NFL ticket prices plunge amid
backlash over players kneeling
during national anthem: Report

Washington Times, by Valerie Richardson

Original Article

NFL ticket prices have plummeted in the wake of the uproar over the national anthem protests, dropping for the first time this year below the 2016 season’s prices. An analysis released Friday by CNBC found that ticket prices during the first three games of the 2017 season enjoyed a 20-40 percent increase over last year, but then skidded in Week 4 and actually dropped by 2 percent in Week 5. The timing coincides with the uproar following President Trump’s criticism of the protests on Sept. 22, which prompted nearly 200 players to sit or take a knee during the national

I hope they have to drop prices, drop salaries and end up with an entirely new fan base who agree with them.

20-40% ticket price increase for 2017, then a 2% decline? I am not watching the NFL any longer. They have ignored the fans, sided with their players, and even after all this fiasco, have not acknowledged the fans. The ownership and management of the NFL have the sensitivity of a hard rock.

As this continues there will be a point where the CPAs will tell the owners this will bleed into their other business to keep it afloat.
That is when the team cuts will start.
Keep up the pressure.

I have been somewhat surprised that many moderate liberals that I am friends with have abandoned the NFL for the same reason many conservatives have. This is by all means NOT just a conservative cause. Even some liberal family members have had enough and are no longer watching the NFL. This is not going away any time soon. There are very good college games out there, every week, without any of the trumped up drama that has overtaken the NFL. I look forward to watching the powers that be squrim, as the NFL slowly sinks into the abyss!

The owners are convinced that they can ride this out - that in the end the rubes need this bread & circus spectacle and will learn to live with their annoyance over the national anthem. I´m doing my part by tuning ´em out, but I have a nagging feeling the owners will be proven right. Hope not, though.

All that fashionable sitting and kneeling smacks of smug elitism.

True lower-case L "liberals" wear their patriotism well. ( after the September 11 attacks, flags flu on newly everybody´s car and home in New York City - for quite a long time.)

Meanwhile the upper-case L "Left" loathes America.

I would like the NFL thugs to be forced to watch the video of the guy who was shot in the leg in Vegas and was lying in a hospital bed when President Trump walked into his room. He dragged himself out of bed and STOOD UP in respect for the president, the office he holds and this country.

One post mentioned "until they apologize".
Apologies won´t work for me. The problem is it´s a ´kneeling disease´ that infected the entire league with support from coaches and owners.
It´s bleeding down into college and soon will be in the high schools. Blacks have ruined football with their made up fear of oppression. I´m finish with all sports where blacks participate even at high school level. The kneeling disease is incurable until blacks decide to fix it but they won´t.

Anther morsel of irony: many if not all NFL teams saw the secondhand ticket market booming and decided to get in on the scalping party by establishing buyback schemes in order to resell tickets and create another revenue stream.

Since the resale market is much more sensitive to supply and demand (as opposed to full or partial season tickets) week to week, it is a better indicator of (ex) fan disgust with militant players.

They can do all of the apologizing and price reducing they like, this is a permanent problem for the NFL. Even liberals have figured out that blacks hate them too even though they have been appeasing and coddling them for decades. All that the blacks see is white skin. They have exposed themselves as the true racists. Maybe those 1600 players who are soon to be idle can contribute their huge salaries to the welfare and food stamp programs. That would be my definition of "fair."

The Black players are only hurting themselves! almost 90% players are black. more and more quarterbacks are black. Most college players are black. But liberals hate football and have been trying to diminish it for decades! The draconian equal expenditure for girls sports as well as boys sports law has cut back on boys sports , soccer instead of football. Concussion fears as well as the NFL protest has caused high schools to drop football!

Soon football will be diminished to level of Lacrosse and the black guys will be the big losers!

Lost in the uproar over the NFL sideline protests against police brutality are newly released statistics showing that the threat to black men is skyrocketing — not from trigger-happy or racist cops, but from crime. More than any other demographic group, black men are paying the price with their lives with a surging violent crime rate over the past two years, including a 20 percent jump in the overall homicide rate, even as the number of blacks killed by police declines. Advocates pushing for an unaltered Dream Act to protect young immigrants are warning of the discrimination that some in the LGBT community would face if they were deported. The sunsetting Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program has enrolled 12,000-13,000 Nevada residents, including a rough estimate of 577 members of the LGBT community. Same-sex marriage is either illegal or unrecognized in four out of the top five origin countries for DACA enrollees, and advocates say they could face additional dangers in the detention process while they await deportation. Two young illegal immigrant “Dreamers” in the U.S. under protection of the Obama-era DACA deportation amnesty were caught smuggling illegal immigrants in separate incidents in Texas, authorities announced Thursday. The arrests come at a time when Congress is debating what to do about Dreamers, and the arrests could complicate the picture painted of Dreamers as law-abiding standouts who are victims of circumstance. Customs and Border Protection said the first smuggling attempt was broken up on Oct. 4, after Border Patrol agents stopped a car at a checkpoint on Interstate 35 and discovered two illegal immigrants from Brazil hiding in the trunk.

