The Sheila Jackson Lee first
class airfare heist story
isn’t quite over yet

Hot Air, by Jazz Shaw

Original Article

Posted By:ketchuplover, 1/8/2018 8:40:58 PM

During the Christmas break last month we looked at the rather odd story of an air traveler who was bumped from her first class seat on a United Flight from Texas to Washington by Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. (Snip) After a non-apology from the airline and an offer of a voucher in exchange for her troubles, Simon was still not satisfied with the treatment she had received. And now, according to her Twitter feed, she’s asked the Congressional Ethics Committee to look into the matter.

Comments:
It will never make it that far. Congress covers its own. But there are good ethical questions raised in this article such as Did SJL book a coach seat and then pay for the upgrade or was the upgrade a gift (that should be disclosed) from United?

The airlines know that is to their benefit to keep ornery Congress critters quite, so almost automatically they give them a first class seat, even if they only paid for a coach seat. This so-called courtesy upgrade only went haywire for the airline because the person bumped made a stink, and is still doing so. All that does not phase Sheila Jackson Lee as she has already put down the compliant the person who was bumped to routine "racism" and that will cover her especially with the wimpy Republicans running the Congress.

I think the policy should be, you get on board, you fly. Dragging people off by the hair is not a very becoming policy.

"U.S. taxpayers paid for 557 first class overseas tickets which cost a minimum of $10,000 each for members and even their staff. All such overseas business travel is approved by the State Department and comes out of their budget, so there’s little incentive for the members to curb those costs." - 2016

Wow! Do you think that even 1% of the voters in this country have a clue as to ´the ride´ that these clowns and eunuchs are taking the American tax payer on? I suspect this is Jackson Lee and others way of waving the middle finger at us, as they laugh to each other.

Drain the swamp is right. And we are 20 trillion dollars in debt. What a mess our great president is facing. All these greedy politicians with their hands in our pockets. This also reminds me of the American press who rode on the SOS plane and regularly had parties on their way to destinations around the world. Their news organizations only had to pay a minimal amount for what was in fact a first class flight experience and all the booze they could drink. And WTP paid for the considerable excess. The press absolutely howled when Rex Tillerson chose a much smaller plane for his travels and invited only a single representative of the press.

Consider how this story would play out if it were a black Conservative, either a man or a woman?

Beijing — A group of influential Catholics published an open letter Monday to express their shock and disappointment about a report that the Vatican could soon reach a deal with the Chinese government, warning that it could create a schism in the church in China. Over the weekend, a United Airlines passenger named Dexter was getting ready to board a flight from Newark to Los Angeles. He had his ticket ready. He was, incidentally, looking pretty great. But Dexter was not allowed to board the plane. Dexter, you see, is a peacock. According to Daniella Silva of NBC News, the peacock, which is reportedly an emotional support animal, and his human were turned away from their flight at the Newark Liberty International Airport on Sunday. United Airlines told Silva in a statement that the bird “did not meet guidelines for a number of reasons, including its weight and size.”
