The Alabama Senate race was disastrous for Republicans, who found themselves apologizing for a crackpot accused of serious and potentially criminal wrongdoing. Republicans have the opportunity to avoid repeating the error in Arizona where former sheriff Joe Arpaio, a publicity-made abusive lawman and convicted criminal pardoned by President Trump, plans to seek the GOP nomination. Republicans should say no to Sheriff Joe. Long a favorite of Fox News and talk radio, Arpaio is a publicity whore of the first order. An old Washington joke holds that the most dangerous place in America is standing between a senator and a television

Sheriff Arpaio might be a fine man, might have been a terrific sheriff, may have all kinds of attractions for true conservatives, but he is past 80, a convicted felon and will lose that GOP seat. I am not at all sure he really means to run, but his candidacy (if that happens) has zero to do with "MAGA" and more to do with nostalgia from those who have admired him over the years.

I´d have to agree with no. 2. Sheriff Joe is 85 to be precise. Give it a rest already! The Arizona field has already an impressive group seeking nomination and election: Kelli Ward (a physician); Martha McSally; Craig Brittain (he has some interesting ideas that I can get behind). And a few more back benchers.

Yes, his age is a problem. I object to his conviction as a felon since he was subjected to a political kangaroo court, a travesty of justice.

If age is the issue, than a seventy three year old three time loser with no articulable message or defining principle shouldn’t be encouraged to run for the Senate against younger, more representative candidates.

If no Joe, then heck no, Mitt.

Well, here we go again....the NR is trying to keep a conservative out of office through their magazine´s lefty editor. They went all out to do the same thing to Trump and it didn´t work then and I would hope it doesn´t work now.

Poor old Bill Buckley is probably rolling over in his grave. BTW ...did they ever offer an apology to Trump for their losing effort against him ??

Is there another Conservative alternative? If Sheriff Joe were to win, how old would he be at the end of his term? What are the odds that Sheriff Joe might pass away while holding office. Regardless, the Republican Party in Arizona needs to find another candidate. Hopefully not in the same vain as McCain and Flake.

Be practical, drop the emotion. This is deadly serious business we are about to engage in. Lose the House, lose the Senate, you will lose the Presidency, and that means you will lost the courts and that leads to the final loss of this nation and what the Obamas left of our freedom. Yes, lost nails lose wars!

God bless Sheriff Joe. But, now we have to bring the best and fiercest to the front. We have to win- there is no try. Joe’s days are done. His service much vaunted . But, his days are over, his usefulness spent. Now we have to bring the artillery, the tanks, the infantry, and the best of all of it. These people we are up against are vicious, powerful, rich, savvy and mean as fresh cat scat. They might act like loons, but they mean business and take no prisoners. They fight dirty, and they fight perpetually. Joe is going to be minced before them if he tries to occupy that candidacy. He will become a tool for them, the exact same way Teddy Roosevelt became a tool for the connivers and liars who stole the election of 1914 and thus imposed the FED upon us.

We must have the best and the surest. Please, stop supporting Joe- help him to the sidelines and get 100% behind whoever is going to win it and be strong enough to fight like Hell for this Republic! Like I said before, Getting Trump to the Presidency was the easy part. After that comes the real fight.

Arizona and the nation deserve better than to keep ´refilling the swamp´ with leftist republicrats who would be happy to help demonrats derail Trumps agenda and impeach. Here´s an idea: Let´s run a Sheriff Joe-/Roy Moore-type in every Senate and House Race! Maybe we can give Tod "Legitimate Rape" Akin another chance. Then, when the Senate and House are 100% Democrat, we can stop griping about the RINOs and start griping about the Ds. Of course, it will be too late for the country. We will have universal healthcare; universal basic income; a 9th Circuit ideologue in every judgeship in the country; impeachment will be a given; censorship of (only) conservative publications; annual audits of the tax returns of everyone who doesn´t toe the "progressive" line; and same sex marriage won´t just be allowed, it will be mandatory. But, we´ll really have shown the GOPe, right?

Um, has anyone noticed? Our track record for getting fringe candidates elected to Congress is miserable. The Demos are loving it---and probably responsible for goading Arpaio on. He has NO chance for lots of reasons. Give the tough old coot something else to do---get a publisher involved. Keep him busy writing about his Birth Certificate investigation---it would be a best seller.
Sadly, some of us never learn. We´re itching for a fight and a chance to publicly spit in the establishment´s eye. If tough-talking, chest-thumping Sheriff Joe is smart, he´ll refuse to take the bait and instead will outlive them all. He´ll still get to tell his story---just not from a Senate seat for which he is totally unprepared to occupy.
Is it any wonder the Demos just sit back and LTAO.

