Manafort sues DOJ, Mueller
over Russia probe authority

CNN, by Evan Perez

Original Article

Paul Manafort, the former Trump campaign chairman indicted on money laundering and other charges, filed a lawsuit challenging the broad authority of special counsel Robert Mueller and alleging the Justice Department violated the law in appointing Mueller. The suit brought Wednesday in US District Court in Washington where Manafort and another former Trump campaign aide are charged, challenges Mueller´s decision to charge Manafort with alleged crimes that they say have nothing to do with the 2016 campaign, but rather relate to lucrative lobbying work Manafort and his deputy did for a former Russia-friendly government in Ukraine. That work ended in 2014,

A DOJ spokesman says the suit is frivolous. So let the District Court dismiss it. That will get it to the Supreme Court more quickly.

Fabulous! This will shake out Rosenschwein, Mueller, and Comey.
Troubled about Sessions. Why did he write into law again, following Holder, that Police, FBI, etc. can enter your home without a search warrant?
The way the FBI entered Manafort´s home in the middle of the night and bodily searched his wife, who was in bed, is something the Gestapo would do!

It looks like Mueller went a Millionaire too far.Manafort has the resources to cahllage Mueller and his witch hunt. And regardless how much the DOJ says its a frivolous suit (interesting, usually goobernment agencies say they don´t comment on ongoing suits. Why is this different?), Mueller and his staff will have to devote resources to defend themselves. And a judge just might aske for Mueller and his team to explain things. Like FISA data used to spy on Manafort and the fake dossier used to justify it. It could prve Mueller and his team are the real criminals. They will have to answer subpoenas and it will not be a toothless Congressional subpoena. I bet Mueller and his dmeigodd stafff never saw this coming.

Harvey Weinstein went from walking the red carpet at premieres to perp walking into a police station. And it took only 30 years of getting away with allegations of rape, sexual assault and very indecent exposure for horrible Harvey, the horror of Hollywood, to be brought to his knees. Must be karmic payback after a lifetime, his accusers claim, of forcing THEM to their knees and shoving his penis into their mouths. Sorry if you think that sounds too rough for a family newspaper, but sexual assault deserves rough language, just as Weinstein deserves a rough sentence. No language is

To put the roller-coaster presidency of Donald Trump in perspective, it helps on occasion to imagine that Hillary Clinton won the election. My experience is that the exercise leads to greater appreciation of the president we have, warts and all. Start with Clinton herself. She has spent the last 18 months in a perpetual snit. “No, I’m not over it,” she confessed while turning Yale’s commencement into a self-pity party. Anyone who has dealt with her knows the “I’m a victim” schtick didn’t start with November of 2016, and would not have ended if she won. She’s been a blamer

What happens when the national anthem isn´t played before a ballgame? In Fresno, Calif., first the crowd boos, then it takes it upon themselves to sing it anyway -- a cappella. In a show of patriotism before Memorial Day, the crowd at a high school softball championship game at Fresno State´s Margie Wright Diamond on Friday night launched into their own rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" after it was announced that the song wouldn´t be played because it had already been played before an earlier game. “Honestly, I was shocked (when) the announcer stated, ‘There will be no anthem, let’s just play

It must be written somewhere that in the age of Trump, Democrats and the national media are required to stake out thoroughly stupid positions in the culture wars. Abstaining isn’t an option. The New York Times ran three pieces this week opposing the NFL’s new policy requiring players to stand for the national anthem during games, or remain in the locker room if they won’t. The Times’ liberal columnist David Leonhardt called the rule “unpatriotic” because it “reject[s] a basic American value.” (Making a statement about your special interest during a short patriotic song, you see, is exactly what the Founding Fathers had in mind.)

Harvey Weinstein is out on bail. Incredible. The allowances made at Friday morning’s arraignment — Weinstein turning himself in looking clean and bookish, rather than be taken into custody in a 4 a.m. bust — may set the tone for the entire trial. No detail is too small, as the press, prosecutors and Weinstein himself, the ultimate showman, knows. It’s why police sources made sure to point out that he needed extended handcuffs because he was too fat for regular ones. It’s why Weinstein toted two books into the police precinct as if leisurely overseeing some busywork. It’s why one of those

Democrats and their media allies are again shouting “constitutional crisis,” this time claiming President Trump has waded too far into the Russia investigation. The howls are a diversion from the actual crisis: the Justice Department’s unprecedented contempt for duly elected representatives, and the lasting harm it is doing to law enforcement and to the department’s relationship with Congress. The conceit of those claiming Mr. Trump has crossed some line in ordering the Justice Department to comply with oversight is that “investigators” are beyond question. We are meant to take them at their word that they did everything

British spies sent to CIA director John Brennan in late 2015 alleged intelligence on contacts between Trumpworld and the Russians, according to the Guardian. This intelligence was passed to the US as part of a routine exchange of information, they added. Notice it doesn’t say the

To understand the liberal worldview, the contrived campaign to make Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg into some kind of a folk hero is a useful object of study. She has been the subject of a variety of hagiographical portraiture, ranging from fawning magazine profiles and sycophantic treatment in film to illustrated children’s books. She inspires her followers to get her image tattooed onto their bodies, to mimic her fitness routines, to feel as she felt and to weep as she wept. This behavior lends itself to quite a few descriptors, but you cannot call it a cult. The cult leader is nigh infallible, but that is not Ginsburg’s role.

Until 1968, Walter Cronkite believed what his government told him about the Vietnam War. He was an old-school journalist, a patriot, a man who came of age covering World War II as a wire-service reporter and then taking over as the anchor of “The CBS Evening News” at the height of the Cold War. Like most journalists of his generation, he embraced the fight against communism and understood why the United States had intervened in the war raging in Vietnam. I will venture a prediction: by the end of President Trump’s first term, it will be obvious that Hillary Clinton’s health would not have permitted her to serve effectively as president, had she won the 2016 election. Hillary falls down and faints. She needs help going up and down stairs. There are persistent rumors that she drinks too much. During the campaign, there were many days when Hillary was AWOL. Her schedule was weirdly light for someone running for the presidency. Many have commented on the fact that Hillary never went to Wisconsin, but the more basic fact is that there were lots of days when she didn’t go anywhere.
