The GOP Must Win a Better Deal on DACA
National Review Online, by Editors

Original Article

At a partially televised bipartisan meeting about immigration on Tuesday, President Trump demonstrated that he’s not, despite the fevered fantasies of the Left, senile; unfortunately, he also demonstrated that he’s not necessarily reliable on immigration policy. Trump was optimistic that an agreement to codify DACA, President Obama’s unlawful de facto amnesty for a segment of so-called Dreamers, would eventually be struck. We, too, think there is a deal to be had in theory, but it must be carefully crafted. On Tuesday, Trump said he would sign anything Congress sent him. The White House, thankfully, quickly walked this back, and Trump

1st, identify the ones waving Mexican flags at all these rallies. Then test all these dreamers that are now adults, who were brought here as children, that still can´t read or write English. #3, identify all those that are sucking up benefits! Those 3 groups are the first ones that should go back!

Media: President Trump reneged on his promise to eradicate DACA!

Truth: President Trump sent the "insane hussein mess" to Congress and told them to fix it and gave them a deadline to which they aren´t close.

Do you see it?: Republicans must accept the premise that DACA is something that "must" be taken care of by letting the "dreamers" stay. The GOP is accepting the Democrats´ premise and building on it. Again. They do it with just about every cockamamie scheme the Democrats come up with.

Instead of finding a way to fix what Democrats claim are problems, how about just saying no, that´s not on my agenda?

After laying out what must be included in any bill sent to him, funding for the wall, an end to the lottery, no chain migration, Trump then stated he would sign anything sent to him.

Why DACA at all? It will not bring any benefit to the Republicans, as DACA participants and supporters are all Leftists. It´s an Obama program pushed through without congressional approval, and therefore should be ended. They need to get in line with those attempting to immigrate legally.

Rejoin the TPP

President Trump, apparently, is open to rejoining the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Yes, that TPP, the same multilateral trade deal that Trump savaged during the 2016 presidential campaign and withdrew the United States from in the early days of his administration. Last week, during a meeting with farm-state lawmakers, the president said his administration would revisit the deal and instructed advisers to look into the matter. Of course, it’s hard to know whether to take the overture seriously. Tuesday night, Trump threw cold water on the idea via Twitter, expressing a preference for bilateral trade deals. Regardless, rejoining the TPP is a

It’s a pretty safe bet that, with the possible exception of former First Lady Barbara Bush, the two private citizens who most dominated the legacy news media this week were Southwest pilot Tammie Jo Shults and former FBI director James Comey. Both have occupied positions of trust for decades, but it’s pretty clear that only one is actually trustworthy. Read the following and try to decide which of the two possesses genuine character: On Tuesday Captain Shults contacted air traffic control shortly after 11AM and, after identifying her Boeing 737 as Southwest 1380 and noting that it was carrying “149

In a victory for the longstanding Wall Street "Charging Bull" statute, New York City Hall announced the "Fearless Girl" statue will soon move to a new location three blocks away. "Fearless Girl" was commissioned by the investment firm State Street Global Advisors to advertise an index fund. In March 2017, it was placed in front of the iconic bull statute, a piece of guerrilla art celebrating American entrepreneurship created by Italian immigrant and Free Beacon Man of the Year Arturo Di Modica. The statute immediately went viral as a feminist icon, with the bull being recast as a symbol of the patriarchy.

Twenty-five years ago today, FBI tanks smashed into the ramshackle home of the Branch Davidians outside Waco, Texas. After the FBI collapsed much of the building atop the residents, a fire erupted and 76 corpses were dug out of the rubble. Unfortunately, the American political system and media have never faced the lessons from that tragic 1993 day. Fifty-one days before the FBI final assault, scores of federal Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agents launched an attack on the Davidians’ home spurred by allegations that they had converted semi-automatic rifles to full-automatic capacity. The ATF’s lead investigator had previously rejected an offer

In the span of 24 hours, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley has done what none of her colleagues in President Donald Trump’s Cabinet have before: successfully telegraphed to her boss that she will not quietly suffer his public humiliations. Haley was initially blamed by White House aides for creating confusion by speaking on national television about the administration’s plans to roll out new sanctions against Russia that the president ultimately decided to defer. But within hours of White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow’s statement Tuesday that Haley had fallen prey to “momentary confusion” and gotten

Barbara Pierce Bush was the last of her kind. I don’t just mean the last of the moderate Republicans, or the last of the WASP aristocrats, or the last of the flinty Yankees, or even the last in a sense of the frontier wives who left the comforts of the American East to follow a husband seeking his fortune in the wilder West. She was indeed all these things. In surveying her life after her passing at the age of 92, I’m struck by the fact that she was probably the last truly prominent American woman to grow to maturity at

James Comey´s extended book tour isn´t only rattling President Trump. It´s also inducing a bit of post-traumatic stress disorder among Democrats, many of whom consider the fired FBI director the villain of the 2016 election. Comey´s near-omnipresence on the air and online to promote the release of “A Higher Loyalty” complicates, if not undermines, Democrats’ effort to capitalize on the feud between the president and the nation´s former top law enforcement official. On one hand, they are still seething over Comey´s decision to issue a scathing indictment of Hillary Clinton´s judgment during a July 2016 press conference to announce the FBI would

Crenshanda Williams, 44, was found guilty of interference with emergency telephone calls Wednesday after "systematically" hanging up the phone on residents of Harris County, KTRK reported. She was sentenced to 10 days in jail and 18 months probation. Williams reportedly had an unusual number of "short calls," which were no longer than 20 seconds. Prosecutors, according to the Houston Chronicle, determined she hung up on "thousands" of calls. In one instance, emergency caller Jim

Sure, San Francisco has great facets worthy of postcards and travel books, but it also has a worsening underbelly that D’Alessandro says he can no longer gloss over. An interesting catch by anti-Trump GOP strategist Liz Mair, who says that this latest polling nugget explains why Hillary Clinton´s obnoxious whining about ´sexism´ ought to be directed at her own party, not the GOP. The twice-failed presidential candidate recently complained that losing male politicians are never told to shut up and go away (which isn´t true at all), so why should she do so? I´d wager that Republicans would wholeheartedly agree in this case; I´ve argued that the RNC should consider devoting resources to help ensure that Mrs. Clinton´s voice remains as loud and prevalent as ever before in

Advocates in the field argue that the Earth needs to be treated with love. In addition to reducing harmful environmental practices, ecosexuals believe that humans should physically make love to the Earth.