Roy Moore was hung for what he "allegedly" did but Hillary and Barry have actual American blood on their hands. Kind of puts a little ogling of teenage girls into perspective, doesn´t it? Lady Justice wears a blindfold and holds a set of scales. In Washington, not so much.

Sherrif Joe is an American patriot and we should leave it up to him where he wants to spend his remaining years.

Apparently unsubstantiated allegations (and where are the accusers now?) against a conservative is worse than voting liberal democrat. And defending the 10 commandments is evil to these republican voters. Even thought the US Supreme Court (no, not the Alabama supreme court) still has them. It’s not just Hillary Clinton who can’t quit Russia. The whole Democratic Party keeps going back to 2016. In a move that reeks of desperation, the DNC filed a civil suit Friday against President Trump’s campaign, Russia and WikiLeaks, alleging a vast (right wing!) conspiracy to tip the election to Trump. The suit’s flamboyant charges made headlines, but that only served to obscure the real meaning. Namely, that top Dems are giving up their fantasies that special counsel Robert Mueller will deliver them from political purgatory by getting the goods on Trump. The trashy suit is their way of trying to keep impeachment

Yes, that TPP, the same multilateral trade deal that Trump savaged during the 2016 presidential campaign and withdrew the United States from in the early days of his administration. Conservative author and commentator Brad Thor announced on Twitter Saturday evening that he would challenge President Trump in the 2020 Republican presidential primary. Thor sent out a series of tweets Saturday announcing his intent to run against Trump if no other conservative would run against him. (Tweet) “If no conservative steps up, I will absolutely challenge Donald Trump in 2020, he said. “America deserves better leadership.” A few minutes later, Thor made it “official,” tweeting, “I’m in.” (Tweet) Following the series of tweets, Thor confirmed that he would be launching a bid. “The pages of history do not care if

Norm Macdonald, in addition to being the best Weekend Update anchor ever, is also a keen student of human nature. Last year he summed up the results of the 2016 presidential election with this koan-like observation: "People hated Hillary Clinton so much that they voted for someone they hated more than Hillary Clinton in order to rub it in." I really think that sums up our current moment. A lot of people, myself included, underestimated just how tired of Hillary everyone was. After a quarter-century of listening to that awful old criminal´s angry, scolding voice, America finally said enough was

A funny thing happened on the way to this week’s column — Sen. Jon Tester did something I liked. On Wednesday, Sen. Tester took part in a Senate Commerce Committee hearing where he blasted someone who is perhaps the least popular man in America. No, not Jeff Zuckerberg (he is SO last week!). I’m talking about Adrian Abramovitch. Chances are, you’ve never heard of Abramovitch, but even so, I am confident that — along with me and Sen. Tester — you don’t like him! Indeed, when you find out that Abramovitch is accused of making nearly 100 million robocalls in

AMSTERDAM -- Amnesty International gave former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick its Ambassador of Conscience Award on Saturday for his kneeling protest of racial injustice that launched a sports movement and might have cost him his job. (Snip) "Racialized oppression and dehumanization is woven into the very fabric of our nation -- the effects of which can be seen in the lawful lynching of black and brown people by the police, and the mass incarceration of black and brown lives in the prison industrial complex," Kaepernick said. Kaepernick first took a knee during the pre-game playing of the American national anthem

A Fresno State professor who called the late Barbara Bush “racist” soon after her death Tuesday, and said she was glad “the witch is dead,” continues to face fallout as donors mull ceasing donations to the institution. Randa Jarrar, an English professor at the school (also known as California State University at Fresno), sparked outrage Tuesday just hours after the former first lady died at age 92, writing a number of tweets attacking Bush and the family. “Barbara Bush was a generous and smart and amazing racist who, along with her husband, raised a war criminal. Residents in the San Francisco Bay Area are living along a fault that is a "ticking time bomb" that could generate an earthquake that could kill hundreds, according to a report released Wednesday. The U.S. Geological Survey said in a report called the "HayWired Scenario" that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake on Hayward Fault located under Oakland could kill as many as 800 people and injure up to 18,000. “This fault is what we sort of call a tectonic time bomb,” USGS earthquake geologist emeritus David Schwartz told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s just waiting to go off.” Researches said the Hayward Fault is dangerous because it runs through
