The Alabama Senate race was disastrous for Republicans, who found themselves apologizing for a crackpot accused of serious and potentially criminal wrongdoing. Republicans have the opportunity to avoid repeating the error in Arizona where former sheriff Joe Arpaio, a publicity-made abusive lawman and convicted criminal pardoned by President Trump, plans to seek the GOP nomination. Republicans should say no to Sheriff Joe. Long a favorite of Fox News and talk radio, Arpaio is a publicity whore of the first order. An old Washington joke holds that the most dangerous place in America is standing between a senator and a television

Sheriff Arpaio might be a fine man, might have been a terrific sheriff, may have all kinds of attractions for true conservatives, but he is past 80, a convicted felon and will lose that GOP seat. I am not at all sure he really means to run, but his candidacy (if that happens) has zero to do with "MAGA" and more to do with nostalgia from those who have admired him over the years.

I´d have to agree with no. 2. Sheriff Joe is 85 to be precise. Give it a rest already! The Arizona field has already an impressive group seeking nomination and election: Kelli Ward (a physician); Martha McSally; Craig Brittain (he has some interesting ideas that I can get behind). And a few more back benchers.

Yes, his age is a problem. I object to his conviction as a felon since he was subjected to a political kangaroo court, a travesty of justice.

The establishment. Is always quick with a reason why this non establishment conservatI’ve shouldn’t be considered. Always for personal reasons to avoid exposing the real, status quo is the way to go, unprincipled foundations of big government republicanism.

If age is the issue, than a seventy three year old three time loser with no articulable message or defining principle shouldn’t be encouraged to run for the Senate against younger, more representative candidates.

If no Joe, then heck no, Mitt.

Well, here we go again....the NR is trying to keep a conservative out of office through their magazine´s lefty editor. They went all out to do the same thing to Trump and it didn´t work then and I would hope it doesn´t work now.

Poor old Bill Buckley is probably rolling over in his grave. BTW ...did they ever offer an apology to Trump for their losing effort against him ??

Is there another Conservative alternative? If Sheriff Joe were to win, how old would he be at the end of his term? What are the odds that Sheriff Joe might pass away while holding office. Regardless, the Republican Party in Arizona needs to find another candidate. Hopefully not in the same vain as McCain and Flake.

Be practical, drop the emotion. This is deadly serious business we are about to engage in. Lose the House, lose the Senate, you will lose the Presidency, and that means you will lost the courts and that leads to the final loss of this nation and what the Obamas left of our freedom. Yes, lost nails lose wars!

God bless Sheriff Joe. But, now we have to bring the best and fiercest to the front. We have to win- there is no try. Joe’s days are done. His service much vaunted . But, his days are over, his usefulness spent. Now we have to bring the artillery, the tanks, the infantry, and the best of all of it. These people we are up against are vicious, powerful, rich, savvy and mean as fresh cat scat. They might act like loons, but they mean business and take no prisoners. They fight dirty, and they fight perpetually. Joe is going to be minced before them if he tries to occupy that candidacy. He will become a tool for them, the exact same way Teddy Roosevelt became a tool for the connivers and liars who stole the election of 1914 and thus imposed the FED upon us.

We must have the best and the surest. Please, stop supporting Joe- help him to the sidelines and get 100% behind whoever is going to win it and be strong enough to fight like Hell for this Republic! Like I said before, Getting Trump to the Presidency was the easy part. After that comes the real fight.

Arizona and the nation deserve better than to keep ´refilling the swamp´ with leftist republicrats who would be happy to help demonrats derail Trumps agenda and impeach. Here´s an idea: Let´s run a Sheriff Joe-/Roy Moore-type in every Senate and House Race! Maybe we can give Tod "Legitimate Rape" Akin another chance. Then, when the Senate and House are 100% Democrat, we can stop griping about the RINOs and start griping about the Ds. Of course, it will be too late for the country. We will have universal healthcare; universal basic income; a 9th Circuit ideologue in every judgeship in the country; impeachment will be a given; censorship of (only) conservative publications; annual audits of the tax returns of everyone who doesn´t toe the "progressive" line; and same sex marriage won´t just be allowed, it will be mandatory. But, we´ll really have shown the GOPe, right?

