´He feels really bad´: Civil Defense employee
who sparked terror in Hawaii by accidentally
triggering ballistic MISSILE warning will be ´retrained´
say officials after thousands fled to bomb shelters

Daily Mail UK, by Keith Griffith and Jennifer Smith

A Civil Defense employee is set to be retrained after a shocking blunder on Saturday morning, when a mistaken alert warning of an inbound ballistic missile sent thousands fleeing for shelter. The false alarm was caused by a Hawaii Emergency Management Agency employee who ´pushed the wrong buttons´ during an internal drill timed to coincide with a shift handover at 8.07am. The all-clear phone alert was not sent until 38 minutes later. Incredibly, officials said the employee who made the mistake wasn´t aware of it until mobile phones in the command center began displaying the alert. ´This guy feels bad,

Retrained??!! He should be strung up be his gonads for all of the panic he caused!!! People putting their children in storm drains!! Others calling loved ones on the mainland to say goodbye!! But, hey, as long as he feeeeels really bad.....

This clown has no business being trusted with so much as a burnt-out match.

For once, government, demonstrate the concept of personal responsibility by example.

I look at this as a VERY big oooppps. I´m not saying it´s one bit funny and it could have been much worse.
I would like to know just how much training he had before being put in that position.
Everybody here who spent any time in military understands the amount of training we would get before being allowed to do anything. Especially on our own.

Not the first time. In 1971, Cheyenne CO sent out a national emergency warning to the media.

This is an air check of those announcements.

I´m wondering WHY there is no conversation that WE DIDN´T RESPOND to the incoming missile.

It was 38 minutes to denounce the threat - Did we have to recall or destroy the missiles we fired in response, recall the B2 or F111 bombers ???? Or, is the plan to absorb the first strike and complain about it at the UN ??

Now, little Rocketman knows how long he has before ANY kind of response is launched.

I posted a thingy on one site where I said, I bet the guy is a Democrat gimmi job dude, and sure enough, I was right. The place is a nest of nothing but Democratic party idiots and this is what happens. If the person responsible had been a white man he would be toasted. There could have been only one reason the Gov was reluctant to come out and say "Responsible party must be fired!" he was scared the guy would be a minority, a gay, a woman, a felon, an illegal or a tranny. So, they go, "Well, he feels really bad...so, can´t we just move on?" With Democrats all personal responsibility ends with a progressive card. The guy could have nuked Hawaii himself and not gotten fired for it so long as he was one of the "chosen" favorite people.

I dont know what software they use for this program, but I got trained on the one they use at my work for the same purpose. It is a freaking nightmare! It is unnecessarily complicated, confusing and I cant believe anyone paid for that carp. If you dont use it every day, you´re going to mess up when you DO use it.
I´m going to hold back on judging this one for now. I´ve seen how lousy the system can be.

FTA. The EMA administrator said that cooling tensions between North and South Korea should have been a signal to residents that the alert was mistaken, urging Hawaiians to ´keep informed on what´s going on on the tension between the two countries and monitor that.´

This man is an IDIOT and needs to be replaced.

#4 This was not generated by NORAD. It was a local civil defense warning system. They have no way to detect an incoming missile and would receive notice from NORAD before setting off their warnings. No response because no threat.

After a thorough assessment it has been determined that it is Trump´s fault.

Not kidding.

Tesla Gabber has already made the charge.

His mis-handling of the Norks is the whole problem.

If Donald cared about people this would never happen.

Hawaii is clearly populated by children and led by children who are upset after having set the house on fire.

Since Hawaii is essentially a one party run liberal Democrat run State, “feelings” are very important there. Some there have even been “feeling” that is a really all President Trump’s fault as his tweets have hurt Mr. Kim’s “feelings” as Trump attempts to gain Kim’s attention and denuclearize the Korean Peninsula. In the future, if Kim succeeds in building and deploying 50-100 long range ballistic missiles topped with nuclear warheads, some of them aimed at Hawaii, a lot of “feelings” are going to be hurt there. It’s just another example of the liberals seeing the world in a way they think it should be, and not as it really is.

In government, you only get fired for little mistakes, not big mistakes. Witness the VA, where there´s been a purge of housekeepers and claims processors while everyone in management has kept their job, notwithstanding Arizona VAMC killing Veterans, $300,000 in televisions sitting in a warehouse in Colorado because they´re not compatible with the new hospital wiring, and a recent IG report that Roanoke was cooking the books on appeals since 2008.

I´m sorry I find responsibility with a few people. First the guy who pressed the button wasn´t paying attention and the easy fix of RETRAINING doesn´t exist. There is no such thing as retraining. You train, you follow up, you coach before you turn the person loose. This is a management mistake. They may want to blame the guy but it´s the managements fault. Then we can also blame the person who came up with the plan. Why wasn´t redundancy built in? Why did it take so long to respond? Sounds like this problem needs to start all over. Who´s in charge?

