Olympics: Lindsey Vonn injures back
in World Cup event

Yahoo! Sports, by Kevin Kaduk

Original Article

Posted By:hpmatt, 12/9/2017 11:01:38 AM

Lindsey Vonn’s road to her final Olympics has encountered some trouble. The American skiing star was treated for a back injury after completing her World Cup Super-G race in St. Moritz, Switzerland on Saturday. Vonn went to the ground after crossing the finish line and observers said she was experiencing extreme pain. She was treated in a nearby house and later limped to a car without speaking to reporters.

Comments:
As one of the Yahoo commenters said ´Trump wins again´. Obviously she must have had doubts about her ability to win by going off on Trump - distract from her aging abilities and the crop of new, younger, healthier competitors ready to bump her off. I guess she had enough money - to p/o probably half of her potential endorsement customers. Or maybe she wants to ´take a knee´ and get some of that NFL money....

Maybe she won´t have to represent the President at the Olympics. It´s a win-win situation for her and for those of us who will want to watch the Olympics without listening to her drivel.

Now she can run back to Tiger Woods. They both have back injuries which might make whoopee difficult but she´ll figure out a way.

He has a lot more money than she does so that should be an incentive for her.

FTA: She made news earlier this week when she said would “represent the people of the United States” at the Olympics “not the president.” Vonn also said she would not visit the White House as part of the traditional appearance by all American Olympians.

Lindsey must be suffering from a fall on her head.

She deserves pity, not sympathy.

re #15 :
I had heard of her. She made news with her Sports Illustrated cover that prominently--nay, primarily-- featured her outstretched butt (all the better to promote respect for the abilities of female athletes, doncha know). She and Tim Tebow were reportedly a thing back then, looks like Tim dodged a bullet if so. That said, and with due disgust for her stupid political grandstanding, I still would not wish serious, career-ending injury on her. More like just a natural end to her career at this point.

I am appalled and a bit ashamed of the shadenfreude expressed here. Lindsay Vonn is (or was) a world class athlete who suffered an injury, and reveling in someone else´s pain is ,IMO, low class. It is liberals who make everything about politics. We should be better than that and learn to separate someone´s talent from their politics. I hope her injury was slight and she recovers. I also have the probably vain hope that she will concentrate on skiing and keep mouth shut about her politics.

Saying that will probably get her into a few liberal parties, but that´s about all.

I don´t want to wish bad things on people for their idiocy and arrogance but neither am I as sympathetic toward them. I hope she heals up OK and I hope she wises up as well. She doesn´t have to be a Trump supporter but she should learn some respect for the President and the large number of Americans that support him AND who as a member of the US Olympic team she DOES represent. If she doesn´t learn respect, she should be told her services are no longer required by the American people.

Democrats called it the Trump shutdown. Republicans labeled it the Schumer shutdown. But in reality, it was the Dreamer shutdown. The recipe for the current congressional gridlock is complex, but at the top of the list of ingredients are the illegal immigrant Dreamers who pushed Democrats to launch the filibuster that sent the government careening into a partial shutdown. It’s a stunning display of political leverage for a group that, at most, numbers several million, can’t vote now, and even under the most generous proposals wouldn’t be able to cast ballots for another decade. It´s no secret that Mitt Romney is, in all likelihood, going to run for a Senate seat in Utah. What´s less clear, however, is why the man who was the 2012 Republican presidential nominee and is now retired and occupying an elder-statesman role in a party torn into warring factions would want to serve as a junior senator. Once elected, Romney would find himself embroiled in day-to-day congressional fights and less free to voice his criticisms of the White House, while losing some of the deference he´s been shown by members of his own party. The Senate on Monday was set to hold a successful vote to reopen the federal government, after Senate Democrats agreed to let the bill through even though it doesn´t include immigration language they are seeking. "We will vote today to reopen the government to continue negotiating a global agreement," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said on the floor. Under the bill up to be called up, the government would be fully funded through Feb. 8, and it would fund the Children´s Health Insurance Program for six years. It would also reopen the government, which has been partially closed since midnight