Um, has anyone noticed? Our track record for getting fringe candidates elected to Congress is miserable. The Demos are loving it---and probably responsible for goading Arpaio on. He has NO chance for lots of reasons. Give the tough old coot something else to do---get a publisher involved. Keep him busy writing about his Birth Certificate investigation---it would be a best seller.
Sadly, some of us never learn. We´re itching for a fight and a chance to publicly spit in the establishment´s eye. If tough-talking, chest-thumping Sheriff Joe is smart, he´ll refuse to take the bait and instead will outlive them all. He´ll still get to tell his story---just not from a Senate seat for which he is totally unprepared to occupy.
Is it any wonder the Demos just sit back and LTAO.

Sherrif Joe is an American patriot and we should leave it up to him where he wants to spend his remaining years.

And defending the 10 commandments is evil to these republican voters. Even thought the US Supreme Court (no, not the Alabama supreme court) still has them. Woody Allen won an Academy Award, the fourth of his career, just six years ago for writing Midnight in Paris. He was nominated again two years later for Blue Jasmine, a film that won Cate Blanchett a Best Actress Oscar. Despite the controversy that has dogged him since the early 1990s—when he was revealed to be having an affair with his girlfriend’s daughter and was subsequently accused of molesting his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow—Allen has continued to make movies with the same

When you visit, it appears no one can stand each other. The two political sides are at each other´s throats so constantly it´s hard to imagine they sleep. Maybe they don´t. The partial shutdown of the U.S. government that started Saturday is a testament to the inability of our two major political parties to do anything but kowtow to their respective bases, and their failure to sit down together to work out a deal. According to Representative Dave Joyce (R-OH14) the House Intelligence Committee will hold a vote on the release of the four-page Nunes memo that reveals systemic corruption within the DOJ and FBI; including the unlawful use of FISA-702(16)(17) data searches which were part of an elaborate DOJ-FBI surveillance program on the political campaign of Donald Trump. (Tweet) Additionally, Chad Pergram reported that Chairman Devin Nunes met with Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte to discuss the best process to release the memo. There are generally two ways it could be done, the HPSCI vote is the most likely. As more people have become aware

There’s a ghost haunting Elizabeth Warren as she ramps up for a possible 2020 presidential bid and a reelection campaign in Massachusetts this year: her enduring and undocumented claims of Native American ancestry. Warren says now, as she has from the first days of her public life, that she based her assertions on family lore, on her reasonable trust in what she was told about her ancestry as a child. “I know who I am,” she said in a recent interview with the Globe. But that self-awareness may not be enough, as her political ambitions blossom.

The burn continues. What follows are 138 years of scientific records tracing the human transformation of Earth’s climate. The bold pink line up top represents 2017, the third-hottest on record. The only years to exceed it—2015 and 2016—occurred amid a powerful El Nino weather pattern that ripped heat from the Pacific Ocean into the atmosphere. In the absence of El Nino, the swelter of 2017 was unprecedented.

Comic book readers are apparently not fans of progressive politics—a fact no more evident in Marvel’s decision to cancel every single one of its comics that has been nominated by the LGBTQ advocacy group, GLAAD. In December, the publisher announced its decision to cancel many of its comics, citing poor sales. LGBTQ, feminist, and social justice-themed comics involving stories that revolved around Black Lives Matter, illegal immigration, and LGBTQ issues were among those to end up on the chopping block.

Adam Schiff, reputedly a champion leaker from the House Intelligence Committee when it came to Russiagate material, suddenly thinks Ignorance is Bliss when it comes to the FISA warrant used to spy on the Trump campaign. Appearing on CNN, he tried to justify keep the 4 page memo that reportedly exposes the individuals who acted as part of a cabal to undermine the Trump campaign with help from NSA spying, and then pushed the “Russia collusion” conspiracy theory as part of the “insurance policy.” Americans are too ignorant, you see. Do you think Democrats are starting to panic? (Video) Rush
