Nikki Haley stands as voice
for common sense at UN on migration

American Thinker, by Monica Showalter

To considerable pearl-clutching by global elites, the U.S. has pulled out of the United Nations´ global framework for migration, known for now as the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants. And President Trump and his United Nations ambassador, Nikki Haley have done it for all the right reasons, making this as applause-worthy as anything the Trump administration team has done. Just listen to the kvetching from the Guardian in its lede: The Trump administration has pulled out of the United Nations´ ambitious plans to create a more humane global strategy on migration, saying involvement in the process interferes with American sovereignty, and

I read when the Admin voted, Nikki was only one in favor of staying in it. Even Tillerson´s state dept guy suggested to get out too. I have doubts about Nikki.

She said: "We will decide how best to control our borders and who will be allowed to enter our country. The global approach in the New York declaration is simply not compatible with US sovereignty."

No word-mincing there. Go Nikki!

Nikki is Trump’s voice in the U.N. Every word the Ambassador utters is Trump foreign policy - strong and clear.

I think Nikki is doing tremendous job. She is turning out to be just the right messenger to this corrupt body. This was a very smart appointment, Mr. President.

God Bless you Ambassador Hailey.

One of the more obvious things about the Trump economy is how much better it is than the Obama economy. Yet incredibly, President Obama, as if jealously looking on at this night-and-day difference, is trying to claim credit for it. From the Washington Times: Former President Barack Obama is taking credit for the robust economic growth that is taking place under President Trump. At a conference of mayors in Chicago, Mr. Obama congratulated himself Tuesday for strong employment numbers in the U.S. this year, saying his climate-change policies have contributed to growth.

Jerry Brown is at it again. Blaming Californians for the devastating series of California wildfires month, he went Full Moonbeam and declared the problem a function of global warming, calling it a new normal about which nothing is to be done. As if wildfires that sweep away homes in California´s unique Mediteranean microclimates have never happened before this past week. Compare and contrast to President Trump´s gracious tweet on the matter, which was the classy thing to say: Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the path of California’s wildfires. I encourage everyone to heed the advice and orders of local and state

Since its inception in 1994, the Vanity Fair Oscar party, long hosted by Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter, has become the must-attend bash for Hollywood A-listers. LOS ANGELES – A flare-up on the western edge of Southern California´s largest and most destructive wildfire sent residents fleeing Sunday, as wind-fanned flames churned through canyons and down hillsides toward coastal towns. Crews with help from water-dropping aircraft saved several homes as unpredictable gusts sent the blaze churning deeper into foothill areas northwest of Los Angeles that haven´t burned in decades. New evacuations were ordered in Carpinteria, a seaside city in Santa Barbara County that has been under fire threat for days. "The winds are kind of squirrely right now," said county fire spokesman Mike Eliason. "Some places the smoke is

After more than a decade of studying wildfires, San Diego County took its final exams last week. Did we pass? Authorities say the region is far better equipped to handle swift, wind-whipped flames than it was during the firestorms of 2007 and ’03. “We’re about $460 million more prepared,” Supervisor Dianne Jacob said Friday, “both on the ground and in the air.” Officials cited better communication between fire agencies; more fire engines and air tankers on the front lines, day and night; and better tracking of the flames. Despite these advances, the Lilac Fire’s first 24 hours consumed 4,100 acres

File under "unclear on the concept" in championing the value of human life. It´s hard to say which player in this drama here is most loathsome. Soros is appalling just for his uni-world vision with rotted out values, from pot legalization to releasing predators out on the streets from prisons to coercive, anything-goes redefinitions of family. Update (1:30 p.m.) - California Governor Jerry Brown says deadly and destructive wildfires in winter are "the new normal." Brown on Saturday toured Ventura County neighborhoods ravaged by a weeklong wildfire that killed at least one person and destroyed hundreds of homes and other buildings. At a news conference, Brown said drought and climate change mean California faces a "new reality" where lives and property are continually threatened by fire, at a cost of billions of dollars. He added that gusty winds and low humidity are continuing and warned that there´s a good chance of seeing "firefighting at Christmas." He also said: "With climate

North County’s Lilac wildfire is now 20 percent contained as firefighters focus on hotspots and embers that could ignite islands of vegetation the fire hasn’t yet scorched. Many residents forced to evacuate continue to wait for permission to return home, with firefighting officials saying they’re reluctant to let residents go back because they could be forced to evacuate again if fires flare up. Some of the crews that worked overnight to suppress the 4,100-acre blaze are getting relief from new crews scheduled to join the effort this morning. Alabama is one of the most reliably Republican states in the country. The last time a Democrat was elected was in 1992, and no Democrat has won more than 40 percent of the vote in a Senate race there since 1996. The closest election in recent memory was in 2002, when Jeff Sessions won re-election by a razor-thin margin of 19 points. Sen. Richard Shelby has won his last three elections by 35 points, 30 points and 28 points, respectively. So it takes a special kind of stupid to pick a candidate who can lose to a Democrat in Alabama.
