Playboy learns the hard way

Playboy heir Cooper Hefner decided to be one of the cool kids this summer, and dumped on Trump. The heir may regret that error of airing a complaint about President Trump.(Snip) Not a bright idea. Playboy as a magazine is on its last legs as a new year begins. From the Daily Mail: Playboy may close down its print magazine in favor of forming profitable partnerships with nightclubs and casinos just months after founder Hugh Hefner´s death. "We want to focus on what we call the World of Playboy," Ben Kohn, a managing partner at private-equity firm Rizvi Traverse, Playboy´s controlling shareholder, told the Wall Street

Comments:
Picked a fight with PDJT over a Trump cover on Playboy published long before Cooper was even a gleam in his father’s eye. Silliness. And now Cooper is leading a failing enterprise. Add him and Playboy to the list of those who found out “Don’t Mess With Donald Trump”…. (listed in article)

Talk about an anachronism. Cooper should save his money and take welding classes.

Speaking from the experience gained in the 1950´s, Playboy was incredibly popular because it contained nude photos of beautiful women. Back then, about the only alternative was National Geographic magazine.
Today, well, today there´s total saturation of sex in every media. Nothing new that any 10 years old hasn´t see plenty of.

Like the milkman and the ice man, Playboy was great in its day but has outlived its usefulness. For 30 years or more its the closest thing many men, married and single, got to sex.
Now we have the internet. Whatever your wildest fantasy it is available with just a few clicks. Playboy just isn´t relevant anymore and probably never will be again. Its is for reminiscing and collecting. Not much else.

Washington’s self-righteous establishmentarians talk of professionalism when they act unprofessionally. They refer at length to their intellectual and professional pedigrees when they prove incompetent. And they cite their morality and ethics when they possess neither. And then, adding insult to injury, when the public expresses abhorrence at their behavior, they accuse critics of unprofessionalism, a lack of patriotism, or reckless demagoguery. A James Clapper can lie to Congress under oath about intelligence surveillance of U.S. citizens; a John Brennan can lie about CIA monitoring of U.S. Senate computers, or mislead Congress about the absence of any collateral damage in the

Kevin Williamson’s primal whine of a weekend essay in the Wall Street Journal reported that he was fired by the Atlantic magazine after serving an indecently short tenure—a matter of days in fact. He wants to explain how it all happened, but he’s too distraught to be coherent, so let me try to help. Let’s start with why the Atlantic hired him in the first place. Williamson’s stock-in-trade is the vituperative insult. Firmly ensconced in the part of the conservative movement that prides itself in good manners, he was, nevertheless, the epitome of unbridled nastiness at National Review. But then his

The charge that Donald Trump “colluded” with Russia to steal the 2016 election was never serious. The Democratic National Committee’s civil suit in that regard makes the unseriousness transparent. “Obstruction of justice” is the charge Democrats want to use to remove him from office. And in fact, Trump’s campaign, his election, and presidency, have done a lot of obstruction. He has thwarted longstanding bureaucratic policies and has fired bureaucrats. Whether that has obstructed justice or favored it depends on the meaning of “justice.” The following explains the “justice” that the Democratic Party and its ruling class retinue correctly accuse Donald Trump

The most remarkable aspect of it is no longer that there have been sharp populist turns in the American, British, German, Italian, French, Hungarian, Polish, Czech, Austrian and other electorates (including, nascently, Brazil on the right and Mexico on the left). It's from election night, when Chozick writes in Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns, and One Intact Glass Ceiling that it finally became clear somebody had to break the news to Clinton that she was going to lose to Donald Trump. The task fell to "Robby Mook, the drained and deflated campaign manager," per an excerpt in the Times. And when he finally did so, Clinton "didn't seem all that surprised," writes Chozick.
