TSA screenings fail to spot weapons
most of the time, agency says

CBS News, by Staff

Original Article

An undercover operation has revealed that Transportation Security Administration screenings at airports fail for the most part. Homeland Security investigators found that, more than 70 percent of the time, undercover officers were able to get through TSA checkpoints with mock knives, guns and explosives, the House Homeland Security Committee was told Wednesday. Just two years ago, testing found a 95 percent failure rate, reports CBS News correspondent Kris Van Cleave. "We found that briefing disturbing," said Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. The DHS Office of Inspector General made eight classified recommendations based on the undercover operation.

Comments:
Their incompetence and failures continue on. One of the worst things GW Bush did, among many, was create that worthless leviathan the DHS. It´s beyond irritating that McCaul found it ´very disturbing.´ Isn´t that what they say every time this happens and NOTHING is done? The TSA should be privatized. They never should have been allowed to join a union.

They managed to find a bottle opener in my wallet, then get all nasty when I didn´t want to give it to them. One looked like Shaggy from Scooby Doo. I felt safe.

After 9-11 Sen. McCain asserted the cause was incompetence on the part of the contract security firms hired by airlines to man the security posts. McPain demanded the TSA be formed, creating yet ONE MORE "police force" in the Federal registry with pension funds and benefits... and now Unionized workers. Today we see they´re close to WORTHLESS as security guardians. We´d be better off with mall cops watching who carries what on the plane.

SWouth Park did a really funny parody of TSA by having a woman fall into the toilet because the boys in her household forgot to put the seat down. She died during the rescue attempt, bent in a jackknife position. And they put her into her casket in that position. (My written description doesn´t sound funny, but trust me, the episode was.)
The solution for the toilet seat problem? a federal department of Toilet Seat Safety, with a requirement that toilet seat belts had to be used, but also a person heading for the toilet had to undergo a body search by TSS agents. "Just show me your azz, sir."

Those numbers sound like standard failure rates for any government-run program. The only thing that can be done to fix the TSA is to privatize. Most errors can be corrected but one terrorist getting lucky one time...

Chuck Schumer is taking his big spending boost for Donald Trump’s border wall off the table. The Senate minority leader, through an aide, informed the White House on Monday that he was retracting the offer he made last week to give Trump well north of the $1.6 billion in wall funding Trump had asked for this year, according to two Democrats. And now they say Trump will simply not get a better deal than that on his signature campaign promise. Schumer “took it off,” said Sen. New York will continue to provide some illegal immigrant “Dreamers” with access to government-run Medicaid insurance no matter what happens in Washington, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday. There are 42,000 people living in New York who are currently protected by the Obama-era DACA deportation amnesty, which makes them eligible for Medicaid in the state. Mr. Cuomo said given the uncertainty over the program in Washington, he wanted to guarantee the migrants health coverage. “The federal government’s failure to take action to protect DACA recipients is appalling, un-American, unjust and puts hundreds of thousands of children at risk. Why FBI´s ´missing´ five months

Fox News, by Richard Manning     Original Article

Richard Nixon´s secretary Rose Mary Woods erased 18 minutes of tape recording of the president and became infamous in1972. The FBI failed to preserve five months of text messages and expects the American public to believe it was a random mistake. This is worse than Watergate. The text messages between agents Peter Strozk and Lisa Page are instructive for several reasons. First, the texts were sent in the lead-up to Robert Mueller being named a special counsel in the investigation of Russia and the 2016 presidential election. Second, earlier messages that have been released included not only the involvement of

The U.S. census asks about age and ethnicity, but doesn’t currently ask residents whether they’re citizens — something the Trump administration wants to change in time for the 2020 count. Like much of the Trump agenda, it’s not happening without a fight. The Justice Department’s petition to add citizenship questions to the upcoming census has ignited a firestorm of criticism from immigrant-rights advocates who say immigrants will shun the process if they’re asked to reveal that particular piece of information. “Such a question would likely depress participation in the 2020 census from immigrants who fear the government could use the

Democrats called it the Trump shutdown. Republicans labeled it the Schumer shutdown. But in reality, it was the Dreamer shutdown. The recipe for the current congressional gridlock is complex, but at the top of the list of ingredients are the illegal immigrant Dreamers who pushed Democrats to launch the filibuster that sent the government careening into a partial shutdown. It’s a stunning display of political leverage for a group that, at most, numbers several million, can’t vote now, and even under the most generous proposals wouldn’t be able to cast ballots for another decade. It´s no secret that Mitt Romney is, in all likelihood, going to run for a Senate seat in Utah. What´s less clear, however, is why the man who was the 2012 Republican presidential nominee and is now retired and occupying an elder-statesman role in a party torn into warring factions would want to serve as a junior senator. Once elected, Romney would find himself embroiled in day-to-day congressional fights and less free to voice his criticisms of the White House, while losing some of the deference he´s been shown by members of his own party. The man overseeing the special investigation into Russian election meddling is by all accounts a non-partisan straight shooter, the model image of a public-minded civil servant. Drafted to lead politically polarizing investigation, working under the beady eyes of distrustful congressional Republicans, Mueller has striven to keep his team’s conduct as unimpeachable as possible by bringing on some of America’s sharpest legal minds to check his own work and keeping public comments to a minimum. Congressional investigators believe they are barely beginning to answer the questions raised by the text messages between the FBI´s Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