President Trump will halt subsidy payments to insurers who sell coverage under Obamacare — a move that would deal a critical blow to the program, the White House confirmed Thursday night. “Based on guidance from the Department of Justice, the Department of Health and Human Services has concluded that there is no appropriation for cost-sharing reduction payments to insurance companies under Obamacare,” the White House said in a statement. Trump has decided to end the payments — which cost about $7 billion this year — after the GOP failed numerous efforts to repeal Obamacare on Capitol Hill. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi

The former First Lady failed to show up at BBC Woman’s Hour, ITV´s This Morning show and at the London Studios to record an interview with the BBC´s Graham Norton Show. Ohio Gov. John Kasich refused to rule out a run for president in 2020 as a Republican primary challenger to President Trump. When asked by Chuck Todd — host of NBC´s "Meet The Press" — if he was going to run in 2020 against Trump, Kasich demurred. "I don´t know what I´m going to do tomorrow," he said. "I will tell you this — the other day, my wife said to me one morning, ´You know, John, I wish you were the president.´ That´s how I knew the country was in trouble." Hillary Clinton slammed what she called "endemic" sexism and misogyny in America during an interview with Fareed Zakaria, which aired Sunday. Clinton, who was interviewed by Zakaria on his show, "GPS," said sexism was so inherent that she purposely hadn´t highlighted her career history of fighting for women´s rights when she ran for president in 2016. However, she admitted that with the benefit of hindsight, she "could have tried harder" to do so. "I´m a middle-class girl from the middle of the country, and so I always struggled with like, OK, so what´s my story. And it suddenly dawned on me that

New York activist Tamika Mallory says she was booted from an American Airlines flight in Miami after a pilot inserted himself into a dispute over her seat assignment. Mallory, a co-chair of the Women’s March on Washington, was traveling home to New York when the pilot followed her to scold her over an argument she had with a gate agent. He then had her summoned from her seat and kicked off the flight, she told the Daily News. “It definitely was white male aggression. I was singled out, I was disrespected, and he was trying to intimidate me. I was

Hillary Clinton on Sunday defended NFL players who knelt during the national anthem, saying kneeling is a “reverent” position that is not against “our anthem or our flag.” The former Democratic presidential candidate, who was at the Southbank Centre´s London Literature Festival, urged Democrats to use the issue against President Trump. Clinton was embarking on a foreign trip to promote her book “What Happened.” She said people should resist “what are very clear dog-whistles” to the Trump base, pointing to the example of kneeling NFL players. “That´s what black athletes kneeling was all about,” she said in response to a question about ways to

If the NFL thought Americans would ease the backlash against the league — they were sadly mistaken. Photos of empty stadiums from around the league show how dire a situation kneelers have spurred. (Photo) Breitbart News reports: Note, that the Jets played New England on Sunday, meaning there should have been a big crowd for that game. The Texans, Atlanta, and Baltimore are also very relevant teams with relatively loyal fan bases. Yet, thousands upon thousands of fans no-showed or didn’t buy tickets for those games. Jimmy Kimmel says he’s laid off the Harvey Weinstein jokes because he’s not the “moral conscience of America” (there’s also a video of him asking young women to guess what’s in his crotch. And suggesting they feel it and put their mouths on it).Famously, NBC is playing shy about the scandal, having refused to broadcast the detailed exposé by Ronan Farrow, who took it to the New Yorker which did publish it. The story has laid bare the hypocrisy of the media giants, Democratic biggies, and the Hollywood virtue signalers.

Colin Kaepernick has filed a grievance under the collective bargaining agreement for collusion against NFL team owners, reports Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report. Kaepernick has hired high-profile attorney Mark Geragos and is preparing to release a statement about his grievance soon, added Freeman. The free-agent quarterback has remained unemployed since his release by the San Francisco 49ers in March and has garnered little interest from teams around the league. This has caused some to suggest he´s being blackballed for his national anthem protests during the 2016 season. Kaepernick appeared in 12 games for 49ers in 2016, throwing for 2,241 yards with

The Clinton Foundation told DailyMail.com it will not return as much as $250,000 in donations from Harvey Weinstein, saying on Sunday the money had already been spent on the organization’s programs and used for charitable purposes. The foundation’s decision comes as politicians and philanthropic groups grapple with whether to return donations they have received from Weinstein, after numerous women stepped forward this month to accuse the movie mogul of sexual assault, harassment and rape. Over a dozen Democratic politicians have said they will give back or donate Weinstein’s campaign contributions to charity. The Clinton Foundation faced questions about Weinstein’s funding after Hillary Clinton
