Trump’s Tweets Are Ruining Him,
But Do His Fans Care?

Commentary, by Noah Rothman

Phase two of the remaking of Trump. An internal conflict over the trajectory of the GOP’s evolution in the Trump era quietly reached a turning point in late 2017 that has become clear only in hindsight. The “originals”–who joined Trump’s campaign when no other Republican political professionals would–have been purged or sidelined. The president has opted to outsource his legislative priorities to conventional Republicans in Congress, and he has delegated the conduct of foreign affairs to responsible administration officials. The contemptible alt-right and their “America First” allies are beside themselves even as erstwhile Trump skeptics in the GOP are suddenly

Comments:
My 401K is higher than ever. My confidence in President Trump sinks with every inane tweet. As Rothman points out, when written in a focused and coherent style tweets can be useful communication tools. When used to vent one´s spleen, they´re Sad! Sad!
If the Tweeter in Chief can´t control himself, he won´t make it through his term. It´s a sad state of affairs when Kim Jong-Un suddenly sounds more temperate and statemanlike than Donald Trump.

Noah Rothman is a kindred spirit of Bret Stephens and the poster. They are more concerned with dignity than results. I´ll take results every time. Sorry poster, but you will be very happy with the increase in you 401K when you retire. The money will go further than dignity. Dignity isn´t going to put food on the table. Trump is the adult in the room and he is letting the little fat Korean know who the boss is.

The difference between a businessman and a politician is that the businessman gets the job done on time and on budget, and isn´t overly concerned with good manners. The politician talks a lot, promises a lot, but gets nothing done except gather more money and power. But the politician does it oh so eloquently. I´ll take the businessman every time over a lying politician, or a political pundit for that matter.

I´m sure the democrats and their pet poodles in the media would like it a lot if President Trump would just be quiet and let them handle the news....

Make no mistake, they cannot abide their lack of having a ´leash´ on him. They are forced to play second fiddle to Pres. Trump. HE OWNS THEM, and THAT is what galls Them.

I just spoke with a co-worker who left Iran ~30 years ago, but has been talking with friends there this past weekend. He said that Trump´s tweets have been a wonderful source of support to the rebels. They want the world to know and care!

We are finally seeing real action on so many formerly implacable situations...who am I to judge the methods of the man finally making things happen?

These pundits might prefer the calm, cool mien of McCain or Romney, but the truth is they are losers. And though Bush won, he got little done.

As long as Trump keeps moving in the right direction, I´ll have his back. What else can a patriot do?

Noah Rothman. That name sounds rather New Yorkish- Like from down in the diamond district.

I once heard of two guys who got into a buggy whip fight. A buggy whip has a long handle and a short lash (the flexible end). It is made mostly to just make a "pop" behind the horse´s head and never to actually strike the animal. It is a very light instrument, so even a woman´s slight wrist can handle it. But, if you have ever been hit by one, you will regret it. It can cut the skin and the sting of it is devastatingly painful (I know from messing with one as a kid).

So, back to the buggy whip fight; The combatants were young, and tough. They had been around. One guy was highly skilled with his whip and caught the other guy several times, on hands and face. The other guy, got enough of the stings, flipped his whip around and clubbed the living scat out of the other guy with the handle, knocking him silly until he quit. It wasn´t about the the whip that counted - it was how the fighter used it.

Now, on Trump, these "Tweets" are like that buggy whip- Trump is using his like a club while others still don´t get why they are losing the Twitter fight against him- they are supposedly so skilled at Twitter fighting! He is not being ruined by his Tweets- The other guys are. Trump is knocking the living 541T out of them. And they hate it. We, on the other hand, love President Trump for it.

Whatever things may have once been like, tweets are here to stay, and, like the buggy Whip story above, Trump uses them effectively.

I´m very concerned (and frightened) about North Korea (thanks to Bill Clinton´s terrible judgement) AND I wholly approve of and appreciate President Trump´s tweet on the subject, “Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”. Mr. Trump correctly points out the horrific state of the North Korean people under their barbaric leader who devotes what little resources his country has to nuclear weapons, enjoys a regal lifestyle and enriches himself, while even those North Koreans employed by his government are starving to death, something that should be brought to the fore again and again. Thank you President Trump. You are a mensch.

Contemptible Noah Rothman has to pretend the status quo is safe and sound. Without it, he has no income and no friends. Get this, Mr. Rothman. I´m America First because I live in America. I never even heard of the alt-right until Hillary mentioned it in a 2016 speech. You don´t like America First because you´re a parasite, a leech. All the money in the world, all the banks, the Endless War industry, the open borders crowd, insist on America Last--because it´s the only way they can make money. Meaning, they view us as global slaves. There´s absolutely no money behind putting America First. It only gets you voters and the US presidency.

The perception of Trump´s tweets are different depending on how and where your are, if you are a liberal Democrat or a liberal media apparatchik you no doubt wish that Trump would stop tweeting so that only your words would get out to the public, but if you are an ordinary American you know that the reason that Trump is tweeting (using social media) is because he recognizes that´s the only way that he can communicate with the American public and completely avoid the liberal media filter.

Clearly Trump has a sense of humor and the Democrats along with their media allies have none. When Trump makes a joke, the media always misscharacterizes what he said. If Trump mentions a button that is supposedly on his desk the media goes nuts claiming Trump is going to cause nuclear war, while if you remember when Hillary Clinton handed the Russian Foreign Minister a plastic "reset" button it was handled very different by the liberal media.

During his steel and aluminum import-tax proclamation this afternoon, President Trump repeated his claim that “if you don’t have steel, you don’t have a country.” The president’s tweet from a few days ago makes the same case. We must protect our country and our workers. Our steel industry is in bad shape. IF YOU DON’T HAVE STEEL, YOU DON’T HAVE A COUNTRY! No offense, but this makes no sense. First, Trump makes it sound as if our choice is between producing 100 percent of our steel (and having a country) or producing no steel (and presumably losing our country). He also implies

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — President Trump vented his anger with the Russia investigation late Saturday night and Sunday morning, declaring that “they are laughing their asses off in Moscow” over the ongoing probe into Moscow’s interference in the 2016 election. In a remarkable burst of tweets sent from his Mar-a-Lago resort, the president blamed the Obama administration for not doing enough to deter Russia and claimed he never denied the meddling took place — all while undercutting his own national security adviser who said Saturday that the interference is now “beyond dispute.” “If it was the GOAL of Russia

It turns out that in beer-drinking circles I would be considered unfashionable. Not because I insist on wearing cargo shorts or dad jeans. The Peacock network poached Kelly from Fox last year, enticing her from the conservative flagship network with a three-year, $69 million contract, according to the Wall Street Journal. But Kelly’s introduction to NBC, premiering at the 9 a.m. hour in September, was met with almost immediate controversy — a feud with Jane Fonda that the morning show host dragged out for months — and she never drew the viewership that the network was looking for. That’s a problem for Republicans, who now need to sort through the results to determine how problematic the landscape will be for them in November.