Brings to mind the Orson Wells false Martian Invasion stunt of Oct. 30, 1938. Poor Hawaiians fell for the fake Nuclear Missile Attack Warning too. Orson Wells must have had a Good Laugh from wherever he is in the afterlife?

"Orson Welles causes a nationwide panic with his broadcast of “War of the Worlds”—a realistic radio dramatization of a Martian invasion of Earth. Orson Welles was only 23 years old when his Mercury Theater company decided to update H.G. Wells’ 19th-century science fiction novel War of the Worlds for national radio."

Barbra Streisand!

it doesn´t work that way - at a local TV or radio station (Depending on the type of EAS) it takes several button pushes in a specific order to trigger a local alert - to create a state wide EAS/PAWS to go over cell phones and all broadcast and cable takes considerably more

Color me skeptical. In my engineering career, I would apply a modified Occam´s razor to such things. The underlying “cause” is the most straightforward one that answers all known questions:

* Why did the message not provide further sources of information (phone numbers, urls, etc.)? (Routine to assist rather than frighten the public.)
* Why were companion alerts (sirens, reverse 911, emergency broadcast system) not activated? (Typically linked automatically.)
* This happened at 8AM: why was the Governor not immediately on air to calm things down? (This was not a 3AM call.)
* Why didn´t broadcast reporters contact military et al to corroborate the warning? (That is their job, and news shows should have been on air.)
* Why are dismissal of terrorism and cyber attack “knee-jerk” responses to these things? (Containment of political damage seems to be paramount.)
* Why did it take 38 minutes to undo the “mistake”? (Cyber attacks routinely “lock” the computers to thwart ability to quickly remedy the situation.)
* Why was this HEMA employee brought forth so quickly? (He should know that his career is over. Feels more like setup of a “patsy”.)
* Why did this happen in a solidly blue state? (Rhetorical question.)
* Why did this quickly morph into calls to appease KJU? (Democrats will be democrats: Never let a good crisis go to waste.)

IMO either a cyber attack and subsequent coverup or a deliberate political ploy would answer all of these questions.

I´m leaning more towards Dhim political theater. I think the emergency director who cited the "cooling tensions between North and South Korea..." may have given us a clue.

The Dhims were trying to paint Hawaiians as the innocent lambs that would be sacrificed on the altar of Trump´s bombastic war mongering. But, things have been pretty quiet lately from the Hermit Kingdom as they realized President Trump could not be rolled like presidents Clinton, Bush, and Ozero. In fact any news of Lil Kim has dropped off the radar.

I wouldn´t put it past the movers and shakers in the islands to decide they needed something to ramp up the panic again because Donald Trump was being too successful.

No one likes having a camera shoved in their face. And it seems turtles aren´t an exception. Hilarious photographs captured underwater show a turtle, called Terry, appearing to swear at a diver off the coast of Queensland, in Australia. The remarkable image was captured by Mark Fitz, a travel photographer who was on Lady Elliot Island, on the Great Barrier Reef. The angry turtle is seen putting up his middle finger - commonly known as the rude finger - as he swam among the coral reefs.

TUCSON, Ariz. — Border Patrol agents in Tucson say they have arrested a previously convicted child sex offender as he allegedly tried to illegally re-enter the United States. The agency reported Wednesday that its agents arrested the man Tuesday evening near the isolated border crossing of Sasabe, about 75 miles west of Nogales. A records check showed that 31-year-old Mexican national Moises Bautista-Ortiz had been convicted of child molestation in Maricopa County Superior Court in January 2013 and was sentenced to life probation.

Astronomers have spotted 72 extremely bright and quick events flashing in the sky - and they have no idea what they are. The mysterious explosions are similar in brightness to supernovae, which are the gigantic explosions of dying stars. months at a time. However, the latest 72 mysterious explosions 4 billion light years away can only be seen from a week to a month. The most recent signals span up to one hundred times the distance from the Earth to the sun in size (around 9,300 miles/ 15,000 million kilometres), researchers believe.

Gun rights activists gave away 1,200 free high capacity magazines at a rally outside Vermont State House to protest new legislation that would ban them and introduce a series of other control measures. Hundreds of demonstrators turned out on Saturday to urge Republican Governor Phil Scott not to sign the gun restrictions bill a day after it was passed by the state legislature. The legislation would ban the 30-round magazines and rapid-fire devices known as bump stocks, in addition to raising the legal age. It would also expand background checks for private gun sales. Scott acknowledged that many Vermonters would be disappointed by

The Austin bomber is dead after blowing himself up as police FBI agents tired to arrest him in the early hours of Wednesday. The bomber, described as a 24-year-old white male, killed himself and injured an officer when he detonated a bomb inside his car as police approached. While officers say they are not looking for any more suspects they have warned residents to be on the lookout for more suspect packages, saying they do not known where the bomber has been for the last 24 hours. Two people were killed and six injured in a series of bombings that left Austin gripped in fear and stoked racial divisions in the city.

