They´re leaving California for Las Vegas
to find the middle-class life that eluded them

Los Angeles Times, by Steve Lopez

Original Article

The rent steals so much of your paycheck, you might have to move back in with your parents, and half your life is spent staring at the rear end of the car in front of you. You’d like to think it will get better, but when? All around you, young and old alike are saying goodbye to California.

Comments:
Ahh yes, Leavng CA for greener pastures. But they don´t ask why it´s better in NV (less lib´s infringing our freedom). Unfortunately they bring with them their voting preferences so it´s only a matter of time before we start circling the drain.

Good for them. Ultraliberal Steve Lopez has always lit the way.

I would not be happy in Las Vegas. Ever. Been there in the past under pretty spiffy circumstances. It’s still Las Vegas, Seamy.

The elites don´t care; they´re planning on replacing all those leaving with non-citizens from south of the border. The uber-rich and famous will have their housekeepers, gardeners, cooks and pool-boys who will live and die in the slums outside their gated communities, guarded with military armed security. Meanwhile they will direct those in hell to vote for the Elites interests in Washington, having altered their state laws to encourage non-citizens to vote in nationa elections.

The Californians in Las Vegas are creating Southern California there. There are better parts of Nevada, but do not expect your neighbor to have voted for Hillary.

The concept of leaving one’s home because bad people have tried to co-opt one’s freedom is so un-American. We do not back off, shrink from challenges, retreat. It is OUR state and many of the miscreants are from elsewhere, either south or east of the borders. Even north. So no. I am very American. I do not retreat. Go off and leave this wonderful place to the morons who are here illegally? Who hang out on the streets in South LA? Who flooded into the state looking for the pot of gold when their own states were mess? Never.

Watch out Las Vegas, the liberal-loony cockroaches are one their way. They have ruined Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and are not working on Nevada, Arizona, and Texas.

They ruin their own state and then move on to destroy the next one.

FTA: "The rent steals so much of your paycheck..."

Makes the home rental business illegal and landlords criminals. Sounds like the common lament of old blues musicians who were "ripped off" by the record companies. The fact that they willingly and happily signed a lease (recording contract) that seemed favorable doesn´t mean that you can turn around and claim victim status. Maybe if you could provide the name of the person who held a gun to your head. Crybabies.

Other states trying to blame CA for their problems.
Our state population is increasing, not decreasing, and it is not due entirely to illegals (that has actually slowed down due to the walls built on the border).
With 40 million people, even a tiny percentage moving can overwhelm communities, or even states.
Fact is that we would appreciate it if the rest of you quit coming here. We are running out of space, and already have more than enough unskilled labor.

I cant blame anyone for wanting to leave that horrible place. Last time I was there was 1971 and that was too recent. By the late 2000´s they had metastasized in NM and wrecked that place, too. Apparently they see no irony in leaving a place because of the high costs and taxes, but complaining that the new place doesn´t have enough social services and all taxes are reasonable if they were lower than CA.
If I was in charge of everything, former Kalifornians would be required to surrender all sunglasses, spandex and stylish riding machines. They would be ineligible to vote or hold elected office for at least ten years after arrival. Hopefully by then they would have assimilated.

Las Vegas is a poor choice. Las Vegas is run by Service Employees International Union and its hotel-maid members. SEIU is an arm of the Democrat party, and it overwhelms the rest of Nevada. Nevada is a blue state.

A few years back read a story of how a couple left NYC for Florida. They loved owning a house and paying no income tax. The problem was they were voting for all the things that they fled. I have concluded that liberals are so stupid, they can not understand their policies are what makes a city or state too expensive to live in.

Liberals aren´t stupid, just illogical. That´s why they keep trying socialism over and over again. It´s fair.

I live in Florida, and I do worry about the yankee blue voters bring their benighted habits here. I´m amused when the media starts to gush at the possibility. The last spasm of such excitement was at the Puerto Rican hurricane refugees being settled in this state.

We moved to Henderson outside Las Vegas 4 years ago. It is turning blue as we speak from New Yorkers, Chicagoans and Californians. The unions in Las Vegas commit voter fraud and blue Vegas overwhelms the remainder of red Nevada. The ONLY apparent firewall is that the state income tax is prohibited in the Nevada Constitution. But that will go someday too. But it´s cheap - nice cheap homes, low property taxes, no state income tax - for now.

If they think Las Vegas is good, then California must be the devil´s playground. Even 21 years ago, Las Vegas had a huge gang problem. (Remember Tupac Shakur getting Swiss-cheesed there in 1996?)
Don´t even mention the weather. Las Vegas is fairly nice in the winter and turns into a blast furnace in the summer.

I hear it seldom mentioned that illegals in states like California and Texas get them additional representation in the House because U.S. Census figures are used to apportion them. At current national population, you get about one representative for every 750,000 in population. If Cali has, 2.5M+ illegals, then Cali´s 53 House seats is about 4 more than they deserve. As a native Californian, I think that 2.5M figure bandied about in this state is LOW.

#19 Interesting. Iowan´s came out here in some number and made fine contributions to the success of California before the state lost its way, then lost its mind a few decades ago. I remember growing up in L.A. hearing Long Beach described as Little Iowa and them holding Iowa picnics there as I recall. A long time ago.

On Tuesday, Democrat Doug Jones pulled off a stunning victory over Republican Roy Moore in Alabama. The race went down to the wire, but the Democrat prevailed. Here are five things to know about why Jones won, why Moore lost, and what it means for the future of the U.S. Senate and both parties. 1. Character matters. According to NBC News exit polls, 49 percent of Alabama voters thought the sexual assault accusations against Roy Moore were "definitely" or "probably" true. Republicans and Democrats split on partisan lines — a whopping 82 percent of Republicans said the allegations were "probably" or "definitely" false,

Franken announced last Thursday that he would be resigning “in the coming weeks” after eight different women accused him of groping or forcibly kissing them. “The timing of Franken’s resignation remains unclear, as is his motive in delaying it,” New York Magazine’s Ed Kilgore noted at the time. Franken begrudgingly offered his resignation after 35 Democratic senators called on him to do so, three weeks after he was first accused

A mountain of evidence points to a single fact: Russia meddled in the U.S. presidential election of 2016. In both classified and public reports, U.S. intelligence agencies have said Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered actions to interfere with the election. Those actions included the cyber-theft of private data, the placement of propaganda against particular candidates, and an overall effort to undermine public faith in the U.S. democratic process. Members of Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, have held open and closed door hearings to probe Russia’s actions. The congressional investigations are ongoing. The Alabama Supreme Court has reportedly stayed a lower court’s order to election officials that would have required the preservation of voting records in Tuesday’s Senate special election. A circuit judge on Monday ordered election officials to set voting machines to save all digital ballot images, which would preserve voting records in the event of a recount. Alabama´s AL.com said Tuesday morning that the state´s Supreme Court had blocked the order.
