Let´s Have a Real Debate on Guns
Weekly Standard, by Editors

Original Article

“Over the years,” wrote the editors of the New York Times, “the gun lobby, claiming to defend the convenience of hunters and other gun owners, has so bullied Washington that . . . sensible proposals seem beyond reach. But as gun mayhem continues to mount, the political roadblock looks less and less rational, more and more deadly.” These words appeared in 1993. The fact that they could have appeared in the Times at any time in the last 30 years—indeed they sound a lot like the editorial that ran in the paper in the aftermath of the October 1 Las Vegas massacre—gives

Comments:
If the gun control advocates can explain why gun control hasn´t worked in cities such as St. Louis and Chicago, then they might have a little more credibility.

Let´s stop the failed "war on drugs" and put a bounty on dealers both legal and illegal.

Then let´s stop the national "dump" of prescription psych drugs that fill the coffers of billion dollar companies that redirect added billions to the coffers of those who "represent US" in DC.

EVERY mass shooter has been found to be loaded to the gills with psych drugs either legally prescribed or illegal.

Where´s the "Praaaaublum" It is ALWAYS instantly directed at an inanimate culprit that ALWAYS has an animate perp at the trigger.

So if we must find an "inanimate" object to blame, let´s find one that comes in tiny packages....., drugs.

PS: Gun control has NOTHING to do with controlling crime. It´s totally a plan to control US, the citizens.

Not one country that has fallen to despotism fell until its citizens were denied the ability to defend themselves from their "leaders." Hundreds of millions of men, women and children have died when gun control became effective in countries such as the Soviet Union, China, Uganda, Cambodia, Turkey, Germany. Everyone and many more had government controlled mass killings of several hundred million of their own people exterminated when guns were taken from their citizens who could no longer defend themselves.

Put the blame where it belongs!

The liberal supremacists hate the Normals. The do want to eliminate the Normals´ 1st and 4th amendment rights, but to do that they will need to eliminate the Normals´ 2nd amendment rights first.

Beware the "National" concealed carry scam.
They promise a permit in 30 minutes then take your 65 bucks (online) and give you a long application form and other paperwork to send to West Virginia to begin a lengthy process you could have done on your own. I fell for the ad right here on Lucianne but I understand that staff has no control over what adds pop up.

An NRA gun safety course in every elementary school would do far more than passing more laws for the law abiding would ever do. Of course, bringing back the pledge of allegiance and morning prayer in school would help also. Liberalism produces wacka-doodle-doos like Las Vegas. Once they get past the concept of right and wrong - anything bad is possible.

The story starts with a fake narrative. The ´´gun lobby´´ isn´t defending anyone´s convenience. It is defending the Constitution. The anti-gun crowd does not respect the Constitution, for more reasons than the Second Amendment.

There can´t be a debate when the basis for it is a fake premise. Besides, what´s to debate? The Second Amendment has been around for a long, long time. If we were not meant to have guns, the issue would have been resolved long before any of us was born!

Let´s have real debates on law enforcement and mental health, and not waste our time discussing the Second Amendment!

Guns don´t kill people, people kill people! People are killed because of lax law enforcement in large cities, like Chicago, Detroit, and Los Angeles, run by Democrats who don´t enforce gun laws!

People are also killed in all cities because there are no national standards for mental health and the treatment of mentally ill patients!

To the Democrats “common sense gun safety” regulation is Democrat political code for banning all semiautomatic firearms. Since just about all personal defense related modern firearms are semi-automatics, such a Democrat gun control scheme would eliminate most modern firearms that law abiding citizens now use for defensive purposes. No doubt criminals and terrorists who do not obey laws would still have whatever class of firearms they wished to use.

There is no "debating" our black and white Constitutional rights!!!!! It is all spelled out there very clearly in the 2nd Amendment!!!

This isn´t something like abortion, that is not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution and is clearly some bizarre interpretation of the Constitution. This is there in black and white.

Now, we can debate why LIE-berals are so gung ho about taking guns away from law abiding citizens. But the right to those guns is not up for debate!!!

I have heard it all since I was a teen and wrote my first letter to the editor of the newspaper to tell them how messed up they were.

It has gotten worse since then, they are really crazy.

More Guns = Less Crime; just that simple.

Democratic leaders aren’t going to shut down the government to save Dreamers in December. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi haven’t stopped fighting to deliver something on immigration by the end of the month. But they’ve subtly shifted their rhetoric in recent days and aren’t insisting that deportation relief be paired with a government funding bill this year. Top Democrats’ retreat from demands on a deal before 2018 ensures they won’t get blamed for a possible shutdown and won’t upend Senate talks on a bipartisan deal combining relief for Dreamers with border security. WASHINGTON — Senior F.B.I. officials who helped investigate Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign last year wrote in text messages that Hillary Clinton “just has to win” and described a potential Trump victory as “terrifying,” according to texts released Tuesday night. A top counterintelligence agent, Peter Strzok, exchanged the messages with Lisa Page, a senior F.B.I. lawyer. Some messages criticized Mrs. Clinton’s team, the Obama administration, Congress and other Democrats. "There´s a special place in hell for Republicans who should know better,” former senior White House adviser Steve Bannon said on the eve of Alabama´s U.S. Senate election, as he went all-in for embattled Republican candidate Roy Moore. The next day, voting results showed Democrat Doug Jones to be the victor in the deep-red state, making him the first non-Republican to win a U.S. Senate seat there in more than two decades -- although Moore has not conceded. If Jones´ victory stands, it would tarnish the supposed “kingmaker” status Bannon enjoyed since Moore triumphed in the Republican primary over an establishment-backed candidate.

The media’s errors over the last week haven’t been marginal or coincidental, but involved blockbuster reports on one of the most dominating stories of the last year — Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. And they all slanted one way — namely, toward lurid conclusions about the Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with the Russians. Every media outlet makes mistakes.
