FCC votes to limit program
funding internet access for
low-income communities

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) took steps Thursday to roll back Lifeline — a program that subsidizes broadband and phone service for low-income households. The FCC voted in a 3-2 split along party lines favoring Republicans to reform the program during the agency’s monthly open meeting. Republicans, including Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), praised the agency’s decision to begin pushing the program toward jurisdiction of the states. “States play an important role in preventing waste, fraud, and abuse in federal programs, in addition to ensuring that people have access to essential communications services,” Wicker said in a statement on Thursday. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said

Good. The fraud is rampant in those programs. OP is correct. If one wishes to use the Internet, go to the library.

Considering what so many people use the Web for, I see no need to subsidize porn surfing. The Internet can be used for free at the library, and much of it is accessible on cell phones, which it seems even the poorest individuals have.

Nobody is really that poor anymore. If they´re lower income, they have off-the-books income from sometimes nefarious sources (drug-selling, undeclared housekeeping maid service income, day jobs, etc.). And the communities provide nearly everything they need. There are charities that provide their kids laptops or tablets, school clothes for free, at least 2 free meals a day at school, free Obamaphones, discount or free travel on public transit buses & light rail, free pre-school, free Aid to Families with Dependent Children, food stamps, subsidized low income housing, subsidized heat & electric, free health care via Medicaid, and the list goes on.

Enough is enough.

Yes, there is fraud but the "I got mine, too bad for you" attitude means you don´t know what you are talking about or what is actually happening in the community. I see it first hand.

Answer me this: Why does the welfare class need free internet?

My sister-in-law survives on $lK/mo, owns her own house, pays for everything out-of-pocket (no subsidies), and can still save a little money. Yet she has to pay over $40/mo. for lifeline. Where does all that tax money on our telephones go to anyway? Congress´s slush fund to pay off sexual harassers? A cut off the top for each congressional puke?

The funny thing is a lot of these people get free cable and have big screen Tv,s the rest of us can´t afford. I suspect the cable companies.especially Comcast passed along the cost of the subsidy to paying customers. That´s why so many people are unplugging.I´m not sure but I think internet, phone and cable costs around $180 a month where I live. This is a perfect example of left wing vote buying schemes.

By now everyone is likely aware of the Fake News story run by CNN on Friday surrounding an email received by Donald Trump Jr. The email was part of the investigative evidence shared with the House Intelligence committee; and later leaked from within that committee to CNN – thereby initiating the false reporting on the content. The central issue in the CNN story was the date of an email. It was leaked from within the committee, and later reported by CNN, that the date was “September 4th, 2016”; a date convenient for a collusion narrative between Trump Jr and WikiLeaks.

Facebook warned Breitbart News on Friday that the author of a completely factual story concerning the accuser of Alabama Senate candidate Judge Roy Moore needed to consult “additional reporting” from the liberal fact-checker Politifact. The story, published on Friday morning, detailed how Beverly Young Nelson, who accused Roy Moore of sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager, admitted to adding “notes” to part of her yearbook, which she claims Moore signed. This revelation came despite Nelson claiming at her initial press conference alongside her lawyer Gloria Allred, that the entire yearbook document was solely Moore’s handwriting. In a message

As part of the agreement, Feit was expected to plead guilty to the assault and authorities would not investigate him in connection with the murder.

If the counterintelligence FISA warrant was obtained through deception, misleading/manipulated information, or fraud; and that warrant is what led to the wiretapping and surveillance of candidate Donald Trump and General Flynn; and that warrant was authorized by FISA Court Judge Contreras –who was the judge in Flynn’s case, and is now recused– the entire tenuous FBI and DOJ operation begins to collapse. The back-story to the

Al Franken’s resignation speech on Thursday seemed less heartfelt than grudging. He cast it not as an act of atonement — he continues to deny the charges largely and acknowledged through his stifled rage that his previous quasi-apologies had hastened his demise — but a reluctant act of gallantry. He was submitting docilely to the “broader conversation” on sexual harassment, he said, while signaling that his replacement, to whom he referred as “her,” would be a female pol embodying that conversation.
