Alabama has its back up, or at least its Republicans and conservatives do, and it’s understandable. They don’t like when Northerners and liberals and people in Washington tell them who their senator should be. They don’t like when reporters from outside come down and ask questions and turn over rocks looking for what’s crawling on the underside. (Snip) The charges against Mr. Moore are not only serious; they are completely credible. If you read the original Washington Post story, you know it was rigorously reported, with great care and professionalism. Four women who did not seek out the press, who did
Comments: A longtime Helpful Republican urges the hicks in Alabama to elect a liberal Democrat, because that´s what GOPe principles are all about. Not mentioned are Moore´s completely credible refutations of the attacks levied against him, as these must not be mentioned in the MSM.
The Wall Street Journal and Peggy have ´made their beds´ and ´exposed their cards´ rendering themselves irrelevant.
Mantra: If the WSJ and/or Peggy Noonan is for something, I´m against it. If they are against something, I´m for it.
I believe the Polls, are reminiscent of Hillary Polls. Most of the respondents are saying they will not vote for the good Judge only to assuage the pollsters ire. What they do in the ballot box is another matter.
The old RINO Noonan hasn´t been relevant since 1999. Just ignore her and move along. I haven´t read a single one of her columns in the WSJ since she fell in love with PurpleLipps back in 2007. She nothing but an old has been that has lost all credibility. Get lost Noonan - no one with sense cares what you have to say!
Congress is a cesspool doling out taxpayer hush money. Even if all the accusations against Moore were true ( I doubt that very much ) he would be among the better members of congress. Hypocrisy is running rampant in this debate. Let´s insist that the names of all congressional beneficiaries of taxpayer hush money be made public before we take seriously any of these smears against Roy Moore.
Dear Peggy, I understand your concern that electing Judge Moore to the Senate may damage his reputation, seeing how many current members are women-assaulting lowlifes, but it´s a risk we´re willing to take, because we know that while our "elites" are strong enough to stand up to un-elected Republicans when they are accused of misdeeds in the distant past, they also lack the fortitude to either stand-up to current members involved in corrupt activities, nor do they even seem capable of passing legislation they often campaigned on.
In short, the liars in Washington are going to get some new partners, and many of them are about to be replaced. Hugs and kisses! America.
The women of Alabama are mostly Christians. If Roy says he didn’t do it, they believe him because he is not a documented lying liar. He is a Christian as well. Christians forgive. Plus they don’t want ast coast carpetbaggers sticking their noses into their business. They know full well that Mitch McConnell is the perpetrator of this dirtiest deed of character destruction. In the end I predict Roy will win big big big. MAGA!
All I had to read was the line in the 1st paragraph, saying the WaPo story was rigorously reported with great care and professionalism, to know she was in the tank! It´s like accusing CNN of telling the truth, a joke!
Noonan, a worthy wordsmith, seems to have not have heard about the omissions of the original WaPo article that pokes multiple holes in their story. Either that or she doesn´t care. She´s GOPe..head to toe.
Virtually everything that has come out over the past week has proved Moore innocent of the charges, something that Noonan and the WSJ must have missed. Witnesses are refuting the claims of the accusers.
Alabama women, please say no to Peggy Noonan. When 40 year old accusations come out of thin air two weeks before an election, be suspicious. Be very suspicious. And don´t blindly follow the advice of someone who would have turned you away from a candidate in the first place.
When I tried clicking on the article from the link on Drudge, I noticed that the WSJ has this under "Opinions - Declarations"
- that strikes me as somewhat odd, what´s up with that? Are declarations different from opinions? Or do they mean - let´s say - the President declares war, they will put it on this page?
Anyway, Peggy Noonan waxes on about the put-downs of Southerners and then proceeds to engage in crude and rude smears of Southerners all around.
Does she think it is good salesmanship to put down the men who belong to the women she is attempting to convince?
Also, does she truly believe that the Washington Post reporting was really great journalism?
There is nothing persuasive or logical here - it is more of the same scolding and haranguing from the "because we know what´s best for you" crowd.
Now, pretty soon we should be getting something from Miss Minnie Dowd over at the NYT . . .
I really think those two communicate secretly using a pneumatic tube system installed during the glory days of writers and editors who lived and worked in Manhattan - they send story ideas back and forth and no one knows, safer than e-mail - then they toddle back to bed for a while.
I hope and pray that the voters of Alabama stand up and vote for Judge Moore - they will be doing the rest of the country a big favor in so many ways.
