Microwaves are as damaging to
the environment as cars

Microwaves are as damaging to the environment as cars and users must be taught how to cook more efficiently, scientists say. The ovens are responsible for 7.7 million tons of the carbon dioxide pumped out from the EU each year — the equivalent of 6.8 million cars. Researchers say they are fueling global warming with consumers overcooking food to blame. Microwaves account for the largest percentage of sales of all types of oven in the EU, with numbers set to reach 135 million by 2020. But scientists at the University of Manchester — the first to assess the environmental impact

Comments:
Oh no. Just when I stopped barbecuing to save the earth, I´ll have to stop using my microwave.

I really can´t think of anything sarcastic to say about these Luddites anymore. It´s getting too serious.

Once upon a time these things were rightfully hailed as being far more efficient than a conventional oven. Now they are joining the list of things that are killing polar bears?

Sheesh, let´s just cut to the chase and all of us start eating nothing but raw grass, you know to "save the planet".

Like people don´t "overcook" food using other methods?

As to the amount of "damage", I do not believe it. If you want to tell me that microwaves use as much energy as cars in total, ok, maybe. But "overcooking" using as much energy as cars, baloney.

Microwaving, in general, is an efficient way to cook. For example, if I want a cup of tea, I put the exact amount of water I will drink into a cup and heat it exactly to the temperature I want it to steep at. The old way was to heat water in a kettle to boiling. Too much water and too hot. Plus we have to heat the metal kettle as well.

We are going to cook our food one way or another and equating the energy we use in doing so as "damage" is lunacy.

The article is mostly sensationalism with little content.

Insanity. First point - microwave ovens heat items far more efficiently, using far less electricity than conventional electric ovens.

Carbon dioxide is a beneficial gas, necessary for all green plants to live. CO2 is currently in very short supply in our atmosphere, restricting the ability of green plants to grow and reproduce. The plants are gasping for CO2.

Releasing more CO2 into the air is good, not bad, regardless of the insane, irrational MMGW loons who say otherwise with no basis in science, only faudulent work pretending to be science.

An ICE agent allegedly pulled a gun on a man whose car was being repossessed by the agent’s cousin in The Bronx, then had the victim arrested on bogus charges, a high-ranking police source said Sunday. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Omar Castro was accompanying his repo-man cousin to collect a car late Saturday when the owner, Christopher Jackson, tried to stop them. Castro, 41, blocked Jackson’s car in with his own vehicle in the Foxhurst section, and they began arguing heatedly at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, cops said. DALLAS, Texas-A leader in Dallas politics does not want the National Rifle Association to meet in his city. Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway is urging the NRA to find a new home for its annual convention. He says the meeting is not appropriate in Dallas in the wake of last week´s school shooting in Florida. Caraway also points to the past tragedies in Dallas, including the 2016 ambush that killed five Dallas officers, and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Romney’s statement Monday is strikingly different from ones he has previously made

In the end, the House minority leader was reduced to some adolescent racialist patter about her grandson wishing to look more like his Mexican-American friend. I was thinking of the San Francisco Democrat’s speech last week, during a brief drive into our local town, in a region that is ground zero