In an article by “The Editors of GQ,” the men’s magazine blasts the Holy Bible, declares it a book you don’t have to read, and suggests an alternative. In its April 19 article, “21 Books You Don’t Have to Read” (originally, "21 Books You Don´t Have to Read Before You Die"), Gentlemen’s Quarterly (GQ) trashes 20 books (“Huckleberry Finn” is counted twice, for some reason) it deems undeserving of their literary stature: “[N]ot all the Great Books have aged well. Some are racist and some are sexist, but most are just really, really boring. So we—and a group of un-boring

A small group of mostly high school students gathered in front of the White House on Friday as part of the National School Walkout, an anti-gun protest launched by a Connecticut teen following the shooting deaths of 17 people at a Florida high school in February. Roger Stone, a former adviser to President Trump, lost an invitation to speak at a Florida Republican group´s annual dinner due to negative remarks he made about former first lady Barbara Bush. The Okaloosa Republican Executive Committee "uninvited" Stone over comments he made to the right-wing conspiratorial website InfoWars about Bush, who died Tuesday. "I understand I´m going to take a lot of crap for speaking the truth about Barbara Bush," Stone said in an interview with InfoWars host Alex Jones. "She was a mean-spirited, vindictive drunk. She is ascending into hell right now. She´s not going to heaven. She

Imagine a combination of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and you´ve got Kamala Harris, the current seat-warming senator from California who, like Obama, is using the World´s Greatest Deliberative Body as a resume-puncher before swiftly moving on to bigger things: the 2020 Democrat presidential nomination. Even as a nobody senator, she´s been the subject of dozens, perhaps scores of speculative stories about her future, so now -- lest they build her up too quickly -- Politico and other Democrat cheerleaders are cautioning her to get her ducks in order before heading out on the hustings: "Kamala Harris has been called “the

It is with a heavy heart, and profound regret for the current state of media in America, that I have dragged my laptop to a Starbucks to pen this column. But I think it is important that we understand the degree of oppression we are up against. I regret to say: I have been silenced. I expressed an opinion, and people criticized that opinion. And since that day, my voice has never been heard again. I am entombed where none can hear my jangling bells, for doing nothing more than walking down the street, saying that women who get abortions

Norm Macdonald, in addition to being the best Weekend Update anchor ever, is also a keen student of human nature. Last year he summed up the results of the 2016 presidential election with this koan-like observation: "People hated Hillary Clinton so much that they voted for someone they hated more than Hillary Clinton in order to rub it in." I really think that sums up our current moment. A lot of people, myself included, underestimated just how tired of Hillary everyone was. After a quarter-century of listening to that awful old criminal´s angry, scolding voice, America finally said enough was

A funny thing happened on the way to this week’s column — Sen. Jon Tester did something I liked. On Wednesday, Sen. Tester took part in a Senate Commerce Committee hearing where he blasted someone who is perhaps the least popular man in America. No, not Jeff Zuckerberg (he is SO last week!). I’m talking about Adrian Abramovitch. Chances are, you’ve never heard of Abramovitch, but even so, I am confident that — along with me and Sen. Tester — you don’t like him! Indeed, when you find out that Abramovitch is accused of making nearly 100 million robocalls in

Residents in the San Francisco Bay Area are living along a fault that is a "ticking time bomb" that could generate an earthquake that could kill hundreds, according to a report released Wednesday. The U.S. Geological Survey said in a report called the "HayWired Scenario" that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake on Hayward Fault located under Oakland could kill as many as 800 people and injure up to 18,000. “This fault is what we sort of call a tectonic time bomb,” USGS earthquake geologist emeritus David Schwartz told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s just waiting to go off.” Researches said the Hayward Fault is dangerous because it runs through

The gunman who opened fire at a Nashville Waffle House with an AR-15 wearing nothing but a green jacket is still on the run and police have warned he is armed and dangerous. Travis Reinking, 29, shot dead four people and injured several more at the Waffle House in Antioch early Sunday morning before shedding his jacket and fleeing. Police said Reinking had his Illinois gun license revoked last year at the request of the FBI and four of his weapons were seized by authorities in Tazewell back in October. Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez said failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has not been consulted on the DNC’s civil lawsuit alleging collusion between Russia, WikiLeaks, and the Trump campaign. Perez said on NBC’s “Meet The Press” Sunday he hadn’t talked to Clinton ahead of the DNC filing the lawsuit. “I have not consulted Hillary Clinton to ask her permission to file a complaint. The buck stops with Tom Perez and we filed this complaint because our democracy is at risk,” Perez said. “This was an assault on our democracy and we have to protect that.” Perez said the DNC
