Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) has not decided whether to resign, his lawyer said Thursday, despite calls from congressional leaders to step down amid several allegations of sexual harassment. “Nancy Pelosi did not elect the congressman, and she sure as hell won’t be the one to tell the congressman to leave,” said Conyers’ attorney, Arnold Reed, referring to the House minority leader. Conyers, 88, was hospitalized after suffering chest pains and dizziness Wednesday night. Reed also suggested that the calls for Conyers’ resignation are racially motivated. “I would suspect that Nancy Pelosi is going to have to explain what is the

Guess this lawyer doesn´t understand that if Pelosi wanted to she could take away all Conyers committees and censor him. Doubt she will, but she has a lot of power short of forcing him to resign.

Unbelievable. "Those people" can´t wait to drop the "racially motivated" card. What is it about them? Only way they can get ahead is to use this wedge. No ability, but guilt moves them up the ladder. Guilt and a voter base that´s 99% dark and supports them.

There are few better political joys than reading about the dems eating their own. Three things I look forward to with my morning coffee 1. is reading about another PT win and 2. reading about another dem icon being exposed (pun intended) for naughty behavior and 3. the dems having to take out the trash. Nice.

The death of internationally acclaimed author Sue Grafton means at least one mystery will remain unsolved. Grafton, a Louisville native, was known globally for her alphabet detective series featuring investigator Kinsey Millhone. She died Thursday night following a battle with cancer. Grafton´s series began with "A is for Alibi" in 1982 and continued through "Y is for Yesterday," released in August 2017. Her last book, "Z is for Zero," was scheduled for release in fall 2019, according to the author´s website. But her husband, Steve Humphrey, said Grafton had yet to start writing the novel. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel had a good year at the expense of city residents – and for that he might want to thank President Donald Trump. Despite presiding over a city with rampant money and crime problems, Democrat Emanuel has bolstered his approval ratings and become the rising star of the left by placing himself front and center in the anti-Trump "resistance movement." Emanuel declared the Windy City a “Trump-free zone,” prevailed in a legal battle against the White House over threats to cut funding from sanctuary cities, and came out in strong support of combatting climate change – an

As many as 1,000 juveniles converged Tuesday night at the Cherry Hill Mall, creating a disturbance that jangled a lot of post-holiday shoppers´ nerves but, police said, did not result in any injuries or property damage. Police responded to the area near JC Penney around 7:30 p.m. for a report of a large group of disorderly teens. They estimated between 700 and 1,000 unaccompanied youths had descended on the area; as police dispersed the crowd, they arrested five people: four juveniles from Camden and one from Cherry Hill. The youths face charges including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The incident

After bruising defeats in Virginia, New Jersey, and Alabama, Republicans are bracing for the possibility that Democrats take back the House in 2018—and Democrats, after a year in the wilderness, are beginning to seriously debate the political ramifications of impeaching Donald Trump if they do. For months, the Democratic base has been agitating for leadership to take more aggressive steps to censure the president. Until now, the idea of impeaching Trump has taken a backseat to more prosaic concerns. But if Democrats take back the House, that conversation will quickly enter the mainstream—as will the attendant political risks. Democratic leadership

In the three years since Michael Brown’s fatal shooting in Ferguson, police body-worn cameras have been sold to the public as a tool that would primarily deter police misconduct. One of the main selling points is the claim that the devices would have a “civilizing effect” on officers. (Snip) So far, there’s little evidence to suggest that department-owned, officer-operated cameras will lead to any meaningful improvements. To the contrary, a tool that’s viewed by some as one that can protect black lives is actually one that mainly helps those in blue. Former Obama deputy national security advisor Ben Rhodes mused about the deaths of top Republicans on Twitter Thursday before being scolded by GOP Rep. Rhodes issued the inflammatory tweet in response to fellow Obama White House advisor Dan Pfeiffer, who joked that he hopes President Donald Trump’s Instagram photo celebrating the passage of the GOP tax reform bill appears on the front page of The New York Times when Trump is indicted. Pfeiffer didn’t specify what Trump would be indicted for. Rhodes agreed and added

Hillary Clinton has all but avoided appearing at campaign events since her stunning 2016 loss, but some Democrats believe she would be a welcome voice in the 2018 midterms. Despite polling that shows Clinton with low favorability ratings, they say the former secretary of State could help Democratic candidates in congressional districts she won last year. “For me, it´s a no-brainer,” former Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.), the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman during the 2012 and 2014 election cycles, said in an interview. “If she´s willing to go into those districts she won, she would be extraordinarily helpful,” he said.
