FBI Director Christopher Wray testified at a House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing on Thursday morning. He defended the FBI against Trump’s scorched earth tweets attacking the institution’s corrupt leadership and refused to answer many key questions. Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) asked the FBI Director if the Hillary-funded garbage dossier was used to spy on Trump’s camp and Wray refused to answer. (Photos) Mollie Hemmingway, Senior Editor at The Federalist and contributor for Fox News tweeted, “Ron DeSantis asks if (Dem-funded) dossier was used to generate surveillance on Trump associate. Wray refuses to say.”

Christopher Wray could not say because the matter is under investigation by the Inspector General of the Dept. of Justice. But then if there was nothing to what the Congressman was talking about, Wray could have said so. Stay tuned as it appears that the Congressman looks like he knows that he is talking about.

Director Wray said nothing during this hearing. Most of the emphasis was on getting the FBI to provide documents the Congress has subpoenaed and is entitled to. Director Wray did not seem sufficiently informed, as I would hope he would be, having received a Congressional subpoena, and the responses of the FBI have not be cooperative. Wray said he is waiting. That we know, but the subpoena did not say wait, it said send over the documents.

Re #2, DeSantis is very, very good. Appears fairly often on FBN. I like him a lot.

I hope that I’m wrong, but Wray came across as a bit of a Company Man. A political wuss. This is a complex story. I’ll wait, give him a little more rope.

We know the IG is investigating the FBI. Sessions and the IG released statements Friday, and I think this is heading towards some FBI folks getting nailed, as they should.

I am betting that Wray has been told in no uncertain terms that if he muffs the investigation in any way, he could be earning a spot on the list of former FBI agents.

President Trump has understandable reasons for distrusting the U.S. intelligence community, according to a former CIA official who led the agency under former President Barack Obama. Mike Morell, who served as acting director of the CIA from 2012-2013, took some of the blame for Trump’s feud with the CIA. Morell lamented that he failed to consider how Trump would consider his endorsement for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, especially when paired with other officials’ criticisms and a series of unflattering leaks. “And [Trump] could rightfully have said, ‘Huh, what’s going on with these intelligence guys?’ Right?” Morell told Politico’s Susan

Former President Obama and his vice president, Joe Biden, each provided last-minute help to fellow Democrat Doug Jones in Tuesday’s Alabama Senate election, but the candidate is keeping quiet about it. Obama and Biden recorded robocalls urging Alabama voters to cast ballots for Jones in his contest against Republican Roy Moore. But Jones denied knowing whose calls his campaign was placing to voters. “I don’t know what’s being used,” he told reporters on Monday.
