopher Steele, the former spy turned private investigator, was stepping off a commuter train in Farnham, where he lives, when one of his two phones rang. He’d been looking forward to dinner at home with his wife, and perhaps a glass of wine. It had been their dream to live in Farnham, a town in Surrey with a beautiful Georgian high street, where they could afford a house big enough to accommodate their four children, on nearly an acre of land. Among the nine films nominated for “Best Picture” at this Sunday’s Oscars, two portray the crisis Winston Churchill faced when he became prime minister in May 1940. “Dunkirk” recounted the miraculous evacuation of more than 300,000 soldiers from France, barely ahead of the Nazi forces advancing to annihilate them. “Darkest Hour” portrayed the run-up to Churchill’s historic June 4, 1940 address, which ended with the words that inspired a nation: “We shall never surrender.”

In an article published on Jan. 19, a Colombian journalist, Claudia Morales, described her experience of being raped by a former boss. James Kallstrom is no joke. With nearly thirty years in the FBI, several of them as the Assistant Director, Kallstrom knows how the agency functions far more than most. So when he says there was a plot to protect Hillary Clinton from prosecution and to illegally influence the 2016 Election people should pay attention. Kallstrom goes on to call the entirety of the FBI investigation against Donald Trump completely phony. Maria Bartiromo’s own take appears very much to compliment Mr. Kallstrom’s assertions. The Deep State shenanigans run very deep and in 2016 are linked to the Obama White House. Barack Obama

President Trump says he didn´t collude with Russia in 2016, promising something to a foreign country in exchange for his installation as president. That seems increasingly likely to prove true. Where they do not spring from simple malignancy, critics’ arguments that Trump used Russian intervention to win the election are mostly an excuse to avoid the plain truth that Hillary Clinton deservedly lost because she was an awful candidate. And the country is better for that result. We aren’t persuaded, either, that the Russians’ paltry $100,000 in Facebook spending had anything to do with Trump’s win, given that very little of it
