The Alabama Senate race was disastrous for Republicans, who found themselves apologizing for a crackpot accused of serious and potentially criminal wrongdoing. Republicans have the opportunity to avoid repeating the error in Arizona where former sheriff Joe Arpaio, a publicity-made abusive lawman and convicted criminal pardoned by President Trump, plans to seek the GOP nomination. Republicans should say no to Sheriff Joe. Long a favorite of Fox News and talk radio, Arpaio is a publicity whore of the first order. An old Washington joke holds that the most dangerous place in America is standing between a senator and a television

Once again, NRO stands with the RINOs and against MAGA. Why?

Sheriff Arpaio might be a fine man, might have been a terrific sheriff, may have all kinds of attractions for true conservatives, but he is past 80, a convicted felon and will lose that GOP seat. I am not at all sure he really means to run, but his candidacy (if that happens) has zero to do with "MAGA" and more to do with nostalgia from those who have admired him over the years.

I´d have to agree with no. 2. Sheriff Joe is 85 to be precise. Give it a rest already! The Arizona field has already an impressive group seeking nomination and election: Kelli Ward (a physician); Martha McSally; Craig Brittain (he has some interesting ideas that I can get behind). And a few more back benchers.

Yes, his age is a problem. I object to his conviction as a felon since he was subjected to a political kangaroo court, a travesty of justice.

The establishment. Is always quick with a reason why this non establishment conservatI’ve shouldn’t be considered. Always for personal reasons to avoid exposing the real, status quo is the way to go, unprincipled foundations of big government republicanism.

If age is the issue, than a seventy three year old three time loser with no articulable message or defining principle shouldn’t be encouraged to run for the Senate against younger, more representative candidates.

If no Joe, then heck no, Mitt.

Well, here we go again....the NR is trying to keep a conservative out of office through their magazine´s lefty editor. They went all out to do the same thing to Trump and it didn´t work then and I would hope it doesn´t work now.

Poor old Bill Buckley is probably rolling over in his grave. BTW ...did they ever offer an apology to Trump for their losing effort against him ??

Joe, you´re 85 years old. Go in peace, enjoy the years that you have left on this earth. Leave it to the "young lions", it is their deal to win or lose. I´m not too far behind you in age, Joe, but it is now their world.

Is there another Conservative alternative? If Sheriff Joe were to win, how old would he be at the end of his term? What are the odds that Sheriff Joe might pass away while holding office. Regardless, the Republican Party in Arizona needs to find another candidate. Hopefully not in the same vain as McCain and Flake.

Be practical, drop the emotion. This is deadly serious business we are about to engage in. Lose the House, lose the Senate, you will lose the Presidency, and that means you will lost the courts and that leads to the final loss of this nation and what the Obamas left of our freedom. Yes, lost nails lose wars!

God bless Sheriff Joe. But, now we have to bring the best and fiercest to the front. We have to win- there is no try. Joe’s days are done. His service much vaunted . But, his days are over, his usefulness spent. Now we have to bring the artillery, the tanks, the infantry, and the best of all of it. These people we are up against are vicious, powerful, rich, savvy and mean as fresh cat scat. They might act like loons, but they mean business and take no prisoners. They fight dirty, and they fight perpetually. Joe is going to be minced before them if he tries to occupy that candidacy. He will become a tool for them, the exact same way Teddy Roosevelt became a tool for the connivers and liars who stole the election of 1914 and thus imposed the FED upon us.

We must have the best and the surest. Please, stop supporting Joe- help him to the sidelines and get 100% behind whoever is going to win it and be strong enough to fight like Hell for this Republic! Like I said before, Getting Trump to the Presidency was the easy part. After that comes the real fight.

Arizona and the nation deserve better than to keep ´refilling the swamp´ with leftist republicrats who would be happy to help demonrats derail Trumps agenda and impeach. Unless of course, that is what you prefer.

Here´s an idea: Let´s run a Sheriff Joe-/Roy Moore-type in every Senate and House Race! Maybe we can give Tod "Legitimate Rape" Akin another chance. Then, when the Senate and House are 100% Democrat, we can stop griping about the RINOs and start griping about the Ds. Of course, it will be too late for the country. We will have universal healthcare; universal basic income; a 9th Circuit ideologue in every judgeship in the country; impeachment will be a given; censorship of (only) conservative publications; annual audits of the tax returns of everyone who doesn´t toe the "progressive" line; and same sex marriage won´t just be allowed, it will be mandatory. But, we´ll really have shown the GOPe, right?

