A Wall St. Executive’s Downfall Seemed
Sudden. It Was Years in the Making.

Late last year, Morgan Stanley got a tip: Reporters were asking about allegations that a high-profile executive, the former congressman Harold E. Ford Jr., had harassed a female journalist. Morgan Stanley conducted a quick investigation, interviewing the accuser and Mr. Ford, who denied the allegations. According to Morgan Stanley officials briefed on the internal process, the Wall Street bank concluded that it was a he-said, she-said situation and didn’t find proof of harassment. Then Morgan Stanley fired Mr. Ford. Why? It depends on whom you ask. The Morgan Stanley officials briefed on the process say that amid a national outcry over sexual harassment, the

Anyone else remember when Harold Ford was supposed to be the Democrats´ bright future leading to the White House?

I remember being really surprised when Ford´s firing was made public. Now we know the rest of the story. Morgan Stanley was trying to get rid of him for business reasons, and did it by using a pretty shaky harassment claim which did in fact destroy his reputation. Which isn´t fair.

I always liked Ford. He is an affable character who showed the ability to work across the aisle.
But he drifted left, going back to the democratic plantation.

I won´t vouch for Ford´s work habits, political pedigree or anything else. The allegation of sexual misconduct against him reflects the madness sweeping society. A one-time misunderstanding, belied by this "reporter"´s fawning email to him, now results in the destruction of a man´s reputation and the humiliation of his children. I would call it McCarthyism, but that would be a slander of Joe McCarthy, who actually had evidence on his targets.

My fellow right-wingers who express schadenfreude when a liberal celebrity gets brought down by this stuff are fooling themselves. This is a destructive anti-male jihad. It will consume them too. Watch out

The Ford family is to politics in Memphis TN what the Daley family is/was in Chicago. Harold seemed more normal, but it´s hard to tell if it was real or an act.

I don´t see where his behavior was especially egregious. As others have said, his performance probably lagged behind his salary requirements, so they used this old complaint to oust him.

Trump wouldn´t give the media a

Washington Examiner, by Eddie Scarry    Original Article

You can acknowledge that President Trump gave an embarrassingly weak performance at the press conference following his face-to-face meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, while rejecting the media’s weird preoccupation that Trump didn’t publicly insult Putin to his face. In 2018, every day goes down as a bad day if Trump didn’t use it to condemn Russia for interfering with the 2016 election. If you didn’t watch the conference live on Monday and instead only saw the media’s coverage of it, you’re forgiven for maybe falling under the impression that Trump disowned the U.S. intelligence community and pledged allegiance to Putin.

Last Sunday, a 59-year-old woman on the West Side of Chicago was killed by a would-be carjacker. The felon walked up to the driver’s side of the car, which was being driven by a 71-year-old man, and pulled his gun. The senior citizen refused to surrender the vehicle and kept driving. The would-be carjacker opened fire at the car, striking the woman in the head and killing her. The night before, on the South Side, a Chicago officer killed a 37-year-old man whom the officer’s patrol partners had observed behaving in a manner suggesting that he was carrying a gun. The

President Donald Trump chose to have the indictments of 12 Russian hackers announced before his Helsinki summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to a Tuesday Bloomberg report. Trump wanted the indictments announced ahead of the Monday summit to give him leverage over Putin, a source familiar with the matter told Bloomberg on Tuesday. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein gave Trump the option of having the indictments released before or after Helsinki, according to the report. Rosenstein cited national security concerns to allow him to share details of grand jury proceedings with Trump. Rosenstein announced Friday that a grand jury had indicted 12

It´s not that her socialism or her ignorance of world affairs bothers them, the way it does us. It´s that she´s showing bad machine politics sense, the one thing that keeps Democrats going in the absence of being able to admit they actually are all a bunch
