I guess it´s safer (not morally correct) to let a lost or injured child alone and adhere to the principle of "No Duty" to assist.

I´d rather be thought of as "uncaring" than a pedophile.

Sorry God, I can´t help the children any longer.

Interesting - a filler piece that in it´s first paragraph epitomizes the Fake News aspect of Reason Magazine.

The first (posted) paragraph starts out with a headline: Mom Arrested - then finishes with: Then ticketed...

Lenore is either uneducated or a liar - both reasons Not to read the article or Reason magazine.

Too bad incident #6 didn´t happen in Vancouver, where (as incident #2 implies) the fist-flying dad would have been cited for letting his tot out of his presence for even a moment.

Reply #3 here seems like a valid point, though.

There should be an 11th story added to this.
On Dec. 30, 2017 two cable installers rescued a 2-year old from sure tragedy when they found her wandering into traffic on a busy Main Street in Monson, Mass. Temperature at the time was approximately 2 degrees (F), and the toddler was wearing nothing more than a diaper. Police eventually were able to identify the girl, and when they questioned her father (sic) he said he had "no idea" that she had wandered off, and wasn´t even aware of the fact that she was missing until police told him.

Lenore Skenazy is a gem (aka known as "America´s Worst Mom") and the original "Free Range" mom. Not a Conservative as far as I know (probably more libertarian) but she advocates for children and parents in a great way. She is also seriously funny. Here is her presentation, with Jonathan Haidt, on "Are Your Kids Too Fragile? How to Make the Next Generation More Resilient." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-SrsJiq0AE

Stopping Robert Mueller to protect us all

The “deep state” is in a deep state of desperation. With little time left before the Justice Department inspector general’s report becomes public, and with special counsel Robert Mueller having failed to bring down Donald Trump after a year of trying, they know a reckoning is coming. (Snip) This process must now be stopped, preferably long before a vote in the Senate. Rather than a fair, limited and impartial investigation, the Mueller investigation became a partisan, open-ended inquisition that, by its precedent, is a threat to all those who ever want to participate in a national campaign or an administration

A mother´s effort to honor her young children went terribly wrong when the tattoo she got of her son´s name was spelled incorrectly — so she took what some might call an unusual approach and named her son after the tattoo. "Kevin," the two-year-old son of Johanna Sandstrom, of Sweden, was renamed "Kelvin" after a tattoo artist inked the wrong name on her arm. (snip) When she returned to the tattoo shop, Sandstrom claims the tattoo artist laughed and said the only thing he could do to fix the situation was give her a refund. As Obamacare Premiums Soar, Dems Lie

America has a health insurance problem because politicians would rather lie about it than solve it. Obamacare regulations caused premiums for people buying their own insurance to more than double between 2013 and 2017, and then soar even higher in 2018. With huge hikes predicted again in 2019, the Affordable Care Act will have caused premiums to triple in six years. Ouch. But instead of telling the truth about why this is happening, politicians are dishing out lies. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is already announcing what he´s going to do about the rate hikes. The four-kilometre-wide strip dividing North and South Korea is an abyss. It is not so much that history has stopped along the Demilitarised Zone, more that it seems to seize and skip and stutter, so that if you look too closely at events in and from it you get a sense of motion sickness, if not outright vertigo. The Demilitarised Zone is a preposterous place, not least for its name. Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton acknowledged Friday that Democratic candidates around the country still face basic questions about what they stand for and which policies their party supports. Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters. Fair wages, the “absolute promise of universal health care,” public school funding, gun safety reform and equal pay were at the top of the former first lady’s agenda items that she thought should stay central to the Democratic Party’s platform.
