Flu patients leave Texas hospitals strapped
Texas Tribune [Austin, TX], by Sydney Greene

Big-city hospitals in Texas have been overwhelmed this week by an influx of flu patients, and state health officials say influenza activity is widespread across the state. At Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, waiting rooms turned into exam areas as a medical tent was built in order to deal with the surge of patients. A Houston doctor said local hospital beds were at capacity, telling flu sufferers they might be better off staying at home. Austin´s emergency rooms have also seen an influx of flu patients. (Snip) On Monday alone, Parkland´s emergency department had seen 930 patients — double what the hospital

We have had 28 deaths reported as of yesterday in the DFW area here. It´s like suddenly hearing of West Nile Virus deaths suddenly in my "neighborhood" and warnings about breeding grounds for these mosquitoes.

Doesn´t the TX Tribune have proof readers? Might be early but I pictured patients bound by leather or spanked as they leave the faciity.

Our physician´s office phoned to cancel my spouse´s appointment for a physical because the flu took out the staff and the doctors. It´s bad out there. We will not be going to Church for at least the next two Sundays here on the west coast of lower FL.

This flu is bad. The elderly and ´immune compromised´ need to be very careful.
This flu was the sickest my wife has been in a long, long time. Be careful.

An illegal immigrant facing murder charges for the killing of two law enforcement officers in Northern California went off the rails during his most recent court hearing and said, with a grin on his face, “I wish I had killed more,” Fox News reported. This is what the sanctuary-loving left wants to shelter from the deportation storm? Luis Enrique Monroy Bracamontes, 37, is a Mexican citizen who stands accused of killing two officers, Sacramento Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Davis Jr., in 2014 — at a time when he was in America illegally. Basketball Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman can’t seem to rid himself of the “bad boy” image. Rodman was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Saturday in Newport Beach, California, after police say he was “driving like a maniac and blaring music,” TMZ reports. The bigger problem for the former Chicago Bulls star, though, is that he is on probation for a July of 2016 hit-and-run incident in which he was driving the wrong way. This latest arrest could revoke Rodman’s three-year probation and force him to serve prison time, TMZ reports. Rodman was reportedly cooperative with police.

McConnell says Trump’s approval

The Senate won’t vote on an immigration deal unless it has President Trump’s support, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday, effectively dooming the Gang of Six bill even before a bipartisan group of lawmakers officially introduced it. Mr. McConnell said they are waiting to see exactly what Mr. Trump will sign, but the president has said the bill written by Sens. Lindsey Graham and Richard Durbin was rejected by the White House last week, so it’s not the basis for negotiations. “I’m looking for something that President Trump supports and he has not indicated what measure he is willing to sign,” Mr. McConnell told

The Bible tells Christians to beware, that to follow Jesus paves the way for a life of challenge, mocking and persecution — that specifically, as Matthew 10:22 states, “you will be hated by all for [His] name’s sake.” (Snip) Fully 215 million Christians are right now facing “high levels of persecution” in 60 different countries, with “Islamic oppression” the driving factor in eight of the top ten, the nonprofit found, in its latest World Watch List 2018. Americans can travel to North Korea, if they wish -- but it may just be a death wish, the U.S. State Department cautioned. The State Department last week issued a stark warning to people setting out for the Hermit Kingdom, cautioning that anyone heading to the dangerous dictatorship should prepare for the possibility of not returning. “The U.S. government is unable to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in North Korea as it does not have diplomatic or consular relations with North Korea,” the State Department published Wednesday on its website. Those who wish to travel to North Korea must be approved for a

The “Gang of Six” amnesty for millions of illegal aliens shielded from deportation by the President Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program should be rolled “straight into the trash can,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) says. On Wednesday, a group of six pro-amnesty Senators will roll out their expansive immigration amnesty plan that would not only give a pathway to U.S. citizenship beginning with 3.5 million DACA and DACA-eligible illegal aliens but also give amnesty to the parents of amnesty beneficiaries. Tokyo - Japanese public broadcaster NHK says its erroneous alert of a North Korean missile fired at Japan was sent by a staff member who meant to file a different news flash. NHK denied any mechanical flaw and said Wednesday it is studying preventive measures. NHK retracted the mistake within minutes and apologized on air and on other formats. NHK isn't sure how many of its 300,000 social media followers saw the alert or notification and it's unknown if anyone followed the

Participants in a 20-nation summit on the North Korean nuclear threat have called for continued sanctions on the country, in an effort to pressure the regime to give up its rapidly advancing nuclear programme. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who participated in the one-day meeting in Vancouver, Canada, said the event sent a simple message: "We will not accept a nuclear-armed North Korea." Washington - The Trump administration said Tuesday that it will rush to the U.S. Supreme Court within a few days by skipping over a federal appeals court, hoping for quick action in the legal battle over shutting down the DACA program. "It´s an extremely unusual request, one that is granted once in a blue moon," said Tom Goldstein, publisher of the SCOTUSBlog website. "It´s a signal by the Trump administration that they take this issue incredibly seriously and think the justices should, too." A federal judge ruled Jan. 9 that the government could not end the program on March 6, as President Donald Trump proposed to do.

WASHINGTON- President Donald Trump relentlessly congratulates himself for the healthy state of the U.S. economy, with its steady growth, low unemployment, busier factories and confident consumers. But in the year since Trump´s inauguration, most analysts tend to agree on this: The economy remains essentially the same sturdy one he inherited from Barack Obama.Growth has picked up, but it´s not yet clear if it can sustain a faster expansion. Hiring and wage growth actually slowed slightly from Obama´s last year in office. Consumers and businesses are much more optimistic, but their spending has yet to move meaningfully higher. Republicans are slamming Democratic Sen. Booker´s hostile tone prompted Republican National Committee Rapid Response Director Michael Ahrens to invoke the millennial term for males talking down to women.

A crazed, bug-eyed Cory Booker, junior senator from New Jersey, blasted Department of Homeland Security secretary Kristjen Nielsen during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing yesterday on immigration. Booker became so unhinged in his staged outrage that he repeatedly threatened Nielsen, with clenched fists pointed in her direction. Equal to Booker´s overt violation of Nielsen´s right to be treated without hostility and intimidation was the deranged content of his tirade. Nielsen had stated earlier she did not hear the president say the "s-hole" word at last week´s White House meeting on DACA. Booker went ballistic and accused Nielsen of covering up

According to the 25-year-old Palomo, whose public appearance looks as if Dracula spent a weekend at Liberace´s house, gender fluidity is a way of life he hopes that future men can share. In an interview with AFP, Palomo likened his fashion revolution to the ones ushered by Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent in the 20th century. Researchers say they are fueling global warming with consumers overcooking food to blame. Microwaves account for the largest percentage of sales of all types of oven in the EU, with numbers set to reach 135 million by 2020.
