Slated to report to prison Jan. 29, former Congresswoman Corrine Brown is asking a federal appeals court to allow her to remain free while she continues to fight her conviction on charges related to a charity scam. Brown´s attorney, William Mallory Kent, filed a 37-page document Friday at the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that seeks to keep her out of prison while an appeal is pending. The request is based on what will be a key issue in the appeal: whether U.S. District Judge Timothy Corrigan improperly removed a juror who said during deliberations that the "Holy Spirit" told

FTA: Brown, 71, long an influential figure in Jacksonville, represented a congressional district that stretched from Jacksonville to Orlando. She lost a re-election bid in 2016 after the district´s boundaries had been substantially redrawn and as she faced the criminal charges.

From Jacksonville to Orlando? That´s not a short distance, at least a couple of hours at best. The two cities were probably politically connected by a border that was as thin as a single highway, connected to none of the businesses and residences located thereon, only to heavily minority neighborhoods on either end of of the gerrymander.

Twenty years ago Corinne Brown was rated lowest congressional intelligence quotient by some dimly remembered study, tied with either Maxine W or Sheila JL. When one is stupid and basically corrupt, one has to become a huckster, and steal. It´s all one has got. Sayonara, Madame hairpiece. Maybe a grammar school beginning is available on the inside.

I see this on our news all the time. I think she has lived high off the money of Taxpayers for all the years she was in Congress. When she finally was caught, she tried to blame her Chief of Staff or someone else who handled her money! She is guilty as sin and deserves to do her time as an example! Next thing you know she will say she wants the same exemption as Hillary got!

Although Germany´s entire defense budget is $42 billion, it is as Donald Trump provocatively observed, only twice as much -- approximately $21 billion -- as it pays to Russia in gas purchases. The facts are stark. "About 35% of Germany’s gas is imported from Russia, and fracking is banned at least until 2021. A former Chancellor of Germany sits on the Gazprom board." At a time when Putin is the international bad guy it´s disturbingly hard to deny that much of his bankroll originates in Europe. Merkel is certainly intellectually aware of the facts. In light of her country´s energy dependency

An interesting news story ran in Thursday’s USA Today. “Baltimore police stopped noticing crime after Freddie Gray´s death,” read the headline. “A wave of killings followed.” What I found most interesting about it, though, was not the facts that were reported but rather that anyone should have found them surprising. “Just before a wave of violence turned Baltimore into the nation’s deadliest big city,” the story begins, “a curious thing happened to its police force: officers suddenly seemed to stop noticing crime.” The story goes on to describe how Baltimore’s police officers reported seeing fewer drug dealers out and about, fewer traffic

I have written so many columns detailing the radical views and mental derangement of liberals that it’s hard to believe it’s getting worse! Liberal candidate for New York Governor Cynthia Nixon (former star of “Sex and the City”) just went a step further into crazy land. She said, “I can think of no better description than to call ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) a terrorist organization.” Well at least it’s all now out into the open. I personally know appeals court Judge Brett Kavanaugh, who has been nominated by President Donald Trump to succeed retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy on the U.S. Supreme Court. To call him qualified for the role is a massive understatement. A graduate of Yale Law School, Kavanaugh has served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit since 2006. Previously, he served in multiple clerkships, including one for Justice Kennedy. In fact, several of his opinions have been adopted by the Supreme Court. ST. A spirited crowd of about 200 turned out despite the time and temperature: midday and about 90 degrees with 60 percent humidity. Although billed as a voter registration rally, it was difficult to find an attendee political enough to show up, but apathetic enough to not already be registered. Many were too young to vote. The indictment Friday of 12 Russian military officers for the election hacks against the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign lends a surprising new detail to the 2016 election interference timeline: The Kremlin’s hackers apparently still maintained a foothold in the DNC’s network four months after the Democrats announced that they’d locked the intruders out.
