WASHINGTON -- Senate Republican leaders indicated today that they´re trying to forge a deal acceptable to the White House to save the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, but that they´re not quite sure what the president wants to see. Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) met today with Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). The same group of negotiators plans on sitting down again Thursday. "We all want to get to a solution here," Cornyn told reporters outside of a closed policy luncheon on Capitol Hill. "But the

I don´t want to see a ´modified´ DACA and I don´t want a bipartisan DACA bill. I want NO DACA and all of these people gone. They blather on and on about coming here in the past, but they seem to forget Ellis Island. Did no one watch any of the God Father movies? People used to stay outside the country for months and a lot were shipped back home. Get in line and maybe you´ll get in. Sneak over and I´m all for marching you back across the border with a boot in your backside.

Isn´t DACA just another way of saying amnesty? Isn´t it really a shell game contrivance - oh, we will get "the folks" to fall for this one, the "Dreamers" who through no fault of their own were brought here - or sent here -

but it won´t be just the 800,000 or so "Dreamers" will it? The "Dreamers" will then be able to make their parents legal and let´s say each "Dreamer" brings in 10 people, that´s 8 million people, if I have that right

DACA is basically another Obama subterfuge

What we´re getting from both congressional delegations is just posturing and stalling for time.

When you take it down to the bare wood the president´s position (DACA in exchange for several forms of REAL border security) and the Democrats´ ideological devotion to open borders and chain migration are mutually exclusive.

IMO it is not likely any deal will be reached. It´s going to be all about managing the political fallout. Fortunately we have a president who will not take the Democrat/Media BS lying down.

Dear Mrs. Elaine Chow-McConnell,

Please have your husband´s hearing tested. He cannot seem to listen or understand the words of his boss, the President--you know, that guy duly elected by the whole country, not just by the state of Kentucky. Even though OUR President has presented his guidelines for his upgrading and constitutionally sound ideas/goals/demands for this DACA bill, your husband doesn´t have enough hearing or brain cells to understand them. Perhaps you should encourage him to retire. Maybe it´s time for someone with 20/20 hearing to be the Senate majority leader. We´d appreciate your wifely concern for your husband at this point--it would benefit the whole country.

Sincerely...

FORT LAUDERDALE — A safe prediction about the 2018 election in Florida is that Gov. Rick Scott will get trounced in Broward County for a third time. The deepest blue county in the state soundly rejected Scott in both of his races for governor in 2010 and 2014. But Scott won both races, and a big reason why is that Broward underperforms in midterm elections as Democrats vote with their backsides and stay home. Now Scott is a Republican U.S. Senate candidate, and Broward has been transformed by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting in February. But whether the tragedy changes the

Well, it seems the Democratic Party’s fundraising slump continues, even as Election Day draws closer. Polling shows that Democratic enthusiasm has stalled, though last Tuesday’s primaries showed the far left dominated, booting the more centrist candidates the establishment backed. While a lot of things should be going for the Democrats, the opposing party in the White House, history favoring the minority party in an off-year election, and the Left’s unhinged hatred for Trump, that intensity hasn’t translated into filling the war chest for the Democratic National Committee. They just had their worst fundraising month (April) in a midterm year since

That’s the question the Associated Press asks, following the school shootings in Santa Fe: “School shooting may not bring change to gun-loving Texas.” "Guns are so hard-wired into Texas culture that last week’s deadly rampage at Santa Fe High School is considered unlikely to result in any significant restrictions on access to weapons in the Lone Star State" (Snip). What’s interesting is that the AP never hints at what “gun restrictions” the State of Texas ought to adopt. Indeed, it becomes obvious that the AP reporter, speaking for liberals and the mainstream of the Democratic Party, doesn’t much care: any

An election is going on in Venezuela. In a country where there are no more pets and children join gangs to fight over dumpster refuse, while their parents battle for dead rats to eat for dinner, you would expect the incumbent party to lose a free election. But Nicolas Maduro will no doubt be re-elected, in part because the polls are being boycotted by most of his opponents. So Venezuela’s socialist catastrophe will most likely continue, for now. The Associated Press reports: "Sunday’s election has drawn broad criticism since some of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s most-popular rivals were barred from running,

How does the left think that normal people are going to react to the left’s rejection of the idea of rational discussion and debate and it’s attempt to keep them from participating in their own governance? What does the elite think lurks at the bottom of that slippery slope? Do liberals think the normals will A) meekly submit to abuse and be cowed into submission, or B) that the normals will grow even more militant and make their voices heard in other, nastier ways? Spoiler: The answer is B. Donald Trump is just one manifestation of the blowback against the rule-by-contempt our alleged betters currently practice.

As Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro seeks another six-year term on Sunday, it’s clear that he — like the rest of the country — is running on empty. Oil-rich and wealthy just a few years ago, Venezuela today is being gutted by hyperinflation, food shortages, collapsing infrastructure, international sanctions, growing protests and an exodus of the desperate. Maduro, 55, is expected to win Sunday’s vote, which is being decried as fraudulent by the international community, amid opposition calls for a boycott. And analysts expect that will mean more pain, trouble and repression for the struggling South American country.

However, she continues, it elected to investigate quietly through an informant in order to avoid casting public suspicion on the campaign and to thereby avoid injuring Trump.
