In the year since President Donald Trump has been in office, the economy has done something it has been unable to do since 2005: maintain 3 percent growth for three quarters in a row. While the final numbers aren´t in, economists Friday were ratcheting up growth to 3 percent or better for the fourth quarter, after December´s strong retail sales and revisions to prior months. "It could even grow at 3 percent for the year. The numbers are very strong," said Joseph LaVorgna, chief economist Americas at Natixis. He forecasts an above consensus growth pace of over 4 percent for

NEW YORK — Just days before the Super Bowl, John Mellencamp sank to his knees in support of the Black Lives Matter movement after performing a political ballad on the "Late Show With Stephen Colbert." The singer-songwriter sang the violin-and-piano dirge "Easy Target," with the lyrics "In the street and the gutters/ The cotton fields in this land/ Here´s an easy target." At the end, he knelt and lifted his right fist into the air. The song comes from Mellencamp´s album "Sad Clowns & Hillbillies," which came out late last year. Former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started the kneeling movement at the national anthem

Amazon has received patents for electronic systems that could enable warehouse monitoring through electronic pulses that guide employees by location. The patent filings, first reported this week by the news site Geekwire, come amid concerns over workplace conditions for the company, which has seen rapid growth in its warehouses or "fulfillment centers" key to its logistics. The publicly available patent documents show how wrist-worn devices could deliver ultrasonic pulses that could direct employees to the location of bins for packages being sought. "Ultrasonic tracking of a worker´s hands may be used to monitor performance

Last month it seemed that Democrats might ride a giant tsunami to control of the House and Senate. Now, some are wondering whether there’s a Democratic wave at all. The Democratic advantage on the generic congressional ballot, which asks people whether they’ll vote for Democrats or Republicans for Congress, has dwindled since the heart of the tax debate in December. Then, nearly all surveys put Republicans behind by double digits. Now, poll averages put the Democratic lead at only around six or seven percentage points. The question isn’t really whether Republican standing has improved recently. It has. The question is

House Republicans released a controversial memo critical of the FBI’s investigation into possible meddling in the 2016 election – following approval on Friday from President Donald Trump. Overseen by Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, chair of the House Intelligence Committee, the four-page memo argues that the FBI relied too heavily on claims from an unsubstantiated dossier written by former British spy Christopher Steele when getting a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant on Trump advisor Carter Page. As a political document, the GOP memo will help serve as a useful talking point in debate over the various

Employees at Whole Foods Market say the company’s new policies have thrown their workday into chaos, with one supervisor saying it’s not uncommon to see stressed-out employees crying on the job. Workers for the Austin-based supermarket chain tell Business Insider that the store’s new “order-to-shelf” inventory system has been taking a toll on the staff since the guidelines were implemented last year. "I wake up in the middle of the night from nightmares about maps and inventory,” said one Whole Foods employee who spoke with Business Insider. “The stress has created such a tense working environment.

It’s a scenario all gamers can relate to. You’re deep into a game, maybe rescuing Princess Peach in “Super Mario Bros.” or stopping your family from drowning in “The Sims.” But then you have to stop gaming and go to work. Well, one Democratic congresswoman has come up with a solution -- just keep gaming. Rep. Brenda Lawrence, D-Mich., was caught doing exactly that on her phone during President Trump’s State of the Union on Tuesday. A photo, from Getty Images, appears to show Lawrence playing the addictive match-three game “Candy Crush Saga.” Fox News reached out to King, the

Amazon has trimmed its list of potential cities for its second headquarters down to twenty. But one group of gay activists is pressuring the company to avoid some of the locations that made the cut. The tech behemoth, currently headquartered in Seattle, launched a public search for the site of its second headquarters, or HQ2, last year. It said it would spend $50 billion on constructing the new headquarters and is expecting to hire a workforce of 50,000 people. When the company requested proposals, more than 238 cities from across North America responded. Last month when Amazon announced the finalists,

A month ago Republicans passed what was, according to some measures, the most unpopular bill in decades: their tax plan. Today, it’s looking more and more like that was a risk well worth taking. A day after President Trump played up the tax cuts in his State of the Union address, a Monmouth poll showed a huge swing in favor of the bill. While just 26 percent of Americans approved of the package in mid-December, as lawmakers were putting the final touches on it, support in the latest poll rose to 44 percent. For a bill that sometimes polled with

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) are proving central to efforts to impeach President Trump. Black lawmakers say that’s the result of Trump repeatedly stirring racial controversies, from personally attacking two members of the caucus to casting equal blame on white supremacists and counterprotesters for fatal violence in Charlottesville, Va., last summer. (Snip) The articles of impeachment put forth by Green don’t allege Trump has committed a crime; instead, they assert that Trump has “brought the high office of president of the United States in contempt, ridicule, disgrace and disrepute” and “has sown discord among the people of the United

Washington - Top White House aides are worried FBI Director Christopher Wray could quit if the highly controversial Republican memo alleging the FBI abused its surveillance tools is released, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation tell CNN. Wray has made clear he is frustrated that President Donald Trump picked him to lead the FBI after he fired FBI Director James Comey in May, yet his advice on the Nunes memo is being disregarded and cast as part of the purported partisan leadership of the FBI, according to a senior law enforcement official.
