Soon, a church is going to have a member posted outside with a 12-gauge to protect the congregation. One church in Colorado had an off-duty officer who shot a shooter about to cause carnage inside. God is not against self-protection.

A shooter at our church would be full of holes in minutes. Sadly, minutes are all that´s needed to cause carnage by a shooter in church.

Just attended the "Sheepdog Seminar" in TN yesterday with Lt. Col Dave Grossman, Carl Chinn, and Jimmy Meeks (from Texas). They´ve travelled the country trying to wake churches up to the growing danger. As a local officer, I´ve been providing training and information to churches in my area (and some out of state) for the last several years.
Please, two things:
Get up to speed on how to protect your congregation and:
STOP calling these "shootings". They´re attacks. These cretins are NOT "shooters". They´re (mass) murderers, killers. Likewise, they are NOT "active shooter" incidents; they are "active killer" incidents.
Let´s get the terminology correct.

Pardon the additional post, but we must learn to STOP identifying these killers. Many, many times, they are seeking infamy. They want their name and face to be world famous; and we enthusiastically give them that. WE plaster every detail of their miserable lives, and talk to their grammer-school teachers about their childhood.

Please begin encouraging the media to stop giving them fame. Call them what they are; murderers or killers. That´s ALL they are, and they should remain nameless.

Very good, #4. I wouldn´t imagine you´d get much disagreement from anyone here. "Shooter" has become a euphemism for "killer." We need to call things what they are. That´s what I like best about President Trump. He´s not afraid to call things as he sees them. And he´s usually right.

It´s getting to the point where we need concealed carry permit holders in most public places. These attacks--and they are attacks--are probably going to increase in frequency. The bad guys are motivated, and they hate us with a religious hatred. We must be prepared to defend ourselves on seconds´ notice.

TK is retired law enforcement and concealed carries every time he leaves the homestead, even when he’s on the altar serving Mass. He kids about founding the Armed Altarboys of America. He is not the only active or retired LEO in our parish, plus we have a few civilian carriers. He has spoken to each of them and their “regular places” are scattered throughout the church. He serves the 9am every Sunday, other alter servers rotate through as second, because from the altar he can see both the front and side doors. He also chats with every new priest assigned to us. They have universally approved.

It is vital that congregations, or law enforcement members, make sure that worshipers are safe at their services. I bet many men across the country have quietly done what TK did in our parish, however the need for self-protection must, unfortunately, become another aspect of planning services.

As much as I agree with #5 about denying these murderers the infamy or notoriety they seek, some people who are tempted to kill are dissuaded only by the fear of bringing shame on their families. And so not identifying them might discourage some but encourage others. It´s hard to know how to stop evil from happening...

If Bill de Blasio weren’t so crooked and his victims weren’t so innocent, you could admire his chutzpah. After all, this is a con man so sure of his con that he drops a ton of BS on reporters without revealing the slightest sign of embarrassment. With the election behind him, the mayor matter-of-factly acknowledges that he knew since March of 2016 that the city had failed for years to do required lead-paint inspections in public-housing apartments, even though he promised it would. Why didn’t he come clean before he was outed? “I think that’s a fair point and, in retrospect, I wish we had,” he said. We? We didn’t lie — you did.

President Donald Trump’s near-endorsement of Alabama Republican Roy Moore followed days of behind-the-scenes talks in which he vented about Moore’s accusers and expressed skepticism about their accounts.During animated conversations with senior Republicans and White House aides, the president said he doubted the stories presented by Moore’s accusers and questioned why they were emerging now, just weeks before the election, according to two White House advisers and two other people familiar with the talks. The White House advisers said the president drew parallels between Moore’s predicament and the one he faced

WASHINGTON — Would the war against preying on women be blazing so fiercely had Hillary Clinton been elected? When I interviewed women in Hollywood about the ugly Harvey Weinstein revelations in The Times and The New Yorker, they told me that feelings of frustration and disgust at having an accused predator in the White House instead of the first woman president had helped give the story velocity. When I talked to Susan Fowler, after her blog post about sexual harassment at Uber that toppled its C.E.O., Travis Kalanick, she said that before Donald Trump’s election, women in Silicon Valley were speaking up

The Observer has gained access to a secret hitlist of almost 100 prominent individuals targeted by Harvey Weinstein in an extraordinary attempt to discover what they knew about sexual misconduct claims against him and whether they were intending to go public. The previously undisclosed list contains a total of 91 actors, publicists, producers, financiers and others working in the film industry, all of whom Weinstein allegedly identified as part of a strategy to prevent accusers from going public with sexual misconduct claims against him. The names, apparently drawn up by Weinstein himself, were distributed to a team hired by the film producer

In the longstanding liberal narrative about Bill Clinton and his scandals, the one pushed by Clinton courtiers and ratified in media coverage of his post-presidency, our 42nd president was only guilty of being a horndog, his affairs were nobody’s business but his family’s, and oral sex with Monica Lewinsky was a small thing that should never have put his presidency in peril. That narrative could not survive the current wave of outrage over male sexual misconduct. So now a new one may be forming for the age of Harvey Weinstein and Donald Trump. Losses from insured properties alone are expected to far exceed $1 billion, and the total bill for the fires will be still higher. And yet he persists in the culture like a bad infection, pervading reality TV and wagging his preternaturally long tongue at anyone he disdains, including Muslims, suicidal depressives, non–English speakers, and Prince, whose death, from a fentanyl overdose, he called “pathetic.” Behind all of this is the steady drumbeat of misogyny. Trump has repeatedly called Sessions a "weak" attorney general and pushed him to investigate Clinton and the Democrats as the FBI investigates Trump and his campaign for possible collusion with Moscow during the 2016

A federal judge on Monday permanently blocked President Trump’s executive order to cut funding from so called “sanctuary cities.” Trump’s order would have removed some federal funds from cities that limit their cooperation with U.S. immigration authorities. U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick rejected the Trump administration’s argument that the measure only applies to a relatively small pool of money. Orrick also said that Trump cannot set fresh conditions on spending that Congress has previously approved. Monday’s ruling came in lawsuits brought by two California counties, Santa Clara and San Francisco.

Mrs. Clinton writes persuasively of seeking “grace” after her defeat, and concluded most of her speeches throughout the 2016 campaign calling for “love and kindness,” yet she is unrelievedly ungracious.
