Court rules Oregon bakers who refused to
make lesbian couple a wedding cake WILL
have to pay them $135,000 in damages

An appellate court Thursday upheld a penalty against Oregon bakery owners who refused to make a cake for a same-sex wedding almost five years ago. The owners of the since-closed Gresham bakery - Aaron and Melissa Klein - argued that state Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian violated state and federal laws by forcing them to pay emotional-distress damages of $135,000 to the lesbian couple Rachel and Laurel Bowman-Cryer. (Snip) First Liberty Institute, the legal organization that represents the Kleins, disagreed with the ruling. ´The Oregon Court of Appeals decided that Aaron and Melissa Klein are not entitled to the Constitution´s promises

This is sickening. There was never any emotional distress, only a carefully orchestrated hit job designed to make an example of Bible-believing Christians.

Ok, let´s see a Jewish baker have to bake one for a Nazi celebration. One can come up with lots of examples where it really is absurd that the government can force someone to do business with anyone who walks in the door demanding whatever they wish. Hope they appeal this typically Leftist decision. BTW the super liberal, Brad Avakian is a complete horse´s behind in every way. He was just virtue signaling to the liberals in Oregon who love this kind of thing.

Talk about emotional distress -- what about the emotional distress caused to the bakers by the gay couple and the courts? That beats any "emotional distress" the bakers caused the gays by refusing to bake their cake.

According to the judge, "they have made no showing that other people will necessarily experience any wedding cake that the Kleins create predominantly as ´expression´ rather than as food,´"

Which explains why people pay a premium for a wedding cake as opposed to just buying an ordinary cake for their wedding, because after all it is just food.

This could have all been avoided and yet the bakers could have maintained their belief. I used to be in business for myself. I turned away a number of customers because I did not like them or their life style, and they never knew why. I "suddenly" became much too busy to fill their order, or do the service call they needed. No law says I can´t do that.
I can also so over charge with the initial estimate the customer will go elsewhere. Again no law stopping me.
If I had said I´m not doing it because you´re a particular color or gender or "couple" then they have a leg to stand on.
I feel bad they´re getting "legally" mugged and robbed. There are no thought police yet that can read my mind.

If you’re 4th amendment rights are violated, do you know how much you are entitled to in a lawsuit? Virtually nothing, unless you got the crap kicked out of you in the process. Some rights are more equal than others. Apparently rights that appear nowhere in the constitution are worth a lot more than ones that are clearly enumerated.

The court;´s definition of ´art" is badly flawed. If their definition was accurate, then the NEA would not have been able to define the crucifix in a jar of urine as art. Or do they expect a majority of people have to define cake decorating and sculpting an art- or just one person? What part of the word ´decorating and sculpting´ does not fit the definition of the word ´art´? Is religion, as protected in the Constitution subordinate to some arbitrary State law that defines ´sexual orientation" as a protected clause? The SCOTUS will have to decide this, I suppose, when the bully tyranny of the State is able to trample an individual´s so protected rights. This is wrong- and it should not have to be decided by the SCOTUS. It is wrong on face value.

Unconscionable litigation/judgment/penalty.

#9- Indeed, emotional distress for the bakery owners that is far beyond the alleged emotional distress of the lesbians; two women whose feelings were allegedly hurt, but seemingly lack feelings for the livelihood of a Christian couple--subjecting Aaron/Melissa Klein to emotional and financial stress appears to be inconsequential in their minds. It would be interesting to follow the money: Aaron/Melissa Klein quite likely must use and possibly deplete their life savings to cover litigation costs; what is the financial source for legal expenses on behalf of the lesbians? ACLU?

#14- Absolutely. Sow and reap (Galatians 6:7-8).

In Progressive enclaves far and wide across our nation, the Constitution is dead. First conceived by the Founding Fathers as a limited central government whose existence served only to enhance the security and commerce of the States united and secure the liberty of individual citizens, the document has been twisted, beaten, and finally torched mostly in the courts of our land.

The case currently under consideration by the Supreme Court has a baker who was obviously being TARGETED for his beliefs.