It will be thrilling, like watching the American hockey team beating the Soviets in 1980.
"Never a straight thing was made from the crooked timber of man"
(I googled it and found the above quote on the Wikipedia page)
Doesn´t it seem that she could give credit to Immanuel Kant?
(personally, I don´t care for this view of humanity - isn´t it saying we are all potentially degenerate and going the wrong way - crooked - because that´s the way trees go and so do people - misanthropic!)
Since Ms. Noonan quoted Kant (without attribution), I wonder if that means that she assumes women of Alabama would not understand that was Kant´s and so she did not say, "as Kant said, blah blah blah"
or did she just assume that was one of her little Noonanisms and leave it at that -
refreshing my memory about Kant while reading the Wikipedia page for him, I found this regarding Kant´s view on homosexuality (from the Wikipedia page):
Views on homosexuality "A second crimen carnis contra naturam is intercourse between seux hornogenii, in which the object of sexual impulse is a human being but there is homogeneity instead of heterogeneity of sex, as when a woman satisfies her desire on a woman or a man on a man. This practice too is contrary to the ends of humanity: for the end of humanity in respect of sexuality is to preserve the species without debasing the person: but in this instance the species is not being preserved."
It seems to me that Immanuel Kant, Judge Roy Moore and many of the people of Alabama are "on the same page" on this topic.
Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm whose Democrat-financed Russia dossier fueled an FBI investigation into Donald Trump, pitched other stories about the Republican presidential candidate to Washington reporters, including an attempt to tie him to a convicted pedophile who was once buddies with former President Bill Clinton. Journalist sources told The Washington Times that Fusion founder Glenn Simpson pushed the idea of a close relationship between Mr. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, who pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting sex from an underage girl. The Trump-Epstein link appears purely social, far short of Mr. Clinton’s 20-plus plane rides on Epstein’s “Lolita Express”
President Trump pressured congressional Democrats Saturday to drop their demands for amnesty for young illegal immigrants as part of a year-end spending deal, saying their insistence on protecting illegals is part of a liberal mindset that led to the death of Kate Steinle in San Francisco. “Unfortunately, Democrats in Congress not only oppose our efforts to stop illegal immigration and crack down on sanctuary cities,” Mr. Trump said in his weekly address. “Now they are demanding amnesty as a condition for funding the government, holding troop funding hostage and putting our national security at risk. We cannot allow it.”
The US Navy says an African-American sailor who claimed that a fellow shipmate had vandalized his bunk with racial slurs actually faked the whole incident. Marquie Little, 27, an African-American aviation boatswain´s mate airman aboard the aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush claimed in a Facebook post that one of his shipmates had vandalized his sleeping area with the word ´n*****´ and trashing it. In the November 15 post, which was apparently written under an alias Facebook account and has since been shared 20,500 times, Little had written, ´I proudly serve the Navy and this is what I’m receiving in return,´
The son of Rep. John Conyers, who resigned from Congress this week amid sexual harassment accusations, was arrested in Los Angeles in February on suspicion of domestic violence, NBC News has learned. John Conyers III, who his father endorsed for his Congressional seat as he departed, ´body slammed [his girlfriend] on the bed and then on the floor where he pinned her down and spit on her,´ the police report said. The junior Conyers rebutted her statement saying the girlfriend, who wasn´t named in the complaint, was using alcohol and marijuana, and tried to throw him out of the residence.
Lionsgate has dropped its John Gotti biopic starring John Travolta just 10 days before the movie´s scheduled released date. The surprising eleventh hour move was reported on Tuesday, with several sources confirming the studio has cut ties with the project. Lionsgate has reportedly sold Gotti back to its production company Emmett/Furla/Oasis and they are expected to be seeking new distribution. (Snip) However, it´s highly unlikely a new distributor will be found in time for the slated release date of December 15 and it will no doubt get pushed to 2018. Lionsgate has not given any explanation for the sale which took place on
Mobile, Alabama — The Republican National Committee (RNC) is now again backing Judge Roy Moore, the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate in Alabama. The RNC’s decision to now publicly support Moore again comes in the wake of President Donald Trump’s wholehearted endorsement of Moore on Monday morning. (Snip) Throughout this process, since the Washington Post published frivolous evidence-free allegations against Moore, the RNC’s position has closely mirrored the White House position on Moore. At first, the RNC held out criticism or withdrawal of support while the president was overseas in Asia on a multi-day, multi-country trip.
Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello Nevares last month asked federal taxpayers to shell out $94 billion to pay for the territory’s recovery from Hurricane Maria — then turned around and paid out about $100 million in Christmas bonuses to island government employees. The governor’s aides say the bonuses are a longstanding tradition and part of the law, and were planned for in the budget approved last summer. But that budget came well before Hurricanes Irma and Maria slammed into Puerto Rico, leaving much of the territory in ruin and leaving the government begging for federal assistance. The island’s financial oversight board,
Even if President Trump stops calling her “Pocahontas,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren may be unable to silence the chatter over her dubious claims of Cherokee ancestry for at least the next year, thanks in part to someone whose Indian heritage isn’t in doubt. Shiva Ayyadurai, a Bombay-born, MIT-educated entrepreneur running as an independent to unseat the Massachusetts Democrat, already is the early favorite for the November election’s catchiest campaign slogan: “Only a real Indian can defeat a fake Indian.” In June, he sent Ms. Warren a DNA testing kit for her birthday. She sent it back, but the exchange exploded on
A Somali refugee who raped two Utah women when he was 14, has been spared adult prison - despite pleas from one of his victims. Mohammed Ali Mohammed, 20, has spent almost six years at a Salt Lake Valley juvenile detention center after pleading guilty rape, sexual assault and kidnapping charges in 2012, the Salt Lake Tribune reports. (Snip) One woman, who was attacked and raped in her own Salt Lake City home by Mohammed, who then forced her at knife point to take money out at the ATM, said she is ´terrified´ at the thought her rapist will be free
Hundreds have been evacuated from Oxford Circus tube station amid reports of gunshots. Armed police have arrived on scene after a gunman was reported to have fired shots. Witnesses at the scene described seeing a lorry on the pavement surrounded by police as if it had ´ploughed´ into pedestrians. Next to the lorry, the pavement was said to be covered in blood. People in the area also reported hearing gun shots being fired, though there has been no confirmation as of yet. Dan Smallbone said on Twitter: ´There is a lorry stopped on the pavement in Oxford street, police all around it and blood
Missouri school officials said a non-white student confessed this week to scrawling a racist message on a girls’ bathroom mirror, causing unrest at a St. Louis-area high school. The controversial phrase, “White Lives Matter,” followed by the N-word was discovered on a girls’ bathroom mirror at Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield on Nov. 15. (Snip) “The use of the N-word, in the context of the message on the bathroom mirror, provoked feelings of hate, not love,” he said, a local CW affiliate reported. “As I stated last week, actions and speech which degrade an individual’s human dignity
Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old member of the MS-13 gang in connection with the stabbing death of an unidentified man whose decapitated body was found with the heart removed. Police suspect up to 10 members of the gang lured the victim out to a park in Wheaton, Md., where they stabbed him more than 100 times before burying him in a grave in the woods, the Washington Post reported. Allegedly among them, Miguel “Timido” Angel Lopez-Abrego, who authorities recently arrested in North Carolina on Nov. 11. He’s since been extradited to Maryland and has a bond review slated for Wednesday afternoon.
The NFL protests have been lucrative for social justice charities — they´ll receive a whopping $89 million in "settlement" money, redirected from veterans and breast cancer charity funds — but they´re also becoming a boon for cash-strapped football fans. It turns out, if you can still stomach a professional football game, you can now get tickets for about the same price as a couple of Starbucks lattes. According to Vivid Seats, an NFL ticket reselling site, seat prices at most NFL stadiums have bottomed out, leaving fans able to snag a lower level seat for a Buffalo Bills game for
The family of the alleged ISIS-inspired Port Authority bomber said they were “heartbroken” by the attack on Monday and blasted law enforcement agencies for what they claimed were heavy-handed tactics by investigators. “We are heartbroken by the violence that was targeted at our city today and by the allegations being made against a member of our family,” said the statement read by Albert Fox Cahn, the Legal Director for the NY Chapter Council for Islamic Relations. “But we’re also outraged by the behavior of the law enforcement officials who held children as small as 4 years old out in the
In 1990, when liberal journalists still had some sense of obligation to the truth, Michael Kelly wrote the following for GQ: As [Carla] Gaviglio enters the room, the six-foot-two, 225-plus-pound [Sen. Ted] Kennedy grabs the five-foot-three, 103-pound waitress and throws her on the table. She lands on her back, scattering crystal, plates and cutlery and the lit candles. Several glasses and a crystal candlestick are broken. Kennedy then picks her up from the table and throws her on [Sen. Chris] Dodd, who is sprawled in a chair. (snip) Here is what McCaskill had to say about Kennedy´s behavior upon his death
On Monday, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour President Donald Trump should resign over the sexual misconduct allegations against him. Gillibrand said, “President Trump should resign. These allegations are credible, they are numerous. I’ve heard these women’s testimony, and many of them are heartbreaking. And President Trump should resign his position.” She added, “Whether he will ever hold himself accountable is something you really can’t hold your breath for. And so, Congress should have hearings. They should do their investigation. They should have appropriate investigations of his behavior and hold him accountable.”
