Rose Marie, the wisecracking Sally Rogers of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and a show business lifer who began as a bobbed-hair child star in vaudeville and worked for nearly a century in theater, radio, TV and movies, died Thursday. She was 94. Marie had been resting in bed at her Los Angeles-area home when a caretaker found she had stopped breathing, said family spokesman Harlan Boll. "Heaven just got a whole lot funnier" was the tribute posted atop a photo of Marie on her website. She was a child star of the 1920s and 1930s who endeared herself to

We were just talking about her the other day after watching the colorized special on CBS last week.

It was such a great show still holds it´s own today. No dirty words, no juvenile sex jokes...just pure "funny."

RIP Sally Rogers.

I always thought it was kind of said that on the Dick Van Dyke show, Sally Rogers never "got the guy", well not for long anyway. But I bet there were thousands of sweet, talented and funny ladies who could identify with her, and admire her strength and humor.

Awwww. RIP Rose Marie.

What a gal. So many hours enjoying Dick Van Dyke after school.

My mother told me her father (whom I never met as he died too young) was fond of saying "give me my rose while I´m still alive". And as irritating as he often can be I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the honor Johnny Depp gave to this lady.

From National Enquirer Jan 21, 2008: "At an exclusive screening of his movie, Sweeney Todd, the actor ditched bigwig pals Steven Spielberg, David Geffen and director Tim Burton to make a beeline for his idol… 84 year-old sitcom actress Rose Marie.

The comedian – best known as the perennial bachelorette in the 1960s series “The Dick Van Dyke Show” – is a supreme master of her craft, according to Depp.

“Johnny totally freaked when he saw Rose Marie,” a source told The Enquirer. “He hurried toward her and gave her a hug.”

“He told her he grew up watching her, that he’s seen every episode – and that he is her greatest fan.

“Rose Marie seemed incredible flattered, and Johnny made it clear he recognized her as an immense talent.

“They talked for about 10 minutes, and Johnny told her over and over how thrilled he was to meet her…

“Rose Marie got a thrill out of being praised by Johnny, one of Hollywood’s biggest stars,” said the source, “and she certainly deserves it.”

I think this leaves Dick himself as the last survivor of The Dick Van Dyke Show.

The funniest sit-com ever, and it still holds up today, as we watched some reruns the other night. What a cast it had.

R.I.P Rose and thanks for the memories, great pipes on that gal as well as her humor.

Dems fear ‘Stephen Miller

President Trump’s inflammatory remarks against immigrants from a host of developing-world nations have sparked outrage amid talks on the fate of Dreamers just as lawmakers from both parties were claiming progress on a hard-fought deal. But supporters of the immigration package say the deeper threat to an agreement is not the president, but the conservatives in both the White House and Congress fighting to kill the deal before it can pick up steam –– an effort they’re calling “the Stephen Miller ambush,” referencing a top White House aide. President Trump dissolved his controversial voter integrity commission Wednesday, giving up on one of key initiatives from the 2016 election. The White House said Mr. Trump didn’t want to fight an endless stream of costly legal battles against voter-rights groups, so he issued an executive order canceling the panel altogether. “Despite substantial evidence of voter fraud, many states have refused to provide the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity with basic information relevant to its inquiry,” the White House said in a statement. “Rather than engage in endless legal battles at taxpayer expense, today I signed an

President Trump kicked off the new year praising the people of Iran for “acting against” the regime, while accusing former President Barack Obama of helping Tehran fund “terrorism.” The spending on terror and proxy wars is part of what demonstrators are protesting. “The people of Iran are finally acting against the brutal and corrupt Iranian regime. All of the money that President Obama so foolishly gave them went into terrorism and into their ‘pockets.’ The people have little food, big inflation and no human rights. The U.S. is watching!” Trump tweeted early Tuesday. As Trump voices support for the protesters,

For all the squabbling that social media platforms are notorious for, their relevance to the media landscape plays an important role in times of protest. This was evident with Black Lives Matter, among other movements. It’s been evident for the past three days in Iran, where thousands have taken to streets and public squares calling for an end to the hardline conservative regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The question that needs to be asked right now is why traditional mainstream media outlets – grandstanding over their importance in this new, bold era of fact-checking and truth-telling – have largely ignored

President Trump sat down with New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt for an interview in West Palm Beach yesterday. Schmidt was low-key and even respectful, while Trump was ebullient. You can read excerpts here. (As always, there is no point in reading any newspaper’s account of the conversation.) Trump was his usual unscripted self–rambling, not very articulate, sometimes humorously self-promoting, generally correct if often imprecise. He talked at length, and with great confidence, about Mueller’s investigation.