Um, has anyone noticed? Our track record for getting fringe candidates elected to Congress is miserable. The Demos are loving it---and probably responsible for goading Arpaio on. He has NO chance for lots of reasons. Give the tough old coot something else to do---get a publisher involved. Keep him busy writing about his Birth Certificate investigation---it would be a best seller.
Sadly, some of us never learn. We´re itching for a fight and a chance to publicly spit in the establishment´s eye. If tough-talking, chest-thumping Sheriff Joe is smart, he´ll refuse to take the bait and instead will outlive them all. He´ll still get to tell his story---just not from a Senate seat for which he is totally unprepared to occupy.
Is it any wonder the Demos just sit back and LTAO.

Roy Moore was hung for what he "allegedly" did but Hillary and Barry have actual American blood on their hands. Kind of puts a little ogling of teenage girls into perspective, doesn´t it? Lady Justice wears a blindfold and holds a set of scales. In Washington, not so much.

Sherrif Joe is an American patriot and we should leave it up to him where he wants to spend his remaining years.

Apparently unsubstantiated allegations (and where are the accusers now?) against a conservative is worse than voting liberal democrat. And defending the 10 commandments is evil to these republican voters. Even thought the US Supreme Court (no, not the Alabama supreme court) still has them. SAN DIEGO, Calif. — A federal judge on Monday ordered a temporary halt to any deportations of immigrant families who were reunited after being separated by the Trump administration at the border. U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw imposed a delay of at least a week after a request from the American Civil Liberties Union, which cited "persistent and increasing rumors ... that mass deportations may be carried out imminently and immediately upon reunification." Justice Department attorney Scott Stewart opposed the delay but did not address the rumors in court. He said he would respond later in writing. The judge gave the

Veni, vidi, vici. That’s what Trump would have tweeted en route to a weekend of golf at his courses in Scotland had he not forgotten his high school Latin. Traditional diplomat Nicholas Burns, former U.S. ambassador to NATO, says “The president treated the NATO allies almost with contempt.” Delete “almost” and Burns has it right. But the tone of Trump’s tweets and comments are best understood as the exasperation of this American president who wants to succeed where his predecessors failed—ending that part of the post-World War II settlement that disadvantages America. And if that means abandoning traditional diplomacy in

Yesterday’s hearing on Capitol Hill featuring FBI agent Peter Strzok quickly turned into a political firefight among lawmakers, but overall it was a damning illustration of the toxic culture that exists within the Washington, D.C., beltway. At one point, Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy confronted the former investigator over some anti-Trump texts he had sent. In 2016, after FBI lawyer Lisa Page asked Strzok if Trump would ever become the president, his response was, “No. No he won’t. Whether Democrats realize it or not, the names being tossed as potential 2020 challengers to President Trump are weak. It’s milquetoast. All far too left for the American voter, and all with rigid regional appeal. Who knows who Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) is outside of New Jersey? The same could be said for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY). Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) doesn’t resonate outside of the Boston suburbs. And Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), well, she’s working hard to boost her profile, but she’s running aground with the Bernie crowd. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) could run again, but his age—and the

President Donald Trump’s comments during a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday were “treasonous,” former CIA Director John Brennan asserted. “Donald Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of ‘high crimes & misdemeanors,’” Brennan, a vocal Trump critic, wrote on Twitter. “It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???” Trump and Putin fielded questions from reporters at a joint summit in Helsinki following a one-on-one meeting earlier in the day. Trump praised Putin during

Democratic Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen on Monday called for the “military folks” to save America from President Donald Trump after Trump’s much-criticized press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Where are our military folks? The Commander in Chief is in the hands of our enemy!” Cohen wrote on Twitter, using language suggestive of a military coup. (Tweet) Cohen later said that he was in no way calling for a coup. “No coup called for,” he wrote, claiming it unlikely that someone would call for a coup on Twitter. Cohen’s bizarre tweet was similar to one from former Obama CIA Director

A 63-year-old father of 43 children was found beaten to death Sunday afternoon in his home on Chicago´s West Side. The body of John Hearring -- known as Nicholas -- was discovered with head trauma in his upstairs apartment in the 1000-block of North Leamington Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood. Multiple family members confirmed that he had 43 children. Hearring was a long-time resident there and well-known in the neighborhood. "He was the nicest man you´d ever want to meet. I don´t get it. All this killing is so senseless and now they are targeting the elderly," said Gwen Bridgeforth, his daughter-in-law.
