Fiat Chrysler announced Thursday that it will up its investment in the United States and pay some of its employees special bonuses after the recent tax code overhaul. CEO Sergio Marchionne said in a statement that these announcements reflect the company´s ongoing commitment to manufacturing in the U.S. He also cited the recently signed tax bill as an opportunity to share the savings with Fiat Chrysler employees. The automaker said it will invest more than $1 billion in a Michigan plant and relocate production of its Ram Heavy Duty truck in 2020. That model is currently being produced in Saltillo,

That great economist Nancy Pelosi says that this bonus is just crumbs, She also say that Chrysler will use the tax savings to buy back stock and will not invest it in their business so this story must be wrong.

It was telling that as Tax Day arrived this week, the media’s focus was riveted not on the massive tax overhaul that President Trump recently signed into law, but on James Comey, Stormy Daniels, and Michael Cohen. In their own ways, these three players in the Trump drama symbolize the ethical storms and moral challenges constantly buffeting the president. Those tempests have imposed an unmistakable political cost on Trump—whose approval rating remains far below what might be expected in an economy this strong—and they represent an inescapable threat to Republicans in the November midterm elections. What’s ironic is that these

Southern Poverty Law Center Quietly

The Southern Poverty Law Center has removed the “Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists” from their website after attorneys for Maajid Nawaz, a practicing Muslim and prominent Islamic reformer, threatened legal action over his inclusion on the list. The report, which had been active on the SPLC’s website since it was published in December 2016, was intended to serve as a resource for journalists to identify promoters of hateful propaganda; but it included a number of liberal reformers such as Nawaz, a former Islamic extremist who has since dedicated his life to combating the hateful ideology. “A shocking number of these

Mike Pompeo wants to be secretary of state. But the deck is stacked against him. One by one, Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations committee have announced their opposition to his nomination. This includes the two who voted to confirm him as CIA director, Virginia senator Tim Kaine and New Hampshire senator Jeanne Shaheen. All eyes are on the remaining 13 Democratic senators who helped confirm Pompeo in January 2017. And several have already come out in opposition, including California senator Dianne Feinstein, who is up for re-election and facing a progressive challenger. “The Secretary of State is a very different role

The Republican chairmen of three powerful House committees suggested Thursday that the numerous memos written by former FBI Director James Comey detailing his conversations with President Donald Trump "would be Defense Exhibit A" if Trump were charged with obstruction of justice. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Robert Goodlatte, R-Va., House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said in a joint statement: “We have long argued former Director Comey’s self-styled memos should be in the public domain, subject to any classification redactions. When Mick Mulvaney, President Trump’s acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, appeared before Congress last week, he managed to illustrate the absurdity of the agency that he heads. In questioning him, several Democrats disputed that Mulvaney even is the director, claiming that an Obama-era appointee retains authority—and they may actually have a point. This squabbling may seem like government-incompetence-as-usual, but in fact, the CFPB is working as intended—shielding elected officials from the opposition of lobbyists who don’t want sensible financial rules and from the wrath of consumers who, a decade after the financial crisis, remain ill-served by an

I recently accepted an invitation from the 2-108th Cavalry Squadron of the Louisiana National Guard to join them on an extended field training exercise at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. The 2-108th and other units of the National Guard are ramping up their training in anticipation of more overseas deployments in the coming years. No longer is the Guard just a strategic reserve force capable only of handling small domestic and humanitarian crises; they are now an integral part of the U.S. Army’s total combat force. Anti-Christian prejudice and coastal elitism are common comorbidities associated with this debilitating progressive condition. Ground zero for the latest outbreak? That speculative frontier advanced even further over the weekend, after the New Yorker’s Adam Davidson declared that the Trump presidency has now entered its “end stages,” following a raid on the office and hotel room of Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen. What these predictions rather conspicuously lack is any attempt to explain precisely the series of events that would be Trump’s formal undoing. The past 12 hours brought two very big revelations involving former FBI director James B. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recently told the White House he might have to leave his job if President Trump fired his deputy, Rod J. Rosenstein, who oversees the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, according to people familiar with the exchange. Sessions made his position known in a phone call to White House counsel Donald McGahn last weekend, as Trump’s fury at Rosenstein peaked after the deputy attorney general approved the FBI’s raid April 9 on the president’s personal attorney Michael Cohen. Sessions’s message to the White House, which has not previously been reported, underscores the political firestorm
