Both children gone, parents still unaware:
The unimaginable agony of the
Shepherd family

Los Angeles Times, by Robin Abcarian

Original Article

Kressa Jean Shepherd, a Ukiah High School junior who dreamed of becoming an artist, died here two days before Halloween. On Oct. 9, she and her family were fleeing the Redwood Valley firestorm when they were trapped by the blaze on the mountain near their home. The fire killed 14-year-old Kai Shepherd and inflicted grievous injury on his parents and 17-year-old sister, Kressa. Kressa had spent what can only be described as three harrowing, mostly unconscious weeks in the burn unit of Shriners Hospitals for Children, before her brain swelled and then stopped.

A very sad reminder that while the news of the fires has faded, the horrific results of the fire still exist.

They are both with God.

This is so terribly horrible. I grieve for the parents of these two angels. When this terrible tragedy finally shakes out, there is going to be a lot to answer for.

RIP sweet angels, and may God hold you in His loving embrace. Please Lord, give peace to the parents of Your children.

there are times i think modern medicine can be a curse and the more merciful thing would be to let the person go as peacefully as possible.
reading her condition, if I was her parent I would have done the deed myself

Before President Trump signed a formal proclamation on the 76th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack, one veteran of the Japanese attack broke out in song. Trump said that, following the attack, a "battle cry could be heard by American friends and foes alike: Remember Pearl Harbor." The veteran standing closest to him smiled and began singing the lyrics to the Sammy Kaye song. "Let´s remember Pearl Harbor as we go to meet the foe. Let´s remember Pearl Harbor, as we did the Alamo," he sang. "We will always remember how they died for liberty. Let´s remember Pearl Harbor...

Tom the turkey likes to play chicken with traffic. The plucky bird is a common sight at the intersection of Klein and Paradise roads in East Amherst, where he often blocks lanes, pecks at tires and circles cars. While a neighborhood fixture and quirky oddity, his bold behavior has also garnered Tom a reputation as a nuisance. "He´ll just walk up right in front of the cars," said Steve Levy, a resident of the nearby Roxbury Park neighborhood. "He´ll start going right by the tires and quite frankly it´s really kind of dangerous. I´m surprised nobody´s had an accident .

Judge William Walls declared the mistrial Thursday. They said Thursday they reviewed the evidence "slowly and thoroughly and in great detail" but remained deadlocked.

Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood film mogul now cast as a sexual predator, traces the roots of his show business dominance to his arrival at the University of Buffalo campus in the fall of 1969. It didn’t take long for the kid from Flushing, Queens, to make his mark. (snip) He also left his mark on Buffalo’s people. Eugene M. Fahey (now a state Court of Appeals judge) and Dennis E. A professor at Boston University has proclaimed Christmas carol favorite “Jingle Bells” to be a “racist song” and is urging people to shun the jaunty tune. Kyna Hamill, a theater history professor at Boston University, recently told the Boston Globe that the venerable Christmas song has a “secret” racist past that has been “systematically” hidden from Americans as they celebrate the Christmas season. “The history of the song has remained hidden behind its local and season affection,” Hamill told the paper. She continued saying the song’s “blackface and racist origins have been subtly and systematically removed from its history.” (Tweet/Video) Hamill

Conventional wisdom is that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is asleep at the wheel – from recusing himself unnecessarily from the Trump-Russia collusion investigation to doing nothing about the politicization and weaponization of the Department of Justice. He also gave free rein to his deputy A.G., Rod Rosenstein, who is in turn allowing Special Counsel Robert Mueller unlimited time, money, and jurisdiction to investigate President Trump´s entire life. Last summer, Trump expressed disappointment in Sessions, calling him "beleaguered," wondering why Sessions wasn´t looking into Hillary Clinton´s emails and true election chicanery. Rudy Giuliani was floated as a possible replacement. Was Trump truly

Alabama is one of the most reliably Republican states in the country. The last time a Democrat was elected was in 1992, and no Democrat has won more than 40 percent of the vote in a Senate race there since 1996. The closest election in recent memory was in 2002, when Jeff Sessions won re-election by a razor-thin margin of 19 points. Sen. Richard Shelby has won his last three elections by 35 points, 30 points and 28 points, respectively. So it takes a special kind of stupid to pick a candidate who can lose to a Democrat in Alabama.

Scandal: For 18 months, the FBI has been fixated on determining whether President Trump worked with Russia to influence the 2016 election. But explosive text exchanges between top FBI agents suggest it should be looking in the mirror. The text messages sent between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, which became public on Wednesday, provide a rare and illuminating window into just how rabidly partisan putatively nonpartisan law enforcement officials can be. In the exchanges, they called Trump an "idiot," a "loathsome human," an "enormous do-che," and said "this man cannot be president." When not berating Trump, they were praising Hillary Clinton. Spirits were high inside the House chamber on Thursday, November 16, when, in the early afternoon, the gavel fell and a measure to rewrite the American tax code passed on a partisan tally of 227 to 205. Soon he was engulfed in a sea of dark suits, every Republican lawmaker wanting to slap him on the shoulder and be a part of his moment. Ryan was the man of

We need to exclude Fox News from that leftist cabal. Only Fox News still gives it mostly straight up, mostly fair and balanced. Democrats´ shocking victory in the Alabama Senate special election undoubtedly has raised their potential list of seats they might win. If they can win in the Deep South, they can win anywhere. High on the list of reach targets is Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who is up for re-election in 2018. Hillary Clinton did quite well in Texas, only losing by 9 points (better than she did in Iowa) — as compared to nearly 28 points in Alabama. What´s more, Democrats have a solid candidate in the form of Rep. Beto O´Rourke from El Paso. It is true, of course,