The person wanting the gay cake could have chosen over 60 other places but didn´t. They drove over 100 miles out of the way in fact.

The Oregon case is about wanting to FINANCIALLY RUIN the bakers instead of protecting their 1st amendment rights of conscience. Certainly, there are other places that could have baked the cake.

This would have stood under Nobama, but the court is supposed to be above party agendas and driven by the Constitution and State laws. The idea that they should just accept it and pay the fine is repugnant to most.

Deadly bacteria could be lurking in your dishwasher, new research reveals. The kitchen staple can contain everything from E.coli, which causes life-threatening food poisoning, to other pathogens linked to infections of the urinary tract, skin and inner heart lining, a Slovenian study found. Although usually harmless, these bacteria can be fatal in people with reduced immune systems, such as those undergoing chemotherapy or organ transplants. Bacteria and fungi are thought to enter dishwashers via the tap water that supplies them, as well as through contaminated food, the research adds. Pope Francis has conferred the title of “Commander of the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St. Gregory the Great” on Lilianne Ploumen, a Dutch politician and vocal agitator for abortion rights. Last year, Ploumen founded a pro-abortion organization called She Decides, which offers funding and support for international NGOs that provide, facilitate or campaign for abortion. In an email to the Catholic Herald, Ms. Ploumen said that she was “very honoured” by the pontifical medal, which was sent via the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs last month. In an interview with Dutch radio, Ploumen said she views the honor as a

Obama’s current office, which is run by former de facto President Valerie Jarrett, is just a mile or so from the White House. It is at that location one sees a daily procession of donors, political operatives, party affiliates (BOTH Democrat and Republican) media friends (of which there are many) and more shadowy figures representing a myriad of foreign interests. And each day this office and its two primary inhabitants – Obama and Jarrett, are asked the same question: WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT TRUMP? Obama being Obama, with his solar-system-sized ego intact, has been promising to do

California lawmakers are targeting the expected windfall companies in the state would see under the federal tax overhaul with a bill that would require businesses to turn over half to the state. A proposed Assembly Constitutional Amendment by Assemblymen Kevin McCarty, D -Sacramento and Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, would create a tax surcharge on California companies making more than $1 million so that half of their federal tax cut would instead go to programs that benefit low-income and middle class families.

Far from content living his golden years on the $400,000 speech and lecture circuit of other former presidents, President Obama has been busy with clawing back for his old power. He´s actually covertly plotting to oust his democratically elected successor, President Trump, vowing to his associates to "rip him a new one," in the 2018 midterm elections. Seems he´s not all that interested in watching his youngest daughter grow up. That´s the word from DCWhispers, which reports that Obama´s Kalorama mansion, in the heart of the capital´s most tony district, is the center of significant comings and goings among the Obamatons,

During his town hall tour across Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has given explicit notice to pro-life Canadians that their beliefs on abortion make them second-class citizens. (Snip) According to the article, Trudeau warned that "an organization that has the explicit purpose of restricting women´s rights by removing rights to abortion, the right for women to control their own bodies, is not in line with where we are as a government and quite frankly where we are as a society." According to Trudeau, his tongue-lashing of pro-life groups was prompted by responses to a change to who can receive grants as

Microwaves are as damaging to the environment as cars and users must be taught how to cook more efficiently, scientists say. The ovens are responsible for 7.7 million tons of the carbon dioxide pumped out from the EU each year — the equivalent of 6.8 million cars. Researchers say they are fueling global warming with consumers overcooking food to blame. Microwaves account for the largest percentage of sales of all types of oven in the EU, with numbers set to reach 135 million by 2020. But scientists at the University of Manchester — the first to assess the environmental impact

Sara Carter reports on a classified document that was released to all members of the House today. The document seems to be a compilation of information, prepared by House intelligence committee staff, relating to the anti-Trump dossier, the FBI, the warrant to conduct surveillance on members of the Trump campaign, and the use of that warrant. Carter calls the document a bombshell. Her sources say its revelations might lead to the removal of senior officials in the FBI and Department of Justice, and perhaps even the criminal prosecution of some. They also say, less plausibly, that the revelations could lead to
