H&M stores stormed in Africa

JOHANNESBURG – Members of a South African opposition party stormed into some H&M stores across the country on Saturday to protest a promotional image of a black child wearing a sweatshirt with the words “Coolest monkey in the jungle.” Local media reports said the Economic Freedom Fighters urged shopping malls to evict the Swedish clothing retailer, which has apologized after an outcry in other countries. People have called the image racist and inappropriate. Television footage showed clothing in one of the South African stores scattered everywhere. H&M in South Africa says it had removed the sweatshirt from sale.

Comments:
Twisting innocent phrases and sayings into a racist meaning seems to be the latest cause célèbre.

This is too funny! So many people just waiting for the slightest thing to protest about, and they get smacked with something like this. Their heads are exploding and I love it.
I admit up front I would be branded a racist because I like potatoes, some tv shows and Border Collies. And I am breathing.

Beside that, what idiot thought selling a child shirt like that was a great idea in an African country? That´s worse than Elaine´s "Urban sombrero" for crying out loud.

Even though, I think the whole thing is hilarious.

It’s billions of dollars over budget and seven years behind schedule, and appears to have no plausible way of living up to its goal of getting riders across the state in three hours or less. Welcome to what’s arguably the nation’s largest infrastructure project and California’s biggest boondoggle. The highly hyped bullet train has been a challenge from the start. No one thought it would be technically, financially and politically easy, but the way the project has been mishandled has some Californians fed up and demanding answers. Just this week, the California High-Speed Rail Authority, the organization charged with overseeing

The warning signs for the toy industry started last year when “Cars 3” -- considered a surefire success -- proved lackluster for licensees like Mattel Inc. Now, toymakers’ big bets on movie tie-ins look downright bleak. Playthings based on the “Star Wars” saga -- the franchise that kicked off the whole phenomenon four decades ago -- were down in 2017 despite a new film, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” in December during the all-important holiday-shopping season. Call it “Star Wars” burnout, or better yet “movie fatigue,” said Gerrick Johnson, an analyst for BMO Capital Markets. Hollywood and toymakers have fixated

It´s no secret that Mitt Romney is, in all likelihood, going to run for a Senate seat in Utah. What´s less clear, however, is why the man who was the 2012 Republican presidential nominee and is now retired and occupying an elder-statesman role in a party torn into warring factions would want to serve as a junior senator. Once elected, Romney would find himself embroiled in day-to-day congressional fights and less free to voice his criticisms of the White House, while losing some of the deference he´s been shown by members of his own party.