A supposed "rising star" at the State Department has resigned in anger over President Trump´s and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson´s policies. Elizabeth Shackelford gave her resignation letter to the left-leaning Foreign Policy magazine, which was, of course, all too happy to publish it. Shackelford´s letter says she believes the new administration has abandoned human rights as a priority, and shows disdain for the State Department´s diplomatic work. "I have deep respect for the career Foreign and Civil Service staff who, despite the stinging disrespect this Administration has shown our profession, continue the struggle to keep our foreign policy on the positive
A heartbreaking video of a young boy pleading to be left alone by bullies has gone viral and celebrities are offering him their support.Keaton Jones, of Knoxville, Tennessee, asked his mother, Kimberly Jones, a question that so many people would like the answer too. ´Just out of curiosity, why do they bully? What´s the point of it? Why do you find joy in taking innocent people and finding a way to be mean to them,´ Keaton asked his mother through tears. ´It´s not okay,´ he said. (Video/Photos) His mother then asked: ´What did they say to you?´ ´They make fun
The rules of interaction between women and men in the workplace have been changed with a suddenness that inevitably produces unforeseen negative consequences, no matter how positive and necessary the switch might be. (snip) With the stakes so high, given the presumption of female veracity and male culpability anytime an objection is raised, men are, frankly, terrified. Get used to it, ladies. That is the other side of the coin of the new normal. The old norms that men (often cluelessly) incorporated into their behavior now have been discarded, but we have no clear understanding of what should replace them. By
A suspect is in custody following an explosion at one of New York City’s busiest transit hubs in Times Square during Monday morning’s rush hour, police said. The bombing suspect was identified as Akayed Ullah, 27, according to New York Police Commissioner James O’Neill. Ullah had an explosive device strapped to his body, O’Neill said. What do we know about the suspect? Law enforcement sources told Fox News Ullah lives in Brooklyn. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said the explosion was an “attempted terrorist attack.” Sources told the Associated Press that Ullah may be of Bangladeshi descent. What else do we know about the
Several women who have accused US President Donald Trump of sexual assault and harassment were expected Monday to call on Congress to open an investigation. A press conference by the women will be hosted by Brave New Films, a media company that recently produced a clip detailing sexual harassment or assault claims by 16 women against Trump. A press release from Brave New Films on Sunday said the women would relate their accounts of Trump’s alleged “groping, fondling, forcibly kissing, humiliating, and harassing women.” The White House has dismissed all of the accusations as lies. During Trump’s presidential campaign, more than
President Trump attacked Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) in a sexually suggestive tweet Tuesday morning that implied Gillibrand would do just about anything for money, prompting a swift and immediate backlash. “Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Charles E. Schumer and someone who would come to my office ´begging´ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump,” the president wrote. “Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!”
One of the more obvious things about the Trump economy is how much better it is than the Obama economy. Yet incredibly, President Obama, as if jealously looking on at this night-and-day difference, is trying to claim credit for it. From the Washington Times: Former President Barack Obama is taking credit for the robust economic growth that is taking place under President Trump. At a conference of mayors in Chicago, Mr. Obama congratulated himself Tuesday for strong employment numbers in the U.S. this year, saying his climate-change policies have contributed to growth.
The plague of empty seats which has befallen the National Football League reached biblical proportions this week, as teams continued to find it hard to fill stadiums. Naturally, a large number of players also continued their anti-American protests during the playing of the national anthem as Week 14 rolled into stadiums everywhere. And as a result, ticket prices are plummeting. The league is having such a tough time finding fans to fill seats that some tickets are selling for the unheard of price of three dollars a seat, Breitbart Sports reported on Sunday.
